Tammy, Copy and paste the key information in your email message into a new blank opened .txt file like this REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE] "Key"="0WaZQVDLmAyGw0FbBkq----" save as Pte key.txt REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder] "Key"="0AjiDT0zuNN/-----" save as VideoBuilder key.txt ** I did not use the .key extention as DaveG decribed besause some users PC's setting also restrict running this file extention ... thus further adding to your possible confusion ** Pte makes only one program for all ( no special demos or pro versions.) The different Keys enable the features.

Tammy, Sorry you are having such a problem getting this sorted. You can mainly blame your mail setting or isp service for blocking your mail attachments .... thus complcating the normal installation key process. You have 2 registration keys ... so you need to make 2 txt key files. One is for PTE program - use your REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PTE] "Key"="0WaZQVDLmAyGw0FbBkq----" and copy and save as Pte key.txt as Peter described. Second is for Video Builder upgrade - use your REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WnSoft\VideoBuilder] "Key"="0AjiDT0zuNN/-----" and copy and save as VideoBuilder key.txt as Peter described. Once you save both keys copy them to the PTE program folder : -First you must open PTE program and submit/supply the Pte key.txt file to register it. -Second you must open Video Builder and submit/supply the VideoBuilder key.txt file to register it. Close programs and reopen ... you are now registered. ** Make sure you save your keys in a safe place for rentention * I have modified the post to make sure you include REGEDIT4 in the key copy

Peter, Yes I agree. There is however ... still inconsistent behaviour as it relates to adding additional image objects. Adding additional image objects does follow the rename image ... where as the main image does not. So I see the confusion it adds to users expectations. Which rename pattern is working correctly is the question I have. I normally rename the common named setting to my own names so as to relate to the images sequence of events as used in the selected slide O&A timeline. I use such common names as Main Image for the main slide and Image Object1 and so forth for additional images. This way I can quickly see and always know the next expected timeline appearance of each object no matter its layer position. This is especially useful for me when I make and use templates for other needs. When the common name gets replaced it interupts my workflow habits. So we need at least a consistency among all objects in this area ... not different for some.

I personally find this as normal behavior ... unless Im not understanding the issue. The image object container name is a common named setting when initially made or to whatever ever I should like to rename the image container. If I change or replace the image file content within the image object container ... I would not necessarily like the container to be renamed again to match the replaced image file. I believe Igor provided this by design and is not necessarily a bug.

Ivor, Before you drive yourself crazy ... let Wnsoft try and sort your issue with the Minidump file. This way they will be aware and add it to their knowledge base of program issues. Here's a few other things you can test in the meantime to see if you obtain any results : 1- Disable your Windows Aero desktop. 2- Make sure you cleanup your PC's temporary files using the Disk Cleanup utility. 3- Create a brand new user account that has the same permissions as the account that you used when the Blue Screen problem first happened. 4- Copy Pte Installer to the desktop. Note: Some system components, device drivers and virus protection utilities--can conflict with installers and result in an incomplete or failed installation. To prevent these conflicts ... install from the desktop. 5- Install the Pte Installer to a different directory or drive (do not use the same as your other installs) using the new user account you created. Note :If the problem doesn't reappear, then its possible the original user account may be damaged. Now re-test the Pte Program each time you re-enable or change a setting from the below list : - Disable the graphics hardware acceleration to None ... and test running Pte Program step by step to the Full setting. - Re-enable Windows Aero desktop ... and test. - Use your normal user account again and test. Note: Being you once had Pte installed and running at one time ... indicates the installer is most likely ok. Good Luck !!

Ivor, Its a hard task to trouble shoot random system issues over the internet. I agree with André comment to reinstall your video drivers, and sound drivers ... sometimes its the simple resolve of blue screen issues that show up randomly even when you think your current drivers are working correctly. Also ... since you cant seem to get a crash report ... you may possibly find some helpful information in your systems Event Viewer of details if they were logged before the crash. Look for the Error Flags that are logged in the viewer after you receive a Blue Screen shutdown. Microsoft Help and Support Links: How to view error messages in Event Viewer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947321 You may also try The Debug Diagnostic tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931370

Notice To All my Friends on the PTE Forum

Lin, Were all wishing the best for your wife's speedy recovery. You are a very valued and appreciated asset to this forum community ... ane we also hope for your speedy return. All the Best -
Bob, Its possible to run the .bat in a minimized state. In order to do this you create a new .bat file to run your slideshow.bat file. Create a new name.bat file using: start /min slideshow.bat Exit * Make sure your slideshow.bat includes Exit

Ivor, Oh well ... onto the next step. Every time Windows crashes its suppose to by default create a dump file containing the crash data. This MINIDUMP file is created in the C:\winnt\Minidump or C:\windows\Minidump directory. See if you can find this file ... as you may want to send it to Wnsoft Support when you report your installation issue. * Just as a thought ... have you tried installing the Pte v4.9 as a test. It is the older final version, but many users including myself, still use it today in combination with the newer version. I believe its still available at the WnSoft site.

ivor digicam, Step by step we may be able help to sort your issue ... hopefully Since Pte requires your Direct X files to be in order to function properly ... have you checked them thru the Direct X Diagnostic Tool to make sure no problems are found among the various tabs. To do this just go to your Start menu and click RUN ... type in Dxdiag and press OK. Wait for it to complete process and browse thru the tabs for any possible errors it may indicate. Also to test your Direct X and see if Blue Screen appears ... download the v5.6 pte slide shows (made by Wnsoft) and run the 2 slideshows on your Vista. At least we will see if you can even run Pte exe slideshows without errors. Download from post here: Windows Vista Home Premium - WnSoft Forums http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....ost&p=62069 Its someplace to start.

Peter, I too extended the timimgs and finally ended up using the 4000 second. Heres my findings on v5.6 Wait For Key behaviour: When using Wait For Key setting and the currently indicated Slide Timing is exceeded or expired ... the button's Action on Mouse Click actually acquires and performs the action of the button on the very next slide thats in the same relative position. If the Slide Timing is not exceeded or expired ... the correct button action is performed. Example when Slide Timing is set to say 5 seconds : -On slide #11 the Continue button is programmed to go to slide #21 - but it does nothing >If Slide Timing 5 seconds expires ... it performs relative button action on slide 12 which is set to goto slide 11 and appears to do nothing. -On slide #20 the Return button is programmed to go to slide #11: it goes to slide #28 >If Slide Timing 5 seconds expires ... it performs relative button action on *slide 21 which is set to goto slide 28. * recentled edited to correct slide number 22 to actually state slide number21 So there is definitely something not syncronized in the Wait For Key setting when the Slide Time indicated is exceeded or expired that's creating this button action behaviour.

Peter, Ive done a little testing with ... and the issue appears it may also be related to a earlier similar bug you previously posted : A new bug in PTE - WnSoft Forums http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9378 Changing the timing to 4000 seconds appears in preliminary tests as the work-around for this current issue also. You will have to test the file more throughly to verify the proper results are achieved.

Print Screen doesn't work in Objects and Animations
nobeefstu replied to Ed Overstreet's topic in General Discussion
As far as I know using the Shift key in combination with Print Screen key performs no other function unless the user has setup some Windows shortcut key function to specifically use Shift+PrintScreen combination. So the botton line is ... using the Print Screen key should by all accounts work normal just by itself. Its possible however if a user has an expanded function keyboard with specific drivers installed ... the drivers may dictate or override the normal window key functions. Heres the basics on SysRq function key: "On 84-key keyboards (except the 84-key IBM Model M space saver keyboard), SysRq was a key of its own. On the later 101-key keyboard, it shares a physical key with the Print Screen key function. One must hold down the Alt key while pressing this “dual-function” key to invoke SysRq" System request - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SysRq -
Quartz, I had a somewhat similar problem (not relating to Pte) on an older PC with a Sony burner a few years back. Whenever I burned a CD-RW disc ... I had to always reboot the PC to be able to burn again on a normal CDR disc. I never did trace down the issue. Nowadays, I always reboot after burning huge files to a disc ... to restore/maintain full processing resources for the next burn.

Print Screen doesn't work in Objects and Animations
nobeefstu replied to Ed Overstreet's topic in General Discussion
As a simple test ... open the clipboard viewer. Use Run ... clipbrd or clipbrd.exe ... and the clipboard viewer should open. See what happens to the clipboard contents when you capture in O&A. Ed, I use the standard 101/102 keyboard driver. -
What difference does "pause slide show when window inactive"
nobeefstu replied to Ed Overstreet's topic in General Discussion
Ed, Basically the inactive term applies to a window not in focus. A window can become inactive by running another file, program, or just clicking the desktop or taskbar buttons with the mouse ... this new action now becomes the focus or active window. Of course when running a Full Screen show ... one can not click the desktop with the mouse. -
Print Screen doesn't work in Objects and Animations
nobeefstu replied to Ed Overstreet's topic in General Discussion
Ed & DaveG, Using keyboard Print Screen key with v5.6 in O&A works just fine here. Im using XP. Ive never used the Shift key combination with Print Screen key to make a capture. -
Quartz, When using the DVD-RW disc ... formatting the disc first is a normal required operation. DVD-R and DVD+R dont require formatting because they are not re-writeable. Are you still not able to burn with DVD-R or +R discs ? Please remember the DVD-R or +R discs must be new discs and never previously burned.

Robert, You will have to check Flash Player site on this to verify ... but I believe your problem may be that the current Flash Player versions dont support installation to Win 98. Alot of the new players, programs, and software out there now only support XP and newer. Even if you have XP ... many require XP-Sp2 minimum.

Yachtsman1, Yes quite easily overlooked depending the conditions. In case my above approach was not clear enough ... here is an example. The file panel would always indicate slide used in the Slide List ... much as the bold text indication does. The attached example clearly indicates the slides used and are not easily overlooked as with just bold text.
-
Barry, You have a interesting idea ... but I believe there can be much better approach and more intuitive for all users with out actually hiding the selected image. Right now when a image is currently selected/clicked it is highlighted in a color backdrop. Instead of hiding the selected image ... the color of the backdrop could be changed or just framed to some degree. This changed frame/backdrop of the image would indicate you have used this image in the Slide list. This would avoid issues that Yachtsman1 has indicated, and would avoid additional or switchable options which becomes less intuitive ... as the image is always visible and accessable. Note: Thanks DaveG for pointing out the bold text indication ... I never really noticed it. Maybe in combination with above approach other users wont miss it so easily as I have.

Quartz, Are you using Pte v5.6 with a v5.6 .pte project file ? If not ... install Pte v5.6 and open your previous project (.pte) file and create a Save As (another name file). -Preview the new file to make sure it performs correctly. -Burn the new file with Video Builder with just checkbox enabled to Burn DVD Disc -Adjust Record Speed to half of the disc's X capable speed. Also ... read this post as it may help to sort your issue also : Burning with DVD builder - WnSoft Forums http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8941

Quartz, I would first check that your Video Card Drivers amd your Burners Firmware are all current and upto date ... as they play an intergral role in burning with Pte. At least you will know your hardware drivers is up to par. Have you tried DVD-R discs ? Particilar makes of burners favor -R discs and some favor +R discs.
-
Jim & Ralph, Im not experiencing your Scroll 2 issue with 1024 Screen @ 256 MB video card. Have you both tried turning off - Advanced Options | Show Real Slide in Slide List to see if any difference in the scroll issue ? Note: You may have to turn off the setting ... then close/restart Pte to effectively test.

Tony, I believe mouse-over cursor was last used in v4.48-49 ... its use was not continued in v5 onwards. The only reason I suspect it was omitted was now version 5 onwards has highlighted buttons and text highlight options. However, I have also noticed when using images with click actions there is no mouse-over cursor or highlight indication in v5 ... where as earlier versions had such indication. So your are correct that there is no mouse-over cursor indication on clickable objects ... It would be a welcome-back addition.
