Green with envy, we - the old fashioned Europeans - look up to the modern America and its wonderful monitors (made somewhere in the Far East) Best regards Xaver Munich Germany Europe, near to France

Hello, there are other products which save the last (say) 10 back-up files in a system folder, and make them accessible via the file menu. I think that this would also be a good solution. On the other hand: The auto-save function as in Beta 9 has the advantage of being simple; I myself could easily live with it. Best regards Xaver Munich

Hello Jos, What's the brand of your graphics card? Best regards Xaver Munich

Barry, Sorry for using this mathematical expression (you may look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-to-one_correspondence if you like). Here it means that in the new version of PTE a slide can only exist if it has a transition point on the new timeline. If you kill the point, you kill the corresponding slide. Hello Colin, I fear that you had opened the project file that is now lost and that you then changed and saved it. In this case the save commend does not ask for name and location, whereas in case of new projects it does so (PTE version 5.1). So the behavior of PTE seems to me quite standard. Kind regards Xaver Munich

Hello Colin, Sorry for your disaster. My experience is that PTE stores created exe-files to the folder where it did this action the time before; the same holds for saving project files (locations for .exe and .pte must not coincide). I myself do not trust commands like “save” and “create” (in all Windows applications), I always us “save as” and “create as” in combination with new names referring to shows and versions (“Show4711” will be stored in a way looking like “Show4711-v1.pte”, “Show4711-v2.pte”, etc.) Best regards Xaver Munich

PTE project file has been deleted after PTE error

Hello, let me again refer to a previous suggestion, see here. Best regards Xaver Munich -
Hello Peter, what does inheritance mean? It means (geometrically) that the child “lives” in a coordinate system relative to the position and size of its direct parent object, and its own animation parameters refer to this (inherited) coordinate system. You cannot separate translations (pans), rotations, and scaling of coordinates (zooms). An object inherits either all or nothing. Opacity is not a geometrical parameter; in my opinion, it should remain as it is! Best regards Xaver Munich

Barry, It has been pointed out here that now there is a one-to-one correspondence between the members of the slide list and the corresponding points on the timeline. Best regards Xaver Munich

Geoff, Just a question: How does the knowledge on COFEE (Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor) help you to get better results from PTE? Best regards Xaver Munich

Hello Ken, I agree to put this stuff somewhere else, but the Tutorial-Section does not seem to be a good place. Here, Brian's argument is right. Best regards Xaver Munich

Hello Lin, I am not very pleased about this news, and I actually do not like the activities of the German government to develop a “Bundestrojaner – governmental Trojan horse” for on-line surveillance. There are many other topics on security and privacy which are worthwhile to be discussed – the question may be, if this forum is the right place to do it. Let me again propose an off-topic section within the WnSoft forums. Best regards Xaver Munich

Virus? Latest Beta 5.7 - reported by Trend Micro
xahu34 replied to ADB's topic in General Discussion
Hello Andrew, I repeated the test, now with engine 8700, and again no virus was detected. I use a business versions of the Trend Micro product, so we cannot really compare the results. Best regards Xaver Munich -

Hello, which pattern did you use? I just tried Trend Micro OfficeScan, pattern 5.247.00, engine 8600, and no virus was detected. Best regards Xaver Munich -
Ken, Brian Thank you - vielen Dank! There are sometimes problems for non-native speakers: Some contributions are quite long, and therefore (even if written in a cultivated language) a bit exhausting. Other posts are short but incomprehensible. Never mind, nor do I! Xaver Munich

Hello Lin, I agree that users should take care in making their decision on SP3 (provided that they are in the position to do it at all). What I do not like is the way, the subject is discussed here. The discussion is restricted on particular aspects, and it runs on an emotional level, which is in my eyes by no means appropriate. Best regards Xaver Munich

Hello, I don't think that the PTE forum is then right place to discuss the question of using SP3 for XP or not. What I see here is in my eyes a trace of propaganda rather than knowledge based on experience. We should wait and see how the roll out of SP3 will look like, see how SP3 will be analyzed in the press, and have a look at the policies of big companies. Then we can make our decisions. Let's drink a cup of tea and avoid hysteria. Best regards Xaver Munich

David, it is very likely that in a year or two security patches will only be available for Win XP with SP3. Example: Looking at "Bulletin MS08-020" (Vulnerability in DNS Client Could Allow Spoofing (945553)), published April 8th, you see that a patch is only available for XP with SP2, not for XP with SP1. How to turn "OFF" automatic updates in Win XP
xahu34 replied to Lin Evans's topic in General Discussion
Hello, on my own machine, automatic update is turned off, as well. But we have to keep in mind that this is a bit dangerous. Turning it off must either have the consequence not using the Internet, or to download and install the security patches published by MS on the second Tuesday every month. Best regards Xaver Munich -
Hello Yachtsman1, please answer the question of Colin (see here) from above: Do we really have to talk about Moiré or just about shimmering of zoomed images. Best regards Xaver Munich

Geoff, I think that Peter uses Vista. For XP the situation is clear, see here! Best regards Xaver Munich
