  1. Gary, I've just deleted the duplicate topic. There were no posts against it other than your original one. Peter
  2. Not so funny as you think. I "stuttered" on the Post button and inadvertently sent my reply twice. I deleted the second copy. Sorry, no ideas why you got two different e-mails - unless it was one from the automated system after purchase and a second after your communication with PTE Support. regards, Peter
  3. Gary, Did you have to post twice in order to make your point? regards, Peter
  4. Dave, I have some sympathy with that point of view; but then how would a potential new user have their pre-purchase enquiries answered? regards, Peter
  5. Colin/Lin, I thought you guys would be more savvy than that. Look at the date "daphne57" joined the forum. Look at the date of the post. Look at the embedded hyperlink in the post. Look at the time elapsed since the post previous to the one from daphne57. To me, that post from daphne57 has the appearance of spam. When I first saw it, I let it stay because it wasn't overtly "hostile"; it did seem to offer additional relevant information. regards, Peter
  6. Andrew, When Igor made this change to how the Slide Time and Transition Time work I believe it was done to facilitate the handling of timing data for included videos. As someone who doesn't use video I, too, find it somewhat illogical. However, the only mental adjustment you have to make is to remember that the Slide Time now includes the Time for the Transition into the next Slide. And when you think of what actually happens to each slide, this actually is totally correct. Each slide is visible (partially or in full) from the start of the transition which brings it into view until the end of the transition which removes it from view. What it means for me is that I need to change my default settings from Slide = 4 seconds, Transition = 1.5 secs to Slide = 5.5 seconds, Transition = 1.5 seconds. If I do that, PTE will seem to behave just as it used to (and I'll need to learn how to interpret all the extra info now shown to us in the Slide List across the bottom of the PTE window). This old dog will have to learn a new trick! regards, Peter
  7. I have just been advised by Alena that she has sent Peter N a private message. regards, Peter
  8. Ken, There have been several "re-packagings" of the key since those "good ole days". The newer keys that more recent users receive may not conform to those old instructions. regards, Peter
  9. Peter, I have e-mailed Alena at Wnsoft (she handles all the registration issues) and alerted her to your problem. I'll monitor this topic for a few days. regards, Peter
  10. Hi Joy, Given the situation that led up to this problem, I don't know of a way of getting PTE to sort things out. However, if you feel confident enough you could try the following: Use Windows Explorer to copy the aaaaaa.pte file to a different folder (to give you a backup copy) Open Notepad and within Notepad, open the aaaaaa.pte file Use Notepad's Edit Find and Replace commands to Find the first instance of the old drive and path details and then change (i.e. Replace) them with the new drive and path details Check the first one carefully to make sure you have typed everything correctly then work through the .pte file, finding each one and changing it It is a bit fiddly and time consuming but, provided you take care, it will get the job done. Once you've made all the necessary changes just do a File...Save in Notepad and let it overwrite the existing copy. Try that copy in PTE, if it works - great! If it doesn't; delete it and copy back the saved version from whereever you put it. All you will have lost is some time. regards, Peter
  11. Ah, but I don't! After Lightroom I take them through Photoshop, to crop and resize them in a Layer stack. This allows me to use both Layer Opacity and the Move tool in order to assess the quality of the "third image". regards, Peter
  12. Sorry, never felt a need to do it! Peter
  13. It takes five or six clicks and a scroll action to launch Video Converter from the Start button. It would take just two clicks to launch it from PTE's command bar via a Tools drop down menu. I hate wasting time and effort on unnecessary mouse actions. Peter
  14. Might I suggest that PTE should have a "Tools" command on the command bar with the Video Converter located there. Further, I would suggest that the user should be able to add tools of their own to the drop-down menu. regards, Peter
  15. Joy, It is my understanding that Igor has abandoned work on a native Mac version of PTE. But there are many forum members who successfully use their existing PTE versions under Windows running in a "virtual machine" environment. Take a good look at the topics in the Mac section of the forum. If you need further advice post specific questions there or try contacting some individuals via PMs through the forum. regards, Peter
  16. OK, so the behaviour in Create and Preview is the same. That I would expect. In order to show the Preview, PTE has to do a "hidden" Create. So the behaviour of these two should always be the same. Some more basic information if you please: what version of PTE was the original sequence built under? and what version of PTE are you using when you get the fault? Is it only the re-build that gives the problem? Do you still have the original EXE? Does this also give the problem? regards, Peter
  17. Hi Snapcam, You don't supply much in the way of technical details. What format is the soundtrack file - WAV, MP3, OGG, other? Given that the problem always occurs at the same place, what are the characteristics of the items that make up the soundtrack at that point on the timeline? By characteristics I mean: stereo or mono?, sample rate? (e.g. 44100Hz), sample format? (e.g. 32bit float); and especially - were all the original items making up the mix at that point all of the same set of characteristics? regards, Peter
  18. I envy you that trip! Have a great time and get your batteries fully recharged. regards, Peter
  19. Robert, I'm in the same boat as Dave. My Nikon D70 does not shoot video and I don't see myself buying a camera that does in the foreseeable future. regards, Peter
  20. These will probably be what are known as "false positives". If you know that you haven't changed or downloaded them recently, and if your anti-virus software hasn't reported any other attempted infections any where else on your system, I wouldn't worry too much. Report these false positives to the support team for AVAST. It is their problem to resolve these. regards, Peter
  21. I simply choose which ever of the Presets is appropriate for the aspect ratio and image size used when the sequence was built (all recent sequences are built to 1920x1080 but older ones were built to 1024x768). Most of the time I take the Medium quality option (rather than either Low or High). I've never been dissatisfied with any of the videos when watching them on my Samsung 37" TV; but then again I know my eyesight isn't as perfect as it was. regards, Peter
  22. Dave, I, too, have created H264 MPEG4 videos out of PTE. Like you, I have played them on the TV via a USB memory stick. What is the slight loss of quality that you see? How does it manifest itself? And how far away from the TV set are you sitting when you see this problem? regards, Peter
  23. Ron, It's gone! use F3/F4 instead. Peter
  24. Wizard, When you install v7 beta releases, read each step of the install carefully, at one point you get a chance to decide whether you want to have the PTE file extensions associated with this version. I always tick them "off" rather than "on". This means that if I double-click on a PTE project it opens in v6.5. To open a project in v7 beta I have to launch v7 and then do a File...Open command. But as DaveG pointed out, once you have opened a project in v7 you cannot open it in an earlier version. This is because each new version of PTE adds features that never existed in the earlier versions; so the earlier version doesn't know what to do with the project code. regards, Peter
  25. Lennart, I feel sure that the sample rate of the audio is the root cause of the "out of sync". All my sequences (EXE and video) use 44.1KHz sampled audio - and I've never had a problem. Peter
