From www.visionsofart.de: Preis/price: 71,- Euro (AV-Dialog Mitglieder erhalten 20% Rabatt / for members of AV-Dialog (German AV organization) there is a discount of 20%). Don't ask me for more information. Go to the web site and send an e-mail (in English). Regards, Xaver

On German AV festivals, sometimes a particular software is used for scheduling and playing exe files from various sources (Wings, m.objects, PTE), but also a lot of video formats. It is called AV-Event, developed by Frank Kießling (www.visionsofart.de). Sorry, it isn't cheap Regards, Xaver

From the specification of your Western Digital media player, regarding restrictions on video encoding: MPEG2 MP@HL up to 1920x1080p24, 1920x1080i30 or 1280x720p60 resolution. MPEG4.2 ASP@L5 up to 1280x720p30 resolution and no support for global motion compensation. WMV9/VC-1 MP@HL up to 1280x720p60 or 1920x1080p24 resolution. VC-1 AP@L3 up to 1920x1080i30, 1920x1080p24 or 1280x720p60 resolution. H.264 BP@L3 up to 720x480p30 or 720x576p25 resolution. H.264 MP@L4.1 and HP@4.1 up to 1920x1080p24, 1920x1080i30, or 1280x720p60 resolution. So (for example), if you create an H.264 video that is 1920x1080p30, it will not play! Regards, Xaver

Do you think that you will be able to sleep without having solved you problems Regards, Xaver

I like this show. In most cases (not in all) the transition points have been placed in good positions, they go well together with the music (in most of the productions presented in this forum this typically is not the case). You should learn to use the speed options for animations. Your animations seem to be linear, they start and stop abruptly (this will be an easy change). When providing a show here, you may give us manual control or the navigation bar. I think that I was not happy with the last slide, but I cannot jump to it, and I do not like to watch the whole show just for having a second look at it. Regards, Xaver

The error message from you first screen shot normally shows up in cases where the target show (show that is called by the 'run slideshow' command) has been renamed or is no longer in the location where it should be. Regards, Xaver

I have no idea what has happened to your system. In both cases, your PicturesToExe.exe (1.99 MB, 27/07/2012 20:02) seems to be the correct one from v.7.0.7. If I were in your situation, I would uninstall first 7.5beta and then uninstall 7.0 Then I would re-install 7.0.7, and (if you like the beta version, as well). Good luck! In order to avoid the desktop flash, you should follow Peter's recommendations. Regards, Xaver

Change the explorer's setting to Details and look at size and date of PicturesToExe.exe . Regards, Xaver
-
Did you install v.7.0.7 into the same directory as v.7.0.4 (typically C:\Program Files\WnSoft PicturesToExe\7.0) ? Regards, Xaver

Maybe that you are right! What about all the silly discussions on the new version. We do not need all this stuff. Just distribute some nice images along some music, choose long transition times, and ready is an AV that is very well done. It's so simple, isn't it? Regards, Xaver

A good machine at its time (2003), perhaps a bit outdated today Regards, Xaver

Steph, you may provide us with some more information, e.g. about your computer, about the resolution of the images in your show. Regards, Xaver

In this forum we often see sequences in which the rhythm of the music and the positions of the transitions do not correspond. Here, this problem has been avoided by choosing very long transition times. This works well in the beginning, but towards the end the uniformity (whatever here may be the correct word) of blending is not what I would prefer. There I would have liked to see more interaction between music and transitions. Regards, Xaver

HDMI ignores "Fixed size of slide..." setting?
xahu34 replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
When running Windows 7, you will not need the keys mentioned by Cor. Win 7 provides the function "Connect to a projector", where you can choose which display devices shall be active. Regards, Xaver -
I do not know exactly about the terminology of your converter, but I would guess that MPEG4 means the first method from my post above, while H.264 means the second one. Also, I do not have much experience with video clips in PTE. But (as far as I know) the first choice is said to be the better one for the decoder inside PTE. Just make a try. Looking at your attachment, I do not know if a bitrate of 7000 isn't too small for a FullHD video. You should make some tests! Regards, Xaver

Just a remark: AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV are video container (file) formats. They are not that much responsible for the size of the video file. Inside such a container, there is the video that has been encoded using some codec. Examples: Encoder Xvid using the encoding method MPEG-4, Part 2 (Advanced Simple Profile). Encoder x264 (also used by PTE when creating MP4 videos) using the encoding method MPEG-4, Part 10 (Advanced Video Coding, also called AVC/H.264). The size of a video file mainly depends on the encoding method and on the chosen parameters. A modern encoding method like H.264 produces smaller files but the decoder has to do more work. So it seems that inside a PTE sequence larger video files based on a simpler encoding method do perform in a better way. Regards, Xaver

HDMI ignores "Fixed size of slide..." setting?
xahu34 replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
Peter, Two questions: 1. What happens when you play the sequence on the laptop without being connected to the projector? 2. When you connect the projector and use Windows to switch off the local monitor, what resolution for the projector is to be seen in the Windows display settings? Regards, Xaver -
Ian, I am using an Eizo monitor set to sRGB. On my system, your image (with profile sRGB) is always to be seen in the rather red version: with PTE, with Photoshop, with XnView (color management turned on or off). So the red looking presentation is the correct one in this case. Maybe that your image has been transformed from some other color space (perhaps AdobeRGB) to sRGB in an incorrect way (replacing the profile without changing the color values of the pixels). I wonder why Photoshop (which is a color managed application) on your machine shows it differently. A remark on PTE: PTE is not color manged; look here and follow the links. Regards, Xaver
-
Ian, Is your monitor calibrated with color profile different from sRGB? Regards, Xaver
-
Dave, the important message is: PTE does not support any color space or color management. It just acts in a transparent manner, it does not care for color management. This has to be done by the user himself. When using projectors, sRGB is good in almost all cases, when using e.g. calibrated monitors, typically it is not. Regards, Xaver
-
Some statements on color management in this thread are not correct, and this has also happened in the past. PTE does not support any color management. The correct color space for a PTE show depends on the presentation device. In case of projectors (in most cases) this is sRGB. For monitors running other color spaces, sRGB is not a good choice. See here and here. Regards, Xaver

Problems with certain MP4 video files in PTE

Please help me: How to call this? Regards, Xaver -

The function "Add Mask ..." in the Properties Tab of a Mask Container is to be used in order to insert a second, third, ... mask object into the same mask container. In the attached screen shot you see a mask container with two overlapping circular masks. Regards, Xaver
