  1. Dave, I do apply my own "version control" to all my important files. It comes naturally to me having been a Quality Systems Auditor during my working life. Versioning was at the heart of Document Control in all Quality Systems. regards, Peter
  2. Jeff, As I understand "Auto-Save", it doesn't save a special copy; it simply overwrites your existing project file. This means that, with Auto-Save turned on, there is no way to get back to the start of the current session once the first auto-save has happened. For that reason I leave it turned off. And because you get the pop-up window in which to set your time interval for saves, it doesn't seem to put a tick beside the entry in the View command menu. You have to drill in to the next level to see if the tick box is on or off. regards, Peter
  3. Here looks a good place to try and download it: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html regards, Peter
  4. Paul, That I cannot answer. I can speak only for my own, very limited experience of ATi graphics. My laptop works fine with my digital projector. If you have concerns then you need to arrange a "try before you buy" - and that might mean using a local specialist rather than one of the big Internet or Retail Park players. That's likely to put the cost up a little. regards, Peter
  5. Phil, I cannot help on the HD video side of things but for PTE you do not need the latest and most powerful hardware. Igor and his team go to great lengths to give us the wonderful features of PTE packaged such that they will run successfully on relatively modest resources. regards, Peter
  6. Mark, You say that you have rebuilt your PC. From that I assume that you are quite at home fiddling with PC "techie" things. The PTE project file (*.pte) can be editted with Notepad. So one option open to you is to take a backup copy of your PTE project file (for recovery if you make a mess of the edit) and then edit the PTE file to change the disk and folder names to match your new structure. regards, Peter
  7. Paul, I think you are recalling discussions that took place some 3 or more years ago about some ATi cards not supporting colour management profiles properly. I recall that Igor took this matter up with ATi support but they took the view that the cards involved were older ones and that there was no business case for upgrading their driver software. I bought an Acer laptop some 3-4 years ago and have had no problems with it. It uses ATi graphics. The only comment I have about it is that on its own monitor screen the colours look a little off (a greenish-yellow cast to them) in comparison to the monitor on my desktop system (nVidia 8400GS). But when projected from the laptop through my Dell digital projector they look fine. None of my equipment has been colour-profiled but everything (camera, computer, projector) is set to use sRGB. regards, Peter
  8. What bit-rate was the previous version? Knowing this will help us all avoid this trap. regards, Peter
  9. Tom, I guess some folks, like me, don't like downloading software when they know that it isn't necessary to do so simply to upload a file and then send the URL via an e-mail or forum post. regards, Peter
  10. Joy, Did you zip the exe file before uploading to MediaFire? Most of the anti-virus programs in use today frown upon a downloaded exe as being "untrustworthy". It is usually better to upload the zip file and then let the end-user download that and unzip its contents. regards, Peter
  11. nobeefstu, Do you really fancy doing that on a slide of, say, 250+ objects? As vilara has said, the suggested technique works fine for simple situations; but for anything complex, it is just too time-consuming and too prone to error. I can see the benefit in having a special case of "Copy & Paste" that copies all the keyframe data values that are associated with the end of the slide and then pastes them into a new slide but with all their timestamps set to zero - thus starting the next slide at exactly the same state as the previous one ended in. When I did my Rubik's Cube sequence, this feature, had it existed, would have saved me several hours of editing time. regards, Peter
  12. Using the Fullscreen view you can drag and drop to your hearts content. Copy and Paste and then Delete the original selections. It is just like using a lightbox in the old days. And I find that I can bring the slider all the way over to the left and can still identify the images from the little thumbnails - and that gives me about 300 images on view at one time. regards, Peter
  13. Try View|Fullscreen View... and use the slider to set the size of the image thumbnails, then use normal Windows selection (Click, Shift+Click, Ctrl+Click) to select what you want and then use Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, or Ctrl+V as you would in any other Windows application - or drag and rop (which is even easier) regards, Peter
  14. Hi Mark,

Thanks for the "friendship" and comment.

  15. Mark, Yes, it's compact (VERY!!) But all the edges are jaggedy during the animation. In their drive towards compactness, they've sacrificed quality. A standard that is (was?) good enough for the games industry isn't good enough for me as an AV worker. Now, if the wizards at Wnsoft could achieve that sort of compression with no loss of quality..... regards, Peter
  16. José, I have only very limited experience with Masks but my understanding is that they work very much like Layer masks in Photoshop. So, I think all you need to do is put your clouds under the control of their mask and then place the two mask containers in the desired order in the Objects list by using Ctrl+PgUp/Ctrl+PgDown. You might need to make one of the masks a "negative", perhaps? (Use black where you would normally have white, and white where you would normally have black - just a thought) regards, Peter
  17. Barry, Those images aren't the work of an apprentice - they're the work of a master craftsman! Absolutely stunning imagery. regards, Peter
  18. Gary, I've deleted your post for you! regards, Peter
  19. Anchors Aweigh! ?? Or something from the soundtrack of "Top Gun" ?? regards, Peter
  20. Doug, Download, install and run this utility on your old computer: http://www.mediafire.com/?mzimoduazzy. It will extract your old PTE key into a file that you can then copy via a USB stick onto your new computer. It was written by nobeefstu for the benefit of the PTE community. Why not also download and install the latest version of PTE (v6.5.2) from the Wnsoft website and explore all the new features? Your old key will work with that, too. And both versions will happily coexist. regards, Peter
  21. Ray, I'm using v6.5.2 and the Customize Copyright function is working properly for me. regards, Peter
  22. Tom, I think you have been the victim of a spamming hoax. I'd like to bet that there isn't a single real virus on your machine. It was just some criminals trying to get you to part with your money and your credit card details - I hope you didn't send them the money. I've had these scenarios two or three times in the past - but I'm too wily a bird to fall for their tricks. I suggest you run a full scan with your existing, or one of the reputable and free, anti-virus products to reassure yourself? regards, Peter
  23. Geoff, I've just run through those steps on my Vista system and had no problems. Do you have View|Advanced Options|Enable PTE Program Sounds ticked? If so, do you hear the click after the exe file is Created in both instances or only in the first instance? regards, Peter
  24. Barry, Neither! Its the way PTE works. In order to get the name to change in the Object list in the O&A window you have to replace the image file via the Properties tab in O&A window. If this behaviour is different to previous versions of PTE I guess it is as a consequence of being able to assign names to slide for use by the "Go to Slide <name>" action. regards, Peter
  25. Hi Geoff, Like Dave, I have never experienced this on either XP/SP3 or Vista Home Premium. From the file info in your screen shot, it looks as though your PC might be a multi-user set-up? If it is, then does the userid that you used to login have all the necessary privileges to access files in that folder structure? The folder looks like it might be some kind of temporary storage area and the file name is, I believe, the name constructed by PTE when building an exe file during Preview. Is it possible that you have some unwanted "dross" lying around on the hard drive and are in need of a tidy up? regards, Peter
