Keyframes and Rotation - a possible bug/design flaw
xahu34 replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
Peter, Some time ago (as far as I remember) I asked for the feature to enter manually the time for a keypoint which is to be ceated. I use the following workaround: 1. Add an additional object (a frame) in the background without any animation. 2. Highlight this dummy object. 3. Move the blue cursor to a point near the place you like to have it for your rotation object. 4. Create the keypoint (for the dummy) and adjust it via the keyframe time field. 5. Highlight the rotation object, the cursor remains at the position where it should be. 6. Create the keypoint for your rotation object. Does this help? Best regards, Xaver Munich -
Keyframes and Rotation - a possible bug/design flaw

Peter, In order to prevent misunderstandings: can you publish a small project including slides which show the situations you want to consider. Best regards, Xaver Munich -
Brian, Just a comment on your points 2 and 3. PCs with the infinite reboot problem based on intelppm.sys typically were HP desktop PCs with AMD CPUs delivered with a disc image also to be used for Intel-based PCs (not a good way to do it). On an AMD based PC, intelppm.sys should not exist at all. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello John, Maybe that this podcast is of some help! Best regards, Xaver Munich

Following Peter's (fh1805) advice, I repeat my suggestion I have already made here: It would be helpful to have better features for copying slides: It should be possible to open several projects at the same time and to drag and drop slides from one project window to the other. Then the user could store his/her standard templates and easily copy parts of them into new presentations which presently can not be done in a comfortable way. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Peter, in the way Nettleton tried to insert the music, the "toast" would not have been helpful, as the music (added as sound comment to the first slide) would not have played. He now uses the standard way and seems to be happy! Best regards, Xaver Munich

You can actually do this if you choose (as I said above) "background music" (This means: Insert music via: Project options > music; furthermore: "Synchronize music and slides"), and at present time, this seems to be the only practical way to do it. Best regards Xaver Munich

Nettleton, Now you have run into the problem that I mentioned above. As you said: You want to combine a show from several projects. As a workaround I would use background music for all projects to be combined. Configure each of your projects such that the end of the last slide and the end of the music coincide. (If the music is a little bit too short, insert some silence or add a silent sound file of the appropriate length.) Now you can easily build up the big show from the pieces by copying slides and music files separately. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Peter, Your suggestion sound interesting. Wouldn't it be helpful to have better features for copying slides: It should be possible to open several projects at the same time and to drag and drop slides from one project window to the other. Then you could store your standard templates and easily copy parts of them into new presentations which presently can not be done in a comfortable way. Best regards, Xaver Munich -
Hi Peter, I agree, and I don't at the same time. In my eyes any other method than using background music seems to be useless. If you insert music via "Add sound" it nicely plays when using the mini player, but only if you start the show from the slide to which the sound has been added. Furthermore, the waveform does not show up. All in all, not a practical solution. Think of the situation where you add the sound to the first slide, and try to shift transition points around slide no. 30. What really would be helpful: audio objects which could be placed anywhere on the timeline. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hi kbg, For me it is difficult to come to a decision. - Did you try to uninstall PTE and then reinstall it again (Do you have control over your registration key)? - Did you try to update the drivers of your graphics card? Best regards, Xaver Munich
-
Hello Nettleton, If you do not use the background music, you do not have synchronization between music and images. In my opinion the mini player in combination with timeline and waveform is the tool for the synchronization business. Maybe that this is the reason why PTE does not play music via the mini player, if this music is added to a slide. Best regards, Xaver H. Munich

Dave, can you provide a little bit more information? Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello misterk, The code should look like this: This example reads as 78097. Best regards, Xaver H. Munich

Hello, I would like to have a confirm button in the customize slide window, and (as in the O/A-window) two buttons to go directly to the next and to the previous slide, without closing the customize slide window and re-opening it for the next/previous slide. Best regards, Xaver H. Munich

Peter, I hope that you will forgive me my joke on "desktop flash research". Regarding XP: I would not dare to claim that SP3 has provided the solution, maybe it is or not, who knows? Let's see what other users will report. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello misterk, On the support form you will see a small image containing 5 numbers (code). Please type these numbers into the input field below before you submit the request. It may be helpful first to write the description of your request in an external editor, and then newly open the support form and copy your text, in order to reduce the time between code generation and code submission. Hi Peter, now you have proved to be UK's top researcher in desktop flash research On my Win XP PC I sometimes use a PTE startup show (without HW acceleration) just to start a sequence of "normal" shows (PTE with HW acceleration and m.objects). In the past I had to care for the flashing taskbar, which could be avoided by deselecting "Keep taskbar on top". In the meantime the flashing taskbar has vanished totally. The significant change in my system is: I have installed SP3 for XP!? Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello echelonphoto and ifa, my experience is that PTE (exe or preview) stops, whenever "Esc" is pressed, independent of the project options. Best regards, Xaver Munich

Hello kbg, can you provide some more information: about your PC, operating system, why did your system crash, what happened afterwards, show us a corrupted image (screen shot). Best regards, Xaver H. Munich
-
Hello HAwk*, You should provide some more information on your PC (CPU, version of Windows, memory size, graphics card), and perhaps on the size of your images. Best regards, Xaver H. Munich

Igor, You may try this link, but for sure, Jean-Pierre can provide much more examples. This is the one from which I learned the method. Best regards, Xaver Munich

This question rather depends on your system resources that on PTE, Vista seems to need more memory etc. Best regards, Xaver H. Munich

Hi Peter, as a first step I would recommend to raise the quality of the actual language files, including the English one. Then it would be good to have a better official English user guide, and (if possible) good translations into French, German, Italian, and Spanish (a lot of work to do). I myself found PTE quite self-explanatory, and due to some material provided mainly by Lin Evens I had a rather easy start. Best regards, Xaver Munich
