Ken, The case and all its air control should pretty much handle all the heat generated by all the new high performace hardware and products out there. Im a true believer in keeping things cool ... heat is the primary element that can greatly reduce the lifespan of equipment. Now its only controlling the dust intake these open-air cases can collect ... its not really a problem if one keeps good maintenance habits New Note: Since I see you are running some Western Digital HD (WDC WD1002FAEX-007BA0 [Hard drive] (1000.20 GB) -- drive 2, s/n WD-WMAY00484007, rev 05.01D05, SMART Status: Healthy<br style="line-height: 23px; ">WDC WD1002FAEX-007BA0 [Hard drive] (1000.20 GB) Western Digital has its own free Acronis Backup version software available at its site. I gave up using my Ghost because of SATA drive recognition issues. The WD Acronis version works flawlessly ... as I ran it thru all drive restore scenarios I could think of. Its not as fully featured as the Acronis Full Version one buys. See: Acronis True Image WD Edition Software http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119&wdc_lang=en *It will work with other HD brands ... but you need at least one WD Drive (internal or external) for the software to install.

Bug-reports for PicturesToExe Deluxe 7.0 Beta
nobeefstu replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
v7 Beta 3 I also confirm this same behaviour as Barry has posted. Another TimeLine View Issue using CTRL key (using Beta 1, 2, & 3) Also there is a function issue with use of the CTRL key to ramdomly select multiple slides in the Timeline View. The Slide View CTRL key function works correctly as expected. -
chang sik, kim, Basic Method: You need to use Customize Slide | Main tab and set Loop this Slide. This setting does require maunual user interaction to forward to the next slide (keyboard and/or mouse) because the loop cycle is forever with no option set a particular loop cycle count. * If you want to limit the loop cycle count to say just three times and continue automatically ... copy the entire Slide and paste it as a new slide two more times. Use the default slide time and not the loop slide setting in Customize Slide | Main tab

Gilbert, Older keys were issued as a file attachment named Pte.key or Pte.reg It should also be possible to enter this type key registration info directly into the registry by just double-clicking the file. Then open PTE to verify your registration. *Make sure your Windows user account has full privileges.

Igor, I really like the new improvements to the Slide List display which now allows visual and easy access to specific slide details in one view. A further visual improvement for each Slide would be to include a reference icon as it relates to the Main Image of Slide or Main Video of Slide. With the inclusion of Video now possible as a Slide ... the reference icon would make it quick and easy to identify and access which Slides have the Main Image of Slide or Main Video of Slide. I know you have plans on vastly reworking the GUI in the future ... thought I throw this reference icon idea into your already full think tank. See image attachment:

Ray Groome, 1440x1080 is a 4:3 ratio ... which is pretty much a square unless Im missing something. Maybe you need to test more with your export sizes in your new Adobe Premier Pro CS4 to achieve the right results you require for PTE

Peter Kristensen, It should be possible in your particular slideshow scenario to stop the current background music on a selected slide in the manual show so that only your video sound plays. Use Customize Slide - Music tab and enable checkbox Play New Background Music Files. Keep the Music tab panel empty of music and make sure Project Options - Main tab is not using Syncronize Music and Slides. This scenario stops the background music and does not mute it. To start music on the next slide you need to Add the same music to Customize Slide - Music tab. * Since this is only Beta 2 ... Im sure there is more features to be implemented to deal with Video that has sound as they arise.

I also did have some concern with this position and its new button label. Some users may relate X to Close. In the interest of all users (new & old) its probably better to maintain the Remove Slide label ... or add confirmation message of its action.

Tom, I think the way it works now is that the Still Frame of the video is always present and visable even if you adjust the Video Offset. This has its uses for particular show designs. At the moment ... I think you must treat the video object just as any other object that needs additional keypoints to modify its appearance and control. Maybe Igor still has more functions to fully implement. However, I believe the video object could use additional flexability and control in this area. Having something like Hide/Show the Video Still Frame properties related to the start of video and the end of video. I would then think the Video Offset properties would have a wider range of visual control and design with other slide objects without extensive use of multiple/additional keypoints. But this is only Beta 2 and who knows what magic Igor still has up his sleeve.

Igor, Perfect. I did fail to consider the language needs. The 1/25 will be easily understood by all especially once the slideshow progresses.

Bug-reports for PicturesToExe Deluxe 7.0 Beta
nobeefstu replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Igor, Same issue as Tom's post above is also experienced with the new Navigation Bar in the compiled EXE version. Using multi-slides with auto or manual made no difference. The slider did however progress as normal after manually dragging it past the 0 position to the next position. The timer display did not reset to 00:00 if the show was repeated. It may be this scope of work in Beta 1 is not fully implemented yet. -
Igor, Wonderful integration of video and playback. Alot to test and play with here first before commenting. I see you already added the new player style Navigation Bar in this v1 Beta. It works great so far. One simple addition to the new player style Navigation Bar would be to include (slide# / slide total) Slide 1 of 25 to its display. This would greatly benefit and enhance manual control slideshows. Great Work !!!

Bug-reports for PicturesToExe Deluxe 7.0 Beta
nobeefstu replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Eric, Actually what I see from your screenshots is AVI and not AV1 . You can verify this by your filename which includes a 1 (one). Also the Window displayed in your screenshot is not a PTE properties window but a Windows properties window. See what right-clicking the video object in PTE File Info display reveals for you. -
Dan I agree with Xaver in that your Geforce 5200 is pretty old technology (2003) and may not quite supply the needs and requirements to playback PTE with video. Maybe once the Beta release is tested ... you may get better or limited results. * Make sure you have installed the latest Nvidia video drivers available for your model ... and not using the orig install CD supplied drivers. Have you tested with this PTE video sample provided by Igor : Post #55

As you have stated ... The shows however have worked in the past. I agree with Peter that something has changed in your OS/PC. First troubleshoot test is to turn-off all virus protection programs and firewalls your are using. As a safety precaution ... make sure you are not connected to the internet. Test the EXE Slideshow for playback results. Note: When in doubt and unsure of video issues its always best to reinstall/install the latest video drivers. Also reinstall MS DirectX v9 drivers (on your XP). This will help start you forward in your troubleshooting steps. Its hard to compare with your Pro Show Producer slideshows since they are compiled differently and may not use D3D.

Barry, It is possible to Add/Edit in your own Summary Details and Apply them. However, this Summary Detail info will not be available or saved to a Data CD/DVD copy. This will not help you on your CD/DVD copies or backups ... but at least it will work for your HD saves. So this Summary alternative only supplies a little benefit. The Version Details of which I prefer to have added ... are a internal component/resource of the compiled file and are available and saved to a Data CD/DVD copy.

Barry, PTE currently does not have such a proerties tab/stub. I was hoping for this file version properties to be added to the compiled exe from my previous suggestions. In the mean time while we wait for this feature (as Summary Details or Version Details) ... I have been resorting to making my own which greatly helps my needs . Either way ... I hope something develops. See post:

JudyKay, Just left-click the open area within the Object List after your copy & paste. This will select and highlight only the upper most object. Then perform your key functions. * The basic problem you are currently encountering is you are trying to sort the order of multiple objects after your copy & paste ... you must select a single object in the Object List to sort its order. If the selected object has children ... they will be sorted with the parent.

I agree with davegee ... the F3/F4 keys are the quick way to toggle the views. But as for being intuitive to new users ... shortcut keys are slowly learned thru use and time. A proposal: How possible is it to add/detect a double-click action of the open area within the slide/file panels to toggle to the full screen views ? This I believe would be a very intuitive action ... and the GUI panel would still be simple and uncluttered.

Inconsistent behaviour of a manually controlled show
nobeefstu replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
Peter. Just adding some additional info about D3D Hardware Acceleration enabled and how it varies OS to OS. Where the video card comes into play here ... I have found on my particular OS and video card that if I lower the D3D Hardware Acceleration (in Windows Display Properties) down 1 notch from Full, the active window focus switching behavior acts as normal when using Full Screen and D3D enabled in PTE. I suspect the switch behavior from using Full Screen mode 3D display applications in combination with Windowed 2D mode display applications will vary from video card hardware performace capabilities. In the not so log ago past ... my same PC with onbard video had no such 3D/2D focus switching behavior. When I recently installed a new 1024MB video card ... the switch behavior became unpredictable. *The attached image is a sample of a lower hardware setting. However, I plan on keeping it set to Full. -
Sandro, Hopefully your not talking about autorun for a MAC (since you have posted in this section of the forum) Tell us your autorun command as in your autorun.inf file Please spell it out exactly. Example: [autorun] OPEN=12345678.exe *Please remember that its best to keep the autorun command within a 8.3 filename with no spaces or symbols. Underscores are OK. *Its also possible your Autorun for CD/DVD may be disabled within your system. I believe MS just had a update to disable it by default.

Inconsistent behaviour of a manually controlled show
nobeefstu replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
Peter, If you just want to specifically display a particular image within your slideshow without using a third party program ... create the particular image object within a new Custom Window. This PTE feature will avoid all the focus issues you may enconter. See Project Options - Main tab - Customize Windows button to create a new window. To execute the new Custom Window ... the Action on Mouse Click is Show Window and then select the custom name you gave it from within the folder/file designation. -
Inconsistent behaviour of a manually controlled show
nobeefstu replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
Peter, This issue seems to be related when Full Screen mode and D3D enabled. This window focus switching behavior varies OS to OS ... it also seems the video card plays a role here too. When I work with other windowed programs and its shared with other PCs ... I always make PTE in a Windowed mode and not Full Screen mode and can still enable use of D3D. Its also possible to use Full Screen mode and disable D3D. The window focus switching behavior now acts as expected for all of my recipients. -
Jan Frojdman, Im not aware of any tell-all bag of hints and tricks tutorial available. Even if there was ... it would most likely only interest a few users, because from what I see on this forum most users dont fully read the PTE User Guides to begin with. Users need to fully explore and experiment with all of the PTE program functions and features to really learn the software. Most questions and troubleshooting posts and their replies are repetitive time and time again ...

Jan Frojdman, Using a simple text editor with find and replace features should easily perform the rename task. The trick is not to rename your entire filename ... just search and replace part of the prefix or add to the existing filename. You are part way there with your numerical sequence pattern. Now just add/change a prefix text value to the existing/current filename value. As an Example: 1_001.jpg is the original filename value. Now just find and replace the existing value 1_0 with the new value 2_0. All your files that are patterned to your numerical sequence ... should now all be renamed within your PTE file. (Remember you also need to rename your image files to match the new value) 2_001.jpg is the new renamed filename value. *If you only want to find and replace on a per slide basis ... begin yout edit point at that slide section within the PTE file. You can make it quick and simple once you get the ideal setup.
