  1. Further to my previous post (above). I have allowed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software to refresh itself to the latest code level and then top itself out with the latest database. I then set it off to scan drive C: (my software and internet browsing disk), K: (the backup of my Lightroom files taken after my visit to musopen yesterday) and M: (the backup of my main data files, also taken yesterday after visiting musopen). Nothing untoward was found. Peter
  2. No problems for me using Microsoft Security Essentials. Could it be connected with the presence on that page of various credit card icons in association with the soliciting donations, I wonder? A different kind of "false positive" perhaps? Peter
  3. Igor, Try www.prsformusic.com. They're involved in the UK for licensing music commercially. They may be able to assist you. Peter
  4. Igor, For AV workers in the UK, the source of such licences is the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC). Their website is here: www.theiac.org.uk regards, Peter
  5. It is the graphics card/chipset that is important when it comes to handling the animation - not the main processor. Peter
  6. Ken, What version of PTE are you using? PTE v7.0.3 does remember the selection - single slide, range or collection - when using F3 (Full Screen view of File List) and returning from its use. It remembers only the last selected slide when using F4 (Full Screen view of Slide List) or when returning from its use. regards, Peter
  7. Ken, I agree, this would be a nice improvement to the way PTE behaves. Your suggestion is going to work fine for a contiguous range of slides, but what about a non-contiguous collection? Which slide should PTE highlight after that deletion? Personally, I think high-lighting the slide prior to the first deleted slide would, again, be a logical way of working. Peter
  8. Sorry! As you say, a misunderstanding. Can you not replace the commissioned work with an equivalent number of images of your own? If that also exhibits the problem then you can send that to Igor. Peter
  9. Klaus, If you cannot upload a file of this size direct to the client, investigate some of the file hosting services such as MediaFire and Dropbox. You could possibly upload your file to such a site and then send your client a URL link to download the file from the hosting service. Peter
  10. Mike, Use the F3 Full Screen view to select your images (Click, Ctrl+Click, Shift+Click - which-ever) and use the Add button to add them (at the end of the project). Then tap F4 twice to go into Full Screen view of the Slide List and drag and drop them to where you want. By adjusting the slider to control the thumbnail size, you can see up to 300 images at a time. Peter
  11. Dave, I think you're asking essentially the same question as Eric did above. See my reply to him. Peter Footnote to both of you: When I do a voice recording, all electrical equipment in the studio is switched off. I don't want to have the PC running and risk picking up its fan noise in the background of the recording. As I said to Eric, I've found a way that works and I'm sticking with it.
  12. Hi Eric, No, I have never tried that. I have found a set up and technique that works for me - and I'm sticking with it. Peter
  13. Dave, Short answer - No. Longer answer... Back in the days of all-analogue I used a relatively inexpensive Phillips microphone connected to a TASCAM 24B 4-track open-reel tape recorder and got noise free recordings of my voice. When I moved to digital AV, I tried using the same mic plugged directly into my PC and got masses of hiss and hum. I was advised to try a pre-amp between the mic and the PC so I bought a cheap one from Maplin. That simply added even more noise! I then bought a specialist pre-amp from Howard Gregory. That took me back to the state prior to trying the Maplins pre-amp - i.e. still lots of noise (but Howard's pre-amp wasn't adding any of its own). At that point I sat down and thought the situation through and eventually decided that my PC was adding the noise. At this point I had a brainwave and realised I could try and confirm that. I still had some tape cassette copies of my voice recordings and I still had my TASCAM Portastudio cassette-mixer deck. I set this up and checked the sound quality through the headphone socket of the TASCAM deck -it was noise free. I then connected the TASCAM deck to the PC and recorded the voice track into the PC. Guess what? Massive amounts of hiss and hum! At this point I was satisfied that it was the PC that was the problem and that recording into the PC was going to be a no-go. That's why I bought a USB-connectable, battery-powered, solid-state digital sound recorder (battery-power = no mains hum, solid state = no mechanical noise, USB connect = not recording into PC just transferring a data file). As I have mentioned before on this forum, I chose the Zoom H4 and have been highly delighted with it. It gives me clear, clean recordings of a Robin singing 30 feet up a tree and of our local brass band playing less than 15 feet away in the village hall. Whatever challenge I give it, it rises to the occasion magnificently. When I got it, it was the only such product that was within my budget. There is a much wider selection available now. Oh yes, and it means I can now do location recordings to get ambience etc. regards, Peter
  14. Colin, Whilst not disagreeing with your comments, the main source of "noise" for those trying to record using their computer's soundcard/software is the computer itself. The innards of a computer are "hostile territory" for a low-level sound signal coming from a microphone. By its very nature, a computer contains many sources of electronic noise: the power stack that is converting AC mains electricity into DC electricity, the electric motors of the hard drives and cooling fans, numerous circuit boards carrying a multitude of electronic components and several feet of unscreened cabling. Add to this the fact that the makers of the soundcard circuits are not trying to satisfy those with a discerning ear. The users of domestic PCs are, by and large, wanting only to use the sound card to chat to their friends across the web, and to listen to downloaded MP3 files and the deliberately created electronic noise of computer games. They have no real interest in listening to the subtle nuances of the sounds of the natural world or the spoken voice. When asked about recording the human voice, I always recommend the use of some kind of external digital recorder that captures the sound in a WAV format file and then connects to the PC via a USB cable to transfer the file for further work on it using such as Audacity or Audition. regards, Peter
  15. Here's a simple little demo project. Peter InheritedOpacity.zip
  16. I have raised this subject in the past, as a request for a feature change in PTE. I have also noted that, in another topic recently, it was stated that opacity was not inherited by the child of a parent. The preceding statement is true. But... If you want to fade out a complex cluster of objects with one simple and easy fade operation, it can be done, as I have just discovered by accident. Place the cluster of objects inside a Mask Container. I used the PTE default rectangle as the mask image. Then fade out the Mask Container. This will fade out its contents - opacity is inherited! For those of us who build complex animated structures, this technique could be a great time saver and will open up new creative opportunities. regards, Peter
  17. Mike, Drag from the File List pane (where the images in the folder are displayed) and drop in the Slide List (across the bottom of the window) between the two images. You will see a black bar appear between the two images to confirm visually where the drop will happen. If you miss your target, simply drag and drop laterally along the Slide List. For more complex sorting, simply use F4 to toggle into the "digital light box" and then drag and drop to your hearts content. F4 again to toggle back to the main window. regards, Peter
  18. From PTE Version 7.0 onwards there is no such thing as Standard Edition for new users. There is just one version available to new customers - DeLuxe Edition. Therefore new customers will be confused only by the persistent references to a product that no longer exists by us "oldies". For those who have been PTE users at versions prior to v7.0 there exists the possibility that they may have purchased Standard Edition and never upgraded to Deluxe Edition. For these users the functions that are available to them in Standard Edition are: Creation of a PC executable, Creation of a PC Screensaver, Creation of an AVI file. The AVI file can be burned to DVD but that requires the use of DVD burning software (e.g. Nero or Roxio and many others). If an existing user of the Standard Edition then upgrades to the Deluxe Edition, the features that then come with the upgrade are: Creation of HD Video for PC or Mac, Creation of a DVD-Video disc, Creation of a video for use on iPad and iPhone devices, Creation of a video and then publish it on YouTube (requires a YouTube account), Creation of a video and then publish it on Facebook (requires a Facebook account), Creation of an executable for Mac. regards, Peter

  20. Topic moved to "Ideas and suggestions" Peter
  21. Mick, Does panning the Frame on the Z axis (in 3D parameters) have the desired effect? N.B. you might then need to make a bigger venetian blind if the edges come into view too much. Peter

organmorgan, "Junior Member" relates to the number of times you have posted and not to your age. Enjoy being young again! Peter
  23. This has my support as an enhancement to PTE! If we get some more takers I'll move the topic to the Suggestions part of the forum. Peter
  24. And therein lies the problem! In the regional, national and international competitions held in the UK, the entrants don't get any feedback. So how are they going to know what changes to make for the next time? Peter
  25. Hi John, No, I've never had an off-centre waveform. The Normalize Effect will allow you to re-centre to 0dB. But I guess you already new that! Peter
