  1. Gary, You've looked at the wrong file. The file you should look at is the one named in the error message (wpTypes.pas). You have the full pathname for it in the error message so you should be able to find it. I have a feeling the problem could be related to the sheer amount of data you are trying to put into your sequence. Does it play OK in the mini-player area? Does it Preview OK? If not, try taking half the contents out. Is that OK? If so, add back in half of what you took out? Is that OK? Keep on adding back in half of what is still missing until you hit the problem. Then start taking out one slide at a time to find out at what point the problem vanishes and re-appears. regards, Peter
  2. Ron, I've just tried using a Text object to do the "Exit" processing. I set up two objects: one a child of the main image, the other an independent text object. Both worked fine when I Previewed the sequence. It must be something about your settings. I suggest you "Backup to zip" and post a link to the zip so that we can download it and take a look at your settings to see how they differ from ours. regards, Peter
  3. Gary, Further to Lin's reply... In a typical AV sequence, the sound-track usually contributes as much or even more bytes of data than do all the still images put together. But you also mentioned video. Now that really does jack up the final file size. So, if you are wanting to produce small-ish executable files, you are going to have to pay close attention to the still images files, the sound files and the video files. The world just got more complicated! regards, Peter
  4. Ron, Can you reproduce it consistently i.e. starting from scratch, can you build another menu and get the same problem? Peter
  5. I'm not seeing this problem, either (Win 7 64bit). Peter
  6. Lin, You're the master! Have a good Christmas! best wishes, Peter
  7. Hi Anthony, I hope so! regards, Peter
  8. Mick, Back in the good old days of vinyl LPs, I remember some folks used to buy LPs of silence in order to check whether their systems had any audible noise inherent in them. Ask yourself: What do I want? Is it playback that I am happy with and willing to share with friends and family, or a never ending quest for the perfect playback? Bear in mind that the latter may leave you permanently unhappy because you will never be sure that you have found it. regards, Peter
  9. Whilst running my normal weekend backups I noticed that, amongst the files copied were: Iona_AVG_RESTORED.exe and MarneMemorial_AVG_RESTORED.exe. It would seem that a recent update to AVG has now recognised that these two sequences do not contain a Trojan and it has removed them from the Vault and restored them to their original folders. See the attached screen grab for the database version installed as of this morning. regards, Peter
  10. Interesting! I will have to investigate this when I get time. Thanks to you both for this "heads up" regards, Peter
  11. Mick, Older TVs do not have the USB option and internal media player feature. And there may be some PTE users out there who still have their trusty CRT TV units. regards, Peter
  12. Geoff, That's the way that I work, too. Peter
  13. Geoff, What you say is true if the shows are being triggered off the menu using "Run slideshow...". If they are being triggered by "Run application..." you can mix PTE versions (and, indeed, call any other program). The downside of using "Run application..." is that horrible "desktop flashback" caused by Windows's "Aero" interface and PTE conflicting for dedicated control of the graphics card and its GPU. regards, Peter
  14. Boogie, Drunk in charge of a computer? Not good! Peter
  15. Gary, I have always allowed Firefox to download to Users/Downloads (i.e. the default Microsft download folder) and never had a problem. Anything I want to keep I then move to my preferred folder. The choice of folder depends upon what it is I've downloaded. regards, Peter
  16. Thanks for that. It's nice to have confirmation that I did that bit right. regards, Peter
  17. Ken, Re the humour: it releases the build up of stress and tension; and God knows, I've had my fill over the last 24 hours. The shakes kicked in this morning as I was holding a cup of coffee (that's before I'd had the caffeine and not after!). Even now, I feel that I still haven't come fully out of shock. Thanks for the "heads-up" about the stapler; but until I get a pipe and cable detector, my picture hanging days are on hold. Peter
  18. Thanks for the good wishes, guys. Zero hour for roof lift off was 1930GMT yesterday. At that time of day, there was nobody out in any of the back gardens - so no personal injuries, thank God! It would have been nice to have aborted the countdown and cancelled the mission, but that was outside our control. We all know that we've been very lucky. If any of that debris had hit anyone, we would have been looking at major penetrating trauma and probably fatalities. As it is, there's only a whole lot of mess and damage to deal with. As I write this (at c.1730GMT on the day after it happened) the roofers have already put my roof back together and are coming back tomorrow to replace the guttering and provide a new top to the stench pipe stack. The owner of the roof has accepted liability for all the costs of repair - so no financial worries for me (that's important so close to Christmas!) I am now waiting for the third disaster (they say they come in threes). Ten days ago I hammered a nail through a power cable in the house whilst hanging some pictures on the lounge wall. If I suddenly vanish off the forum radar later this month, you can assume the third one got me! regards, Peter
  19. This is not an AV. It's more of a silent horror story. The four properties along our street had an exciting evening, yesterday (8th December 2011). By the clear light of day today (9th Dec.) we could see more clearly what had happened. I've provided links below for both PC and MAC versions. However, this is the first time I've attempted to create output for the MAC platform. Therefore I would appreciate confirmation from MAC users that what I have provided does work on their systems. For MAC: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15623351/StormDamage.zip For PC: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15623351/StormDamagePC.zip Now all I need to do is get my nerves back under control. regards, Peter
  20. Ray, I "Cut and Paste" it (Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V), making sure that I have selected the proper parent object before doing the Paste operation. regards, Peter
  21. Davy, Everyone is entitled to their opinion as to what constitutes great AV and what bores them. But making such barbed comments, that have a clear "personal insult" element in them, is getting close to the limits of acceptable behaviour on a forum such as this. You may well have been offering your comments in what was, to you, a light-hearted, jesting frame of mind. It is, unfortunately, a truism that humour, and especially sarcastic humour, can be very difficult to convey in the written word. The facial expressions and body language that turn a deep insult into a humorous piece of sarcasm, cannot be conveyed along with the words. Please take care to stay on the right side of the line. regards, Peter
  22. Spock, The attached zip file includes an example. Study the second slide in O&A. Note the Frames and the keyframes on each frame. If you do not understand, ask more questions. regards, Peter Frames_Dec8-2011_9-39-51.zip
  23. Laszlo, To ensure that one type of animation is not conflicting with another type of animation, I recommend placing the object to be animated as a child of a series of frames, as follows: Panning Frame - Zooming Frame - - Rotating Frame - - - 3D Frame - - - - Object to be animated Then apply the keyframes to the relevant frame. This helps to keep the effects of the animation separate from one another and also helps during any "debugging" of the animation (in that you can temporarily reset one set of animation to zero if needed). You only need to use the frames that are relevant to your desired animation events; e.g. if there is no Zooming, you can omit the Zooming Frame. However, as the frames are transparent objects that add only minimal additional processing overhead, there is no penalty if always using the full set. And the order of the frames doesn't matter, either: e.g. rotating over zooming over 3D over panning will have the same effect. regards, Peter
  24. I have no recent experience of running sequences through a projector that offers more pixels than my sequences were built with. On the only occasion when it happened, the images were interpolated up to the projector size; but the aspect ratio was preserved - no stretching or squashing. That might have been a consequence of the projector make and model or the computer make and model or the combination of both. If you have built your sequences with "Fixed size of slide" ticked (Project Options|Screen), I believe that they will not be interpolated at all and will appear at your chosen pixel by pixel size. regards, Peter
  25. Steve, Prepare your first slide with comment, in the O&A window select that text object, copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C), advance to the next slide, select the parent for the comment, paste from the clipboard (Ctrl+V), edit the text value if required. Does this achieve what you want? regards, Peter
