I have worked it out thanks to Barry Beckham. I watched his video titled "Smoothing Line". Various effects can be applied to Hour Hand, Shapes, Gates and Page Transitions. SM

DaveGee, is there an explanation anywhere on how to do this ?

I have the Pro edition on my Mac.

I would like to create a blur transition where the blur between two slides moves from left to right or right to left or top to bottom. Is that possible with standard PTE AV Studio 11 ?

Hi Igor, I would like to beta test PTE AV Studio for the Mac. I have 3 Macs : #1. MacBook Pro 16" 2019, 2.4 GHz, 64 GB RAM, 8 TB SSD running Catalina. #2. Mac Mini 2018, 32GB RAM 2 TB SSD running Mojave. #3, Macbook 12" for travel, running Mojave. I have a licence to PTE AV Studio Pro 10 which I run on a desktop PC with the current version of Windows 10. I am very happy to report that Mac Apps work fine in Beta 12. I reported this problem yesterday ... today it is fixed. Much appreciated. You guys are stars !

Mac Apps created in 6.5 Beta 11 will not run on my Mac Pro. A project created in PTE 6.0 creates good Mac Apps. The same project in 6.5 creates Mac Apps but they will not run on my Mac. Best regards, Steve.

Hi Igor, I am very interested to help in any way to test the Mac version of PTE. PTE on the Mac should be a real winner. There's no significant competition. My Mac Pro System :- 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 10 Gb 800 MHz DDr2 FB-DIMM Graphics : NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Operating System : Mac OS X Version 10.5.6 Best regards, Steve Mullarkey

Hi Luc, On my Mac Pro I found that PTE and its .exe output slideshow files run smoothly under Boot Camp but are panning and zooming is jerky under VMWare Fusion. This makes sense as under Boot Camp the system is really a straightforward PC running Windows. Under Fusion, or Parallels, there is all the additional overhead of running both Mac OSX and Windows at the same time. As a starter I am hoping a future version of PTE will be able to produce a slideshow file that will runs smoothly directly on Mac OSX. Then hopefully in the not too distant future we will see a native Mac version of PTE Regards, Steve.

Lin, After reading your post I downloaded a trial copy of CrossOver Mac. Unfortunately PTE and its output .exe files are not supported applications under CrossOver and have to be run in unsupported mode. When I tried to 'install' a PTE .exe output file under CrossOver my whole Mac locked-up so I've decided not to pursue that approach. Have you tried it. Any success ? Regards, Steve.

Lin, I have run PTE and its .exe output files under Fusion and Boot Camp on my Mac. PTE files run jerkily under Fusion but are fine under Boot Camp. I tried the MPEG output files on the Mac with QuickTime and also the free VLC app but both gave jerky results. It would be good to have a PTE output that would run directly on the Mac. When I saw "HD Video for PC and Mac" as an option with PTE 5.6 I thought that this would generate something I can run directly on the Mac under OSX. Unfortunately the Pan and Zoom effects, though quite gentle in my slide-shows are still jerky. There is a slide-show program for the Mac, Photo Magico. I haven't tried it but I looked at the web-site, http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/overview/, the feature set looks quite limited when compared with PTE. I am hoping the Mac version of PTE arrives sooner rather than later. Steve.

I want to produce a Slideshow to run on an Apple Mac. I tried using PTE 5.6 to produce a HD MP4 but the results are embarrassingly jerky. I see that others in the forum have the same problem. The results are equally bad on both a PC and a Mac Pro. Any suggestions as to how to produce an acceptable show to run on an Apple Mac ?

Hi Igor, Thanks for your reply. I do hope you can include this in the next version, 5.7. I use quite a lot of text and run slideshows on various different PCs over which I have no control. After a couple of embarrassing moments with replacement fonts looking terrible and not fitting the screen I found the "Rasterize to PNG image" option and now use it. However the new feature would increase my productivity considerably. It would also ensure I don't forget to Rasterize any text objects. Thanks for such a great product.

Earlier this year in this forum I saw that 5.6 was to include a solution to the font transfer problem :- "In 5.6 we plan to automatically store text objects as vector images (unlimited quality for any display resolution) and a problem with absent unique fonts will go away forever." Is this in 5.6 ? Best regards, Steve.

Many thanks, Igor, that will be great. I hadn't known this was an issue until recently I presented a PTE AV at my Photography Club. It was shown on the club's laptop and I was confused and disappointed when the lovely Papyrus font I had chosen displayed as a large-size Arial and many text objects couldn't be seen in full. Despite this problem PTE absolutely starred when compared with the Proshow presentations prepared by several other club members. The quality of the images plus the smoothness of transitions and PZR effects was brilliant. I think several club members might be changing from Proshow to PTE ! My thanks to the PTE development team for such a good product and to the many helpful guys on this forum for such great and tireless support.

Has this been fixed in the new 5.5 version ?

fh1805 and The Dom, Many thanks for your suggestions. If I understand you correctly you are suggesting I step through a show slide by slide until I find the missing image file. This is very tedious and time-consuming if the missing slide is towards the end of a long show, say 99th out of 100. I do think the dialog box should be re-sizable and also scrollable to the end of the file descriptor; another helpful aid would be a tool-tip showing the full file descriptor when the mouse is over the missing file(s) in the dialog box. Best regards, Steve.

Missing Image Files in Project. I opened a project which has 5 missing image files out of maybe 80 files. However I can't read the full file description in the Error dialog box. The dialog box isn't big enough. Could you make the dialog box sizable please or provide some alternative solution so I can see what the files are especially when they are in a fairly deep folder structure. Many thanks. Steve.

Firstly, many, many thanks to everybody who is helping here. I am sorry I'm not replying as quickly as I would like to every msg. I mentioned above I am in the process of moving house from Hobart to Sydney which is a trip of around 1500 kilometers and includes a ten hour crossing of Bass Straight so I have a heck of a lot on my plate at the moment. I'll be settled in Sydney I hope by the 3rd week of January and will try everything that has been suggested at that time. The new home is a scaling down in size so we have to deal with what to keep and what to pass on. I'm sure many of you have had similarly joyous episodes in your lives In the meantime I will try to answer a few of your questions :- I have used 6 images in my test slide-show, one of which is the image I used in an earlier msg to show the effect. I hope I have been clear that the effect occurs during the transition only. Once each image is static on the screen there is no problem. To show you the effect I paused the screen towards the end of one transition using the spacebar in PTE. It's interesting that although the image was then static it was still showing the effect from the transition. I was then able to do a screen capture which is what I attached to the earlier msg. The six images used are of Venice taken early in the morning when a mist had rolled in from the sea so they would have been taken roughly facing east. The date they were taken was 1-Oct-2006. However, they are far from the only images I have seen the effect. It tends to occur when there are large areas that are very identical and usually light in colour, so a light colour sky would be typical. After all your helpful suggestions I feel 95% sure it is the Thinkpad video card and probably the answer is another laptop. It's a shame that laptops seem to have problems with slideshows as they are such useful PCs for taking slideshows to various different venues to display. If only PTE was as good as Proshow with this problem because in every other aspect of Image Quality PTE absolutely beats the pants off ProShow. My thanks again to you all .... now back to the moving process and sorting out some of my photo and PC accumulations (junk!?) from many years. Best regards, Steve.

I tried Hardware Acceleration On and Off ... No significant Difference. I also downloaded and installed version 4.49, again no significant difference. A Happy New Year to you all. Best regards, Steve.

Tom and Brian, Thanks again to all who are helping here. I'll try to answer some of your questions ..... T60, 2gb Ram, XP Pro PTE 5.1 Hardware Acceleration is turned on. I think that's the default as I've never changed it. It would be interesting to try my test project under PTE 4.x. I'll try that and turning off Hardware Acceleration as soon as I get a bit of spare time. Best regards, Steve.

Brian, Many thanks for your detailed reply. I stand reprimanded for my lack of proper termination. However, the problem occurs exactly the same when I have a cable connected from the Thinkpad video output to a Data Projector. The effect is seen exactly the same on the data projector. Under these circumstances I assume the video output is correctly terminated ? I do have an LCD monitor here at home I can try for testing. In 2 weeks I am moving from Hobart across the ditch called Bass Straight up to Sydney so I am a little time-stressed to say the least !! However I will try to find the time to test this. Best regards, Steve.

Hi Al, Yes it is. Best regards, Steve.

Hi Brian, Thanks for your msg. The Answers :- A. The image was shot RAW and converted to a JPEG, then resized to 1400x1050. B. My tests are with the external video port turned on but no cable and data projector connected. Both the laptop monitor and the external port are Active at the same and the resolution is 1024x768 on both. The problem appears the same whether I'm at the camera club using their data projector or when I am testing at home with nothing connected. The problem appears to be much worse when driving both the internal and external displays. The screen shot I posted was with both the internal display and the external port on but no cable or data display connected. Thanks again for all your help to try to resolve this. Best regards, Steve.

Brian, Thanks again for your help. I have looked at the site and found a few references to 'shimmer' type problems in the display on the T60. One inreference to a video game where the game software was blamed. Other references suggested > 1 Gb RAM; I have 2Gb. Another suggested the latest driver fixes these sorts of problems. I upgraded but can see no improvement. I can not find any reference to 'Direct TV' and my PC does not have a TV type output socket. I have looked at the ATI Control Center Software. There are many parameters that can be changed. I've experimented without seeing any real improvement ... also, I have to admit, without any real knowledge myself of what the parameters mean and their effect. FWIW, I made a screen grab shot of the effect. It is roughly 50% of the full screen. The effect is clearly at its worst when driving both the PC display and the external video port at 1024x768. Thanks. Steve.
