  1. Gary, I fear Colin must have been half-asleep when he posted! 16million plus colours and 8-bit technology are mutually exclusive. In binary arithmetic the maximum number that can be represented by 8 bits is 256 (2 raised to the power 8) Two raised to the power 24 (= 24-bit technology) gives 16777216 as the maximum possible number. 24-bit is definitely a positive as far as you are concerned. regards, Peter
  2. AbdolReza, I have modifed your project file with the values that I suggested in my post above and have attached it. Open this project using v6.5 and I think it will work as you want it to. regards, Peter Project2_Aug9-2010_21-25-35.zip
  3. Colin, I didn't see "a lot" of jerkiness. And my PC is getting on for five years old so it isn't "state of the art". A few suggestions relating to animation in general, based upon my experience when animating Rubik's Cube... If you are using a transition other than Quick, ensure that the animation extends all the way through to the end of the out-going transition. This will give a smooth flow to the slide changes. Consider using "Smooth" rather than "Linear" for all the animations, especially the rotations. Consider using the "Anti-shimmering (mip-mapping)" option to try and smooth any jerky transitions. Sometimes it has no effect: sometimes it works wonders! You may have already learned these lessons but others seeking inspiration from your work may benefit from this advice. Ideal choice of music for this kind of sequence. Well done!
  4. Gary, I'd noticed this behaviour, too. I think it has been like this since the last software upgrade. My experience is that you can get it to recognise that you have read everything by clicking on the link for "(Mark all items as read)" or words to that effect that you find over to the right and below the "View New Content" link. regards, Peter
  5. AbdolReza, To create a slide show that can be manually controlled (one where the user decides when to move to the next slide) you need to have these settings: - Project Options| Main - "Wait for a key press or mouse click" must be ticked - Project Options| Main - "Time interval for new slides" can be any low value, for example 1 second - Project Options| Advanced - set the two mouse buttons to have the actions "Next Slide" and "Previous Slide" (this allows the user control to move forwards and backwards through the slides) Try these settings on your sequence. They do not solve the text problem but this is a much simpler way of creating a show that can be controlled by the user. regards, Peter
  6. Igor, I agree that AbdolReza's long slide times were very unusual, but these were not the root cause of his text problems. I have modified his project by ticking "Wait for ...", assigning the mouse buttons the Next and Previous Slide actions and setting all slides to 4 seconds. The text still does not appear. I think nobeefstu may have identified the root cause of the text problem (see his post #22 above): mixing Unicode and ANSI character sets in the same string. regards, Peter
  7. AbdolReza, But you have to use the mouse to click on the hyperlink, so why not do things the simpler way - a manually controlled mouse driven sequence? regards, Peter
  8. Yes, what you want can be achieved. See this post http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12222. I think it is asking essentially the same question. regards, Peter
  9. Ivan, I think this will achieve what you want, but I'm not 100% certain. In Project Options|Screen tab set the values as follows: - Fullscreen - Aspect ratio of a slide = 15:10 (this is the preset that is equivalent to 3:2) - Virtual size of slide = 1620 x 1080 (assuming your TV is 1080 standard) - Fixed size of slide (in pixels) = ticked Those settings should ensure that your zooms never exceed 1620x1080. You will, of course, see black stripes at each side of the 16:9 television display but that is inevitable, I'm afraid. regards, Peter
  10. Xaver's post #5 had been reported to moderators. Since Brian had quoted it in full I could see no reason to withhold that post any longer. I have released it today at c.09:30 UK time. Peter
  11. Ray, Try searching the forum for "colour space" (no quotes). You'll get plenty of hits on previous discussions of this kind of problem. regards, Peter
  12. AbdolReza, Having studied your project file my conclusion is that the problem must be caused by the text content. What happens if you delete one "character" at a time from the script? Does the script, at some point, then become visible? Also, in response to your ask about anyone there... be aware that, in western culture, the weekend (the days we name as Saturday and Sunday) are traditionally days of leisure that we spend with our families and friends, and not at our places of work or at or computers. regards, Peter
  13. Eric, That's because you have taken a v6.5 project file back to v6.0. When I do the same, I get the same outcome as you. regards, Peter
  14. Mike, Further to my previous post, is this a crude form of what you are wanting to achieve (minus the curl)? regards, Peter RotatingPostcard.zip
  15. Mike, You can certainly set up your image objects so that, as the postcard turns about an axis it reveals a different image on the reverse side. But I don't know of a way of having the curl effect applied to an individual object. Is the "curl" vital? Or is it more vital to have the text on the reverse of the image and then rotate the card about some axis? regards, Peter
  16. Lin, The pain may hurt right now but it will ease. And the memories of the good times will last forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Peter
  17. Those folks at WnSoft think of everything - but don't always tell us about it! regards, Peter
  18. Malcolm, I wonder if Dell have done some OEM customization to Windows 7 that Acer haven't - or vice versa! regards, Peter
  19. I have had one instance of this happen to me. On thinking about it I am wondering: PTE v6.5 introduced the feature whereby PTE remembers whether the user had the waveform showing or not the last time they used the Timeline view. Is there a bug associated with a brand new install of PTE v6.5 in that it requires a stop-start in order to set the relevant control parameter - and until that is done it will not display the waveform at all. In my case, it happened with the very first project that I tried to open in v6.5 official release and has not happened since. regards, Peter
  20. No doubt Igor and his team of wizards already have some thoughts about possible future enhancements to the audio support within PTE, Here is a suggestion from me. The current behaviour of a right click in the Timeline window is to open a pop-up window that has various options of relevance to the slide that is occupying that part of the timeline. How much more useful would it be if the action following right click was dependent upon which part of the Timeline window was under the pointer? If the pointer is hovering over the slide flag or over any part of the Timeline view that lies above the level of the flag the action is as now. But if the pointer is hovering over the waveform area of the Timeline view, the action of right click is to open up the audio clip properties and envelope windows for the piece of audio that lies below the pointer. Instant access to the relevant audio data with just one click. regards, Peter
  21. I think it would be a useful addition to the audio features if it was possible to change the order of individual audio clips within a track. I see this as being analogous to the abiity to change the order of objects in the object stack. At present the only technique is to remove the clips and then add them in the desired order. regards, Peter
  22. John, You and me both !!! regards, Peter
  23. You could, as an interim measure, use Project Options|Comments to add the Slide Number to each image. Your clients could then use good old paper and pen to make a note of the images that they like. regards, Peter
  24. If your users are PC savvy they can use the CMD window of the operating system and do a "Run slideshow.exe -nn" where nn is the slide number in the sequence (eg. Slideshow.exe -21 will start at the 21st image.) regards, Peter
  25. Jean-Cyprien, Mon ami, I think you have misunderstood. I do not want to include a video stream within a PTE EXE file. I want to create a continuous loop video from an entire PTE project (i.e. Create HD Video for PC and Mac or Create DVD-Video but with the video looping when it gets to the end). regards, Peter
