Hey Boxig, That would be a good feature. If Igor finds it possible to implement it. But as we know ... sometimes one program cant do it all Heres a great possiblity for PTE users needing such a feature : Knowing that you have Paquet Builder as I do ... a just released v2.8 just came out. This now has "Package for Multimedia Program" creations section ... a new feature to easily accomplish the group packaging of your mulimedia content for distribution into a single executable. I havent tested it out yet . But it looks like this feature could solve alot of issues of combining multiple PTEs for alot of Users here.
-
Guido, I agree totally about there being more pressing/pass needs in Igors to-do list that requires his thought and attention. Beta v11 current "Caption change" is somewhat satisfactory ... even though some control has been compromised. But I can live with the current change. Sometimes we must adjust ... and sometimes we need to fill in the blanks (caption box) all by our selves !
-
Al, .... the taskbar thing was not important to me till the new changes. I think it was just fine in the previous versions. I was happy ! I dont like blank entries displayed either ... as I would ( or use to be able to make entries) make names for Full Screen captions if I needed to. It was the back door approach ... but at least it was possible The thing I hate about most auto-naming setting/features in programs ... is the lack of control over them. In most cases it takes more time to undo preset auto features when you want to customize your project. I admit auto features greatly help the new and novice user initially ... but what happens when they begin to learn something and now want to customize ? Time for me to go to bed too !
-
Al, Sorry if I may not have explained my points better. The only problem I can possible have is in the near future ... is if the Windowed Mode caption name fails to respond to my entries like the Full Screen Mode has just been updated to do. As it stands, I have lost control of the Caption naming options of the Full Screen Mode to the price of progress. I still have total control of the other 50% ... which is Windowed Mode ... which I hope not to lose also.
-
Al, As I mentioned , the Windowed Mode caption display still works like the previous versions of PTE. Whatever entries you make into the .pte file for a Windowed Mode show ... are still totally controllable by the us (the creators). Therefore the User has no input or controll of the caption name here (as before and what I like). Its only in the FullScreen Mode there is no longer control of the caption name... or a better way to put it... lost control. Here anybody can alter the display name caption by renaming the compiled exe.
-
Al, The behavior of the Full Screen Mode " Caption of Window" name is acting exacltly as I suspected and feared it would do. It does not require any entries, wont accept any entries, and therefore it does not need to Show any entries. This is due to the fact it goes by the created exe filename when complied/ produced. It is more or less auto-naming the caption to whatever the compiled exe name is currently. But the biggest problem (and what I feared most ) with this auto-name feature ... anybody can change the window caption name now ... You and your Users ! Have you tried renaming your compiled exe lately to see what its current window caption is ?? Window Mode is still working as previous versions ... I like this behavior ... Its still programable and contollable to whatever the display we desire. So far anyway Im really not so worried about the Full Screen Mode behavior and what it displays... its the Windowed Mode I use quite often for multi -tutorial uses ... and would like (more like need ) to retain control of name displayed so a User can not interfere. Oh well ...
-
Bill, Your post and my previous/latest post were being written at the same time more or less ... as I have just read your post. As long as controls/terms are defined in how to retrive the taskbar name, I agree. As common to most Windows Applications naming logic now ... when one changes the filename ... the taskbar buton display reflects the same name change.
-
Al, Im glad were discussing the same topic ... I was a bit concerned of its varied content. Heres my basic point : If I create the "Caption of Window " name ( empty, blank or named) ... I have total control of the name that will be displayed in the taskbar button. If I leave it empty and it resorts to display a default name (the exe show name in this case) ... I have lost control ... and a USER/VIEWER can now control the name of my taskbar name by renaming my compiled exe name.
-
Bill, If your creating a FULL SCREEN MODE show and want to have a "Caption of Window" taskbar button display name (like the WINDOWED MODE) ... you can easily achieve this by clicking-setting the Windowed Mode (radio button). Enter the Name you require ... and then click-set back to the Fullscreen Mode (radio button). Their is no need to manually edit the PTE file to have this Caption of Window name. Also, concerning this new idea of using a default name for taskbar button name. I personally do not want see the "Caption Of Window" (whether its left blank or has a name entered by Us) ...change to some Exe Name by default if its left empty by me. I believe all has been fine in prior versions in this entry box .. if its left blank ... it should remain blank. What is the intention of this auto name to a default button name if user has left entry empty ? for speed or laziness ? Hopefully I have not mis -understood this topic here ... its a bit confusing and may need more clarity. My discussion above only relates to the Caption of Window name used that is relative of the taskbar button name displayed of a compiled exe only.

saleeltambe, Yes indeed .... you can do all this quite easily. Also, in PTE you can use buttons or other objects (pictures, text) as your clickable links ... this can allow you to be even more creative. Your initial post gave me the impression of something much more in complex interaction( animated text and icons scrolling across selective PTE slides).
-
saleeltambe, Sorry if the answers seem to a bit confusing ... but you have somewhat described a broad view of your intentions/expectations in binding both applications (PTE & HTM). PTE can do as Al has mentioned in the above post ... and performs quite well. But I suspect the interactive control you desire/propose is much more involved than linking between the muliple applications. I believe you want to have more control of the interaction between the 2 programs. Heres what can work .................... Example : You can have hyperlinks on PTE to open a HTM ...and vise-versa. This is about the limitation of actions/interactive control you can expect. Heres what wont work ................. Example: You cannot send parameters or variables to PTE to control it thru your hyperlink. By this I mean ...you wont be able to have a HTM hyperlink go to a certain PTE page and perform some functions in the PTE page ... and vise-versa. (This is what I define as "interactive" ... both binded as if 1 program .) Also Note : Unless your HTM and PTE Shows are truely "binded together" you run into issues common to using multiple windows ... one is "always on top" and "stealing focus' from the other. Hope this post hasnt become more confusing

Welcome, saleeltambe It is possible to insert or embed PTE Shows into other programs ( or as you say "developments"). However, this is only possible if your "development" program can perform such a function. I do not use Frontpage ... so Im not aware of its capabilities of what it can/can not import/embed. As to your purpose : Making your external animations overlay/combine with the PTE Show for interactive purposes ... may prove to be a difficult/impossible task.

For those interested : ScreenPrints v1.0 is uploaded and avaliable at Beechbrook Cottage Site: http://beechbrook.com/pte/ A Utility to capture and save screen images of a PTE Show while your viewing it. It saves them to a folder as .jpg's using the keyboard's "Print Screen" key. This Utility is mainly directed at Photographers that want to distribute their PTE Shows to their clients for photo/image selections. This way you dont have to also send out a separate folder of Images along with your Show ... the Client /User can capture just what photo/images they perfer just by using the Print Screen key. This utility may have some use & benefit to other PTE users too ! Enjoy Give it a Spin ...

Charles, You be surprised how easy the (accident) Autorun.inf may have got copied to the ROOT of your W DRIVE. Im not aware of any other issues that can "just create" this issue. It is possible to create your own Icon labels for your DRIVES ... but not just by accident.
-
If your saving your Show files to root of your W DRIVE ... this is creating your issue. The file creating your issue is the AUTORUN.INF ... DO NOT save it to the ROOT of any DRIVE. (Unless it's for auto loading a CD ) Save it to a folder and the issue should resolve itself.

Bug in custom slide "effects", non-sync
nobeefstu replied to think(box)'s topic in General Discussion
I agree with you Robert, Bill ... you amaze me . .. I belive what is expected to be correct behavior, would not be quite so pleasing as to what is acceptably correct behavior. I would also assume (if everything is played true reverse) ... all wav and mp3 files must play backwards to ? -
Alan, It may be another day or 2 again ... If Users PC did not have the Comdlg32.ocx ... the keyboard Print Screen key would not allow the capture module to process. I believe its corrected now ... but doing further tests.
-
gourmetphoto, By your post I assume you know how to make the object/links ... but just cant get them to work ? If your Show is Auto Syncronized they wont work ...as there is no way for the mouse to access any objects. The mouse is inoperable in Sync Modes. You must build your Show using the other Modes for the mouse tobe able to function.

With all this PTE Beta testing going full steam ... Ive been busy making and testing a ScreenPrints utility and unable to join in on the PTE testing. Plus its been awhile since I made any new utilities for PTE and my mind wouldnt take a double testing of betas. Boxig, I see you have started to get busy again. Your new utilities caught my attention. As I have almost completed a new utilitity somewhat like your Image List. Its for Photographers to also ! That previous Screen Capture topic (*hint) got me thinking. It will even override PTEs Print Screen Button (ooups!) I just emailed you ... take care
-
Bill, I wouldnt expect to go as far with PTE setting all external applications .... just adding the capability for PTEs own executables is just fine with me. However ... setting for all ? Huuummm
-
Bill, Since the recent additon of the "Run application" feature ... and the possibility of more additonal commands in this area, we are still left without a very important primary function that will greatly control use of these commands. The function to control " AlwaysOnTop" or "NotAlwaysOnTop" of the PTE executable. This has been a old topic of implementation ... however its need is somewhat crutcial now for the proper use and control of these new commands. Otherwise all these external running applications can inevitably become lost under one another thru the users input.
-
Guido, Glad to hear all is well with you ... I too was becoming a bit concerned of the recent absence of your wise and valuable guidance . About time you decided to devote some time to enjoy PTE for your own personal creations. ... huummm ... a creative mind never rests. Take care my good friend.

martins, Probably best to read up on this recently discussed topic about converting WMA to MP3 http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums//index...ct=ST&f=2&t=837 As for the legality of removing protection ... probably not Sharing and distributing Music these days is quite a hot legal topic ... wether for personal or business. My advice is just use good judgement and caution as to whom you distribute copies.
-
Welcome martins, Since you mention all Plays well on your PC Hardrive and CDRom ... but not on others ... seems to first indicate you are using WMA Music files. Are you? If this is the case .... Protected WMA files will not PLay on another PC that doesnt have permission files to Play it. Try to Play just the WMA Music file all by itself on the non working PCs ... if it doesnt Play ... this is most likely the culprit creating your issue. Best advice ... only use MP3 ( unless your absolutely sure your WMA is not protected)
