Mark, If the video card lacks sufficient power to run the show at your current 1920x screen resolution ... try lowering screen resolution. Changing the screen setting may not be to your preference ... but it may be the only way to get the show to run on your laptop.

beans, Here is a site on laptop video cards/classes. You may want to review the available information. Notebookcheck.com http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphic...900.2178.0.html I would check out this information in more detail on your model with a local tech, if I were you. Many laptops with integrated video can be upgraded if the manufacture has supplied the proper slots on the motherboard. Be careful though in any upgrade selections ... your laptop power supply must be able to handle the extra wattage the new video requires and the case must be able to properly displace the heat generated by the card. Heat control is a real problem for laptops and will cook and render them useless in no time.

Gary, I downloaded and played the Xmas-2007_vid-xvid4.avi in WMP and all seemed to play fine with no jumps, lockups, etc ... as you described. I counted 13 slide changes/transitions at varying slide time durations. Was the varying slide time durations intentional or were all suppose to be the same ?

Igor, I believe the average user may become a bit confused with the term "Mipmapping" and when to use/apply it. "Anti shimmering" is probably the best general term to use ... since most users may have a better concept of its purpose.

Tony, You probably need to adjust the settings in the Menu Build page to get the right effect you want. Video Builder's current menu tool is pretty basic in it features ... Im sure features will improve as newer versions are released. Look for Animated Menu checkbox ... and the Menu Duration checkbox and time setting
-
beans, In sbuckley post above ... the comment of removing animations from the show also includes the disabling of D3D hardware acceleration checkbox. *Your onboard video 128mb is most likely shared memory and not dedicated memory ... which means it uses/requires system memory to achieve its 128mb. Onboard video is basically a low level/entry system and not very capable to reproduce demands of true D3D hardware acceleration. As a example, I believe your video card is in the minor leagues ... but not good enough to actually perform in the major leagues where the gameplay is much harder. Your video card is somewhat borderline to meet PTE- D3D demands. *Normal shows without annimations dont require D3D to play correctly.

The .ptv is the video project file for Video Builder. The file saves all your settings and video show selections you used to create your video project in Video Builder. You use the .ptv file to reproduce the same exact settings/content to make another disc at a later time. * The .pte and .ptv files store only the settings/selections made ... it does not store any actual file content. * The .ptv requires the original file content to remain available to reproduce the original/saved project ... as does the .pte file for its projects.

Morgane, If your trying to create a Custom AVI ... the pop-up window you posted is correct. -From that window you must select the Video Codec button. -Now you must select a compatable video codec that is listed. Something like Mpeg4 codec or similar avi format. -Then select Create AVI button * You can not select PictureTo Exe Video Codec ... it is only for DVD Video production format. PC Answers - Tutorials - Video codecs http://www.pcanswers.co.uk/tutorials/defau...ubsectionid=744 Note: -What ever video codec you select to create your custom avi ... that same codec must reside on other pcs your avi file is to be played on. The other pc must be able to decode the avi file. - Not all video codecs you see listed in the selection window are able/compatable to create custom avi. The codecs listed are all the video codecs installed on your pc and serve other/specific needs.

beans, I can only guess as there is a difference in v5. (using D3D for DVD compilation) and v5.1 (using D3D for DVD compilation and DVD process) ... may be causing your issue. What is your video card specs ? "Encoding of DVD-Video disc (and AVI) works in 2-4 times faster now due to optimization for dual-core CPUs and using of hardware acceleration for video post-processing (if modern video card installed). Exactly same video quality as in previous version." Try ... disable D3D checkbox in PTE- Project Options|Screen tab and produce mpeg to test and verify. *I find it quite interesting your pans and zooms got smoother by reducing the DVD burn speed. Usually reducing burn speed helps for less possible disc errors that may be encountered when burning content too fast.
-
beans, When you burn DVD in Video Builder ... there is a edit box Label to the far right of the Burn DVD Disc checkbox where you can insert your disc name/title info. I know of no place to insert specific info for Author.

Phoebe, Glad you got it sorted ... v5 will be a little different in some of its settings than what you may be accustom to using in v4. To properly use and enjoy the new Pan/Zoom/Rotate features v5 offers ... requires Hardware Acceleration D3D capable video card. Photoshop does not utilize Hardware Acceleration D3D ... it will utilize your pc ram. Video cards have their own ram also ... some are shared and some are dedicated. If your pc can play alot of the newer graphical games out ... your video card is up to the task for use in PTE using D3D. This is why your video card make/model/ram specs are important. * Hardware Acceleration D3D in Video Builder also greatly improves the time/speed of compilation DVD/Mepg. You will be amazed how much faster you can creat/burn your DVD shows.

Mike, In reply to your PM ... The Create Backup in Zip function copies/stores all images/music/icon and the relative .pte file to just one directory/folder within the zip. What this means is the original folder structure is not copied to the zip if your files were located within multiple folders. Understanding proper use of Backup Zip content : Since the backup zip .pte file is the same name and file as the as original .pte ... the internal paths/directories to the image/music files are exactly the same also. The backup zip .pte file will first look for the original path/folders/files to see if they still exist and use them. If any of the original path/folders/files are missing ... the backup zip .pte file will look in the backup content folder for the remainder files and then use those. This can become confusing or problematic at times when opening/saving the backup zip .pte file which now looks/retains part of the new file/path location and the older original file/path location. Its best not to have any lingering originals/folders/paths for the backup zip .pte file to look for. To use the backup zip .pte file properly use the menu File | Open of PTE ... locate the new backup zip .pte file and select it ... and then Save. The saved file will now write/store the new backup file path locations in its internal structure.

Phoebe, It can test ones sanity. Is this your first time using PTE 5.0/v5.1 ... and all others built using v4.8 ? My first impression is that your PC Video card can not handle D3D hardware acceleration that v5/v5.1 features. v4.8 does not have this feature. What specs of Video Card (make/model/ram) ? In v5.1 disable checkbox in PTE-Project Options|Screen tab - Hardware Acceleration D3D ... test and verify if your slide show performs correctly. If plays correctly ... your PC videi card is not D3D capable. * Not knowing how you exactly do your avi processing/conversions but Video Builder should produce much better quality DVD/Mpeg files than using the custom avi conversions. In Video Builder you can make Mpeg files instead of burn to DVD to first verify result ... once satisfied then burn to final DVD.

Henri, Since the PZR functions/effects is a relatively new feature in PTE ... there is limited info/tutorials currently available. However there are some very nice ones currently being produced by Lin Evans. Go to Tutorial and Articles section of this forum. Also see the pnned topics at that section. PTE Made Easy tutorials http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7901

Phoebe, I gather you do not have the Video Builder upgrade to create DVDs directly ? You can not just open it up in version 5.1 ... you must also remake the avi using version 5.1 or Have you Sync Music and Slides from PTE-Project Options|Main tab ... and opened Timeline and selected checkbox for Auto spread slides along music ?
-
Peter, I suspect you have built a menu based executable slideshow ? Menu based executable slideshows are not useable in DVD movie format shows .... it a totally different format and process for DVD. You must create your three parts into separate .mpg (mpeg) files using Video Builder. Then using Video Builder to create a DVD Menu to access the three shows. In Video Builder main window: -Make sure you enable checkbox Create Menu (lower left) -Open Video Builder| Project Options for any additional features available.
-
Henri, You are not able to apply slide transition effects to your added images/objects ... the slide transition effects only apply to the main image used in the slide list. Any effects to the added images/objects must be hand-crafted in the O&A. This is the PZR artform that takes knowledge of the available functions, practice, patience, and ones own creativity skills.
-
Mike, See this post ... as it relates to your same issue. Re-linking folders with project http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7833

Welcome, Phoebe Make sure your using latest PTE v5.1 to create your DVD shows. Your issue was a bug in previous version 5.0 ... and should now be fixed in v5.1.
-
Carol, Video Builder currently can not perform this intro-menu feature ... but Igor has acknowledged its on his TODO List for future versions. For now you must rely on using some other third-party DVD-Menu creation programs/tools that have this function.
-
Just a simple demo/s displaying PZR Transitions as an alternate to using the standard slide transition effects. This is not a slide show for entertainment ... it shows some PZR transition effects that are possible with PTE which can be used in a generic show. It is a bit laboring to first setup ... automation or save/import effects capabilities within PTE would be a most welcome feature. For those who like to see some possibilties ... and those who like a different approach to the standard slide transitions. Find it hosted at Beechbrook.Com - PTE Presentations : PZR Transitions Demos http://www.beechbrook.com/pte/

I like FastStone Capture myself ... it quite suits many needs. You can still get the FastStone Capture freeware version 5.3 at this site : Last Freeware http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/pa...Stone%20Capture

Hardware rendering of AVI/DVD in PicturesToExe Deluxe 5.1
nobeefstu replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Lin, I have a almost similar PC configuration as yours ... so I thought for a comparison check. The Mpeg2 compilation time is basically comparable with yours ... but your burn time with '4x burn on RW media' is way out of character with my burn durations using the same RW media/4X. * XP/32 bit Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.8Ghz with 512mb Ram - XFX/nVidia 7600GT w/ 256 mb Ram * 2 minutes 14 seconds with 4x burn on RW media * 96 seconds - mpeg2 Just thought you would like to know ... and check to see whats causing your extended burn time as compared to mine. -
Steve, If your IBM T60 has a 'ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 Graphics with 64MB Shared Memory' video card ... the video card is not capable enough to produce smooth PZR effects and use of D3D acceleration setting in v5 PTE slide shows. Check your video card mfgr/specs to verify. Since you seem to still have the same display issues using PTE v448-9 which has different graphical engine (and no PZR effects or D3D) ... I would first check/install for any video card updates for your model. *It may help to supply more details/properties of the shimmering images ... and how you produced them. * Sometimes its possible to resolve shimmer/flicker effect by increasing the monitors refresh rate ... though it may not be possible using your current Native resolution 1400x1050.

endevil, * Make sure Customize Slide checkbox Use Customize Settings for this Slide is enabled of the Slide# using Show Next Slide after indicated Time interval for Manual Timing 10.1 for Slides 2 & 3 * Make sure Customize Slide using Global Timing 5.1 for Slides 1 & 4 show By default (Use timer to show next slide) *PTE v5.1 Use of Global & Manual Slide Timing with multiple zoom objects for RANDOM Slides: * To achieve the result you expect for RANDOM slides setting ... your Objects in O&A need to be Children Objects of the Main Slide Image. *Children Objects will follow with the Slide Image in your RANDOM display setting. Since your Zoom Objects are independent of the Slide Image in your current setup ...there becomes a conflict of 5.1 image slide timing with 10.1 zoom object timing and vise-versa when RANDOM display is used. * I suspect you will still recieve undesired display results with RANDOM ... when you try to randomly mix 10.1 object timing with 5.1 image timing. Your mixture of timing changes from a 10.1 slide with all objects timed to appear differently in the allowed time frame to become/display properly as a 5.1 slide is a bit unordinary and may not be in PTEs programing possibilities at this time. *Test and verify this is the result you wish to achieve. *See attached image for details:
