Your way is the fastest Bill, no doubt. But my aversion to iTunes relates to the security of the transfer. Apple insists that each Apple device be sync'd to a given computer/iTunes installation, and every time I want to move images and videos to and from my ipad/ipod, I am faced with the question of synchronizing. I believe the intent is to prevent sharing or distributing copyrighted material. Also, moving images and videos from someone else's apple device faces the same problem. We have a number of Apple devices here in our home, and a variety of computers, laptops etc. And now that most of the devices have cameras in them! :)/> Trying to remember which computer the ipod or ipad is registered and which iTunes is a hassle. I like the SD card /Connection kit solution too, and have used it often. I think it is the way to go when you transfering a block of images. ps: I thoroughly enjoyed your Capturing Bermuda. What beautiful images, and another clever way to show portrait images - they look like they are growing out of the page!

What a hassle eh? After much fussing around transferring images and videos, I found this App that works well... http://phototransferapp.com/ It uses your wireless network to move images back and forth, and works fine with both PC and Mac.. Dick

I've had great success playing PTE Mac slide presentations on my Apple TV using Airplay from my Macbook Pro. The best quality is the Mac App format, but the MP4 formats work fine also. If your slide presentations work fine with your Mac connected directly to your TV, I suspect you will have to look to your network/router performance. Dick

Wow! That is some pickin' Loved the performance, and the SHOW! Thats is some awesome cabin you have there. We live in the Canadian Shield and a similar design facing the lake. You gave me an idea on how reduce steps bringing the firewood! But it gets a little chillier here at Latitude 50 degrees, and a firewood door might be hard to insulate... The eagle flying by was a treat. We have them here too, but I can't say I have ever seen them fly by my window like that. Thanks for sharing! Now I have to go watch it again! Dick

I did exactly that this summer - How else to show the immense size of a redwood tree - But I did not letterbox it. I zoomed out to full HD width, began at the bottom showing people at the base of the tree and did a slow pan from the bottom of the tree to the top... Many who have seen it were impressed at the size of the tree... More effective I think than showing a letterbox image of two stitched images... Dick

Loved it Lin! We made a trip to the area in July of thsi year. But we tried to cover too much ground in the time avaiable. We only spent an afternoon in Bryce Canyon - Big mistake. Your capture of the hoodoos are awesome. They almost look like they illuminated from inside! Thanks so much. A fine memory - shown the way they should be shown. Dick

Perhaps the number of people that do not own computers or are not yet comfortable using them is declining, but I still use DVD format to make slideshows for folks that only know how to slip a DVD in a player. Many would stand in from of their TV with a thumb drive and would not have any idea where to put it. I play my AV's on my Macbook Pro and airplay them to my Apple TV. Great technology. But the entry fee to do this is significant I hear what you are saying Igor - And paying license fees for mpg2 is not cool. In fact If I heard correctly, that is why Windows 8 no longer includes the Windows 8 Media player - It is an add on, and is not free. I would suggest it is not yet time to abandon DVD I fear... Dick

What beautiful images! Croatia is so beautiful, and your images show it well... The only comment I would make concerns the abrupt start of your zooms and panning... I presume you are aware of the animation settings in Objects and Animation.... I recently created an AV of the Grand Canyon that featured many panoramas, and was pleased with the change in Pan settings from 'Linear' to 'Smooth'... Nevertheless, a great performance, and I have to stop playing it over and over... Dick

I would like to join the OP in asking the question... MPEG4 vs H.264 vs MOV vs AVI? There are a couple if issues here I think.. File size: Important if you are sharing your AV with others via the internet... I halved the size of a short 6 minute AV with a 3 minute MOV video and some 40 still images by compressing the video with an xvid codec (229mb down to 103 mb) Video quality: This probably has more to do with computer hardware performance i.e. speed of the CPU / graphics processor (if there is one) of the player. Is there a guide somewhere on how to optimize video quality with file size? Compression has a tremendous impact on file size as we all know, but just because it works great with my Macbook Pro's I7 decompression and graphic processor, will it stutter with a slower processor/laptop. Will PTE deliver a smoother output with a less compressed video at the expense of file size? I think we all want the best quality in our presentations, and I would like to know which route to take in processing video to deliver stutter free video for the lowest performing computer in the chain... Dick

Hi Igor, I've been creating slideshows for my Macbook, and always create the zip version... I did not find it to be a serious problem... Just a thought - Would it be possible to create a utility that would recombine the two files after the zip is extracted - the player and the resources combined to recreate the single exe? The internet has become such a dangerous place to be... Pity that so many security measures need to be implemented... Dick

Incredible images. Living in central Canada, we do not see a lot of images from China! Those mountains are quite unique. I'm quite taken with those bamboo rafts! Great photography! Thanks for sharing! Now to find out where Guilin and Yangshuo are! Dick
