  1. Danny, Just add the four pieces of music, in the correct order, via Project Options...Music tab - and remove everything you've done with music already. regards, Peter
  2. Dave, Depending upon the settings of your Anti-Virus software, it may scan the exe file as soon as you double-click on it to launch it. In this situation you would see a delay (perhaps 2-10 seconds) before the exe started running. The other possibility, of course, is that it could be performing a scheduled scan or a scheduled update of the detection files. Neither of these would directly affect the launch of the exe but they would consume PC resources which might be required by the exe as it runs. regards, Peter
  3. Lin, Is the as yet unconfirmed performance factor related to the fact that some (all?) video cards will, if needed, take some main RAM memory to supplement their onboard memory? My nVidia 8400GS has 256MB on board but will share up to a further 768MB. So, if it does take some RAM, then the speed of the RAM, the speed of the internal bus, the other activity (if any) in the PC which also wants RAM and possibly even the speed of the main processor could all come into play. And if the system is busy enough and RAM-constrained enough to be very actively paging, then the speed of the paging disk and the data bus it uses will also be factors. As I'm sure you are aware, PC performance is a minefield because everything interacts together. The only golden rule is that it cannot go faster than its slowest component. regards, Peter
  4. Not sure the post from showman (#12 above) was intended for this topic. I don't see any relevance. regards, Peter
  5. Hi Lin, The new upload solved my problem with WinZip. Thanks! The show ran successfully on my nVidia 8400GS. The only aberrations were that the zoom from the globe to just the tree scene was very jerky (and, I thought, at too fast a pace; but that's an artistic call, not a technical one) and then each time after you settled on a new globe, there was some "juddering" of the image which slowly wore off. But the pans from globe to globe were as smooth as silk. Thanks for sharing this with us. regards, Peter
  6. Lin, When I try to open the Windows version, WinZip v9 says it isn't a valid archive file. regards, Peter
  7. Even a copy disc (CD or DVD) has to be burned. What doesn't have to occur when duplicating from a master is the rendering of the video stream (and that is what takes up all the time during the original burn) regards, Peter
  8. kessi, I've sent an e-mail direct to WnSoft on your behalf alerting them to this post. Obviously, being the weekend now, they may not pick it up until Monday. regards, Peter
  9. PTE-VideoBuilder does not burn CDs - only DVDs. In any case, you cannot play video through a DVD player-TV set from off a CD. If you want to play a PTE sequence through a computer from off a CD just copy the .exe file onto the CD as you would with any other data file on a data CD. regards, Peter
  10. Eric, In my Focus and Sound check sequence, which I run before every show that I present, I have set things up as follows: The whole sequence is manually controlled via "Wait for a key press...". The mouse buttons are programmed Left=Next, Right=Previous. There is no music added via Project Options. Slide 1 - Black Slide Slide 2 - The focus check image with a button labelled Next Slide 3 - The sound test image with a button labelled Stop Slide 4 - Black Slide The buttons are programmed to go to Next Slide. The music file is added to Slide 3 via Add Sound icon on the top toolbar. The "play it" routine is: double-click to launch off the desktop, left click to advance from slide 1 to slide 2, check and adjust focus, click the Next button, check and adjust the sound level on the speakers, click the Stop button, either left click or Esc to get back to the desktop. Once all the checks are complete I then launch the Menu sequence for the night's programme. This starts with a copy of the background image and I can leave this up on screen until I'm ready to get into the programme of sequences. So all my programme menus are two slide menus (the background image and then the thumbnails on the same background image) regards, Peter
  11. You say in your original post that you have upgraded your computer. Have you downloaded and installed all the latest drivers for all your various cards and devices? If I had upgraded my PC, I would regard this as an absolutely essential step, especially in connection with a new operating system such as Windows 7. And I would also go and re-check all the drivers every week or two for perhaps a couple of months in case any new drivers are released that resolve problems associated with Windows 7. regards, Peter
  12. Jim/Eric, Are you using Run application... or Run Slideshow... to launch items off the menu? I use Run Slideshow... and leave D3D ticked ON in all sequences. But I do not put any animation on the menu sequence; only on the launched sequences. So far, I've had no problems. regards, Peter
  13. Jim, This topic was discussed earlier this year. As I recall, the consensus view was that the only reason for using a button is to have an action associated with it; therefore there was no need to change the mouse pointer to indicate the presence of an action. Whereas for images, text and other objects the change of mouse pointer did indicate the presence of an action where there might, in different circumstances, be none. regards, Peter
  14. Since switching to Firefox as my web browser just over 12 months ago I have had no problems of any kind accessing any of the sites that I visit. To those who are experiencing problems using Internet Explorer I would suggest you give Firefox a try. It's free software. It's faster than IE. It's automatically updated just like IE. And, in my experience, it works - first time, every time! regards, Peter
  15. Jim, As far as I know, it is!!! regards, Peter
  16. Eric, Project Options...Main tab Wait for a key pres of mouse click to show next slide Turns the menu into a manually advanced sequence. Add a button coded to Exit on mouse click to give you a clean, professional get-out route.
  17. Jim, I should have made things clearer. The project that this question relates to is a spoken word only project - no images, no music. A local retired priest and one of the local church's bible readers would like to produce "talking book" CDs of the gospels to be distributed around the local old folk's homes, hospices and similar. I'm working with the bible reader, doing the recordings using my Samson Zoom H4 and also doing all the post-processing. The original recordings are WAV format and all the post-processing is done in that format. But now I'm at the stage of considering how best to reduce the file sizes so that we end up with as few CDs as possible; hence the question. regards, Peter
  18. I think I know the answer but I would welcome confirmation (or correction if I've got it wrong!) When creating MP3 files from WAV files (using Audacity) am I right in thinking that, compared to music files, I could get away with a lower bit rate for spoken voice files? regards, Peter
  19. Ron, You say the show was created at 1920x1200 - is that a typo? If not, then you are trying to fit 1920x1200 into 1920x1080. I would expect the image to be reduced (with proportions constrained) until the 1200 given pixels fill the 1080 available pixels for height; thus leaving you a little short on both sides. I think you need to make the show at "Full HD", i.e. at 1920x1080. Then it should fill both axes of the screen. regards, Peter
  20. Eric, You will need to use the action "Run application or open file..." rather than "Run Slideshow" or "Run Slideshow with Return". You can open any file at all using that action provided that the PC has on it the right software to process that file: i.e. to open an Excel spreadsheet you would need Micorsoft Excel present on the PC. You can assign the action to any object but would most probably want to assign it to a button or a thumbnail image. regards, Peter
  21. Laszlo, Please be aware that the Run Slideshow and Run Slideshow with Return options require that all EXE files are created using the same version level of PTE (i.e. all with 5.64 or all with v6.00 or all with v6.01) If you are unable to control the version used then you should use the Run application or open file... option. regards, Peter
  22. Gary, I think there are two levels of testing that you need to consider: - does it work at all? (for which just a couple of images and a snatch of sound will be enough) - does it handle my usual transitions, animations, etc.? (for which a more complex sequence would be appropriate) In both cases, a key question to be answered is: what is the image and sound quality like? Like Ron, I'm going to be following this thread with interest. regards, Peter
  23. Do these Digital Frame devices have audio capability or are they essentially a silent device? regards, Peter
  24. Bonjour loulou, Ici on parle anglais, s'il vous plait! (Please speak in English). This is an international forum with members from all over thw world. Our only common language is English. If you do not speak, write or understand English, you would, perhaps, be better to join one of the French language forums such as Diapositif.net. regards, Peter
  25. Anthony, On a simple arrangement of objects you will not usually encounter a problem. But with a complex arrangement of multiple objects where some are obscured by others "stacked on top", the mouse detects only on the top-most object in the image area - unless you select "Ignore objects not selected". So, in this situation you must select "Ignore objects...", then select the object you want to work on by clicking its name in the object list and finally use the mouse to grab a handle or the centre spot. regards, Peter
