  1. AbdolReza, It is not possible to have all these wonderful features of PTE and also expect the memory usage to be constant no matter which features we use. And the more features we use the more resources will be required. We all have to accept that there comes a point where our existing computer is no longer powerful enough to do all that we would like it to. It is not reasonable to expect the developers to provide all these wonderful new features and for there to be no overhead in using them. regards, Peter
  2. Daniel, I have sympathy with your point of view. But I find it useful to be able to set a new general "pacing" for a sequence by changing the time interval and being able to set it for all the existing slides. The ideal solution would be a set of options: - Set new time interval on ALL slides - Set new time interval only on newly added slides - Set new time interval only on uncustomized slides and newly added slides The first two options already exist; it is only the third option that needs adding. regards, Peter
  3. DaveG, Not a bad attempt, look you, at some Yorkshire dialect by an inhabitant of Wales. Well done! regards, Peter
  4. Lin, If the song is by Enya, here is a website that provides a translation of the lyrics to all her songs: http://www.pathname.com/enya/ Google for "Enya song lyrics English" will find other sites of interest. regards, Peter
  5. Mike, My PTE key is the one that I installed with V4.42 and, as far as I know, it's location in the registry hasn't changed. It is in the same place as yours. Also, take a look at the FAQs in the Tutorials section of this forum website. There is an entry there about registering the product. regards, Peter
  6. I didn't know that's how it behaved. It's true what they say: we're never too old to learn! regards, Peter
  7. The product is now at beta20. Please upgrade to beta20 and let us know if the problem persists. Nobody else has reported this problem at any beta level and I don't see it at beta 18. regards, Peter
  8. Hi Mike, Just download version 5.52 deluxe from the WnSoft website and register your existing product key. This will give you the full function of PTE, including Video-Builder. But every video you create with Video-Builder will carry a scrolling banner across the bottom of the screen to the effect that it was made using a trial copy of PTE. For creating EXE files, you will have all the function with no restrictions, scrolls or nags. You don't need Administrator rights to run PTE. regards, Peter
  9. Hi Colin, What file format is the music stored in; WAV, MP3, other? What file format is the bird-call stored in; WAV, MP3, other? From where were these recordings sourced; CD track rip, Internet download, elsewhere? Please provide as much detail as you can (bearing in mind that I cannot see your system!). The line just above the waveform display is the "timeline". The values that you see there are the timepoints that Audacity has established from the data file that you Imported or Opened. From what you have said, it sounds as though your source music file is, in some way or other, not as you were expecting it to be. I have some ideas but need to have the above points clarified in order to identify the most probable reason. regards, Peter
  10. Hi Igor, Enjoy a well-deserved break with your family and friends. Happy New Year to you and all the team at WnSoft - and thanks for all your hard work on this wonderful software. regards, Peter
  11. Hi Paolo, Welcome to the forum! You can see which slides you have already chosen by looking at the file name. The slides that you have chosen are in bold font (slide.jpg) whereas the ones that you haven't yet chosen are in normal font (slide.jpg) regards, Peter
  12. Igor, I confirm that the latest full-system scan did not find any false positives. Symantec have done their job properly! Thanks for your assistance on this matter. regards, Peter
  13. Chris, I see from your latest image that you were using the WelcomeDemo project. I tried this myself with beta 18 and could not reproduce the problem. Whatever the cause might be it isn't systemic to all PTE users. Sorry I cannot help you more. You'll have to wait for Igor to pick this one up. regards, Peter
  14. Chris, I'm assuming that you are talking about the two arrow buttons in the top-right corner, above the Animation tab. Correct? What version did this happen in? I ask because it was a minor problem in earlier releases of version 5. But Igor fixed it and I have just tried to reproduce the problem using v5.52 and v5.6 beta 18 and cannot get either of them to "lose" the right hand arrow button. Please confirm the PTE version number you are using (launch your project and do help...About Pictures to Exe...) and also confirm the exact sequence of events that results in the loss of the button. regards, Peter
  15. Peter, If you are trying to achieve rapid changes (using "Quick" transition) of large (expressed in pixels by pixels) image files, you could be overloading the resources of your graphics card (even though the nVidia 9600GT is a top-end card). regards, Peter
  16. Hi Nettleton, That's an interesting observation. I don't have to re-register; it happens automatically. If Igor reads this topic perhaps he could coment on this difference in behaviour. I cannot explain it. regards, Peter
  17. Yes, upgrading to v5.6 is free if you already have a full, licensed copy of an earlier version of PTE. No, installing v5.6 does not over-write v5.52. Provided you take the default options during the install, PTE v5.6 will co-exist alongside all other versions of PTE (indeed, each of the beta levels will co-exist alongside all the other beta versions, too). Upgrades to existing versions are "free for life" on the base PTE code and free for two years on the Video-Builder feature. I don't understand what you mean by "half installing". Did you abort the install at some point prior to its completion? If you already have a fully registered version of PTE, then all you need do to install PTE v5.6 beta alongside is to let the install process complete. It should pick up the same "key" as the existing version. regards, Peter
  18. Probably the best option is to produce the sequence as an EXE file and then upload that to one of the many free file hosting services (for example: www.mediafire.com). Then send the link to this file in your e-mail (the website will provide the link at the end of the upload). If your recipients include both Windows PC and Mac users then create the file as a HD Video for PC or Mac rather than as an EXE. regards, Peter
  19. Lin, My sincerest condolences to you. Barbara, Whilst Lin takes time out to grieve his recent loss, I'll try my best to make things a little clearer. Please try following the steps below: - using PTE v5.6 beta 18, use File...Open... to navigate to the Examples folder and open the WelcomeDemo project file (the path will be something like: C:\Program Files\WnSoft Pictures to Exe\5.6 Beta 18\All\Examples\WelcomeDemo) - use the PTE Folder panel to navigate to the same folder so that the images appear in the File Panel - select the third slide in the Slide List and then go into the O&A window - Click on the Play button to see the animation on this slide Now let's start doing some reverse engineering: This slide has the following objects: - the main image - a Mask Container The Mask Container has the following objects: - a Rectangle (study its Properties: Igor has used this to give a background to the text) - a Mask (using the image called Mask1) The Rectangle has the following objects: - the text Next, click on the main image's name in the Objects list and then click on the "Left Arrow" button above the Play button. This will position you at the origin keyframe. Now click on each of the other object names in turn and note the following: - where is the object positioned on the image - what keyframes (if any) does it have The essential point to grasp as you do this is the position and animation of the Mask object (Mask1). It is positioned low down on the slide and travels across the screen from left to right. It is aligned so that its center passes along the centre-line of the text. The black part of the mask prevents us from seeing the Rectangle and Text. The white part of the mask allows us to see the Rectangle and Text. I hope you have been able to follow this and that it has helped you to begin to understand what a Mask is and how it can be used. regards, Peter
  20. Barbara/Robert/Eric, The "Mask" is simply a Black and white image (like a Layer Mask in Photoshop). I suggest you start by creating a white circle or rectangle in an otherwise black image. When you go into O&A and click on the "M", navigate to this B&W image as your mask. Then add a child image to the mask. The child image should be another real image. You can then experiment with changing opacity of the various objects and with applying the various animations to the various objects. You need to have a stack of objects that reads, top to bottom: Main image, Mask Container as a child of the Main Image, B&W image (= the Mask) as a child of the Mask Container, Second Image as a child of the Mask Container (I'm not sure whether this image should be above or below the Mask). From here, just experiment until you begin to understand what effects you can achieve and how to achieve them. regards, Peter
  21. Yep, there really is a Santa Claus; and he's called Igor Kokarev! Many thanks for this little Christmas present, Igor! Regards, Peter
  22. Ken, I cannot speak for the situation in Canada or, indeed, for anywhere other than the UK; but here, as soon as Alan has recorded that MIDI file, it is immediately copyrighted in his name - no board approval is needed. If he composed the piece then he owns the entire copyright set: composer, performer and producer. If he played a piece of music from printed musical score, then whoever wrote that piece owns the copyright for composer. And if he bought that sheet music from a music store (high street or online) he has paid the composer royalty fee as part of the purchase price - so he is covered on that aspect, too. There have been discussions about copyright several times on the forum. Basically it's a "can of worms" (or, if you prefer, a "gravy train" for the lawyers). And the can and the worms are different in each country. But the bottom line is: there is no such thing as copyright-free anything. And everything any of us create (written word, recorded music or sound, images, PTE sequences) carries at least one - and possibly many more copyrights. regards, Peter
  23. Ian, Two excellent PTE sequences on your Vimeo site. Thanks for sharing them. Have a great festive season! regards, Peter
  24. Brian, Many thanks for your advice - and the words of caution. I will proceed with appropriate care. regards, Peter
  25. Eric, That screen snap-shot is consistent with you having double-clicked on the wosclubv5.6B16.pte filename or file icon and Windows having used its File Associations table to identify that files with extension .pte are to be opened in PTE v5.5. Given that you unticked the two boxes about file associations when you installed PTE v5.6 beta16, this is all exactly as it should be. Windows does not know that the wosclub file was created using v5.6 beta16. Only PTE and you know that! And PTE knows only AFTER it has opened it and loaded into memory. Everything is working as it should. And, I'm afraid, there is no way to make it work as you seem to want it to. I'll explain more fully when we meet in January. By the way, it is bad practice to include fullstops as part of your filename. The fullstop is the delimiter between the filename and the file extension. Better to use hyphens or underscores. regards, Peter
