Michel 1) There still is a problem with the attachment, I can't get in either because a message pops up which says "bye bye" and asks for a user name and password to enter your site www.lediaporama.fr When I enter my user name and password (I am member of your site: CorVdK) it jumps again on my user name. Sometimes the user name changed in the user name I got from my internet provider. 2) I can not log in anymore with my user name and password on your site www.lediaporama.fr. What is happening? Cor

I just want to make a call to every member of this forum and every user of PTE to be open minded please. There are so many clever people here (and also on the French forum) who do the impossible to try to put everybody on the same level. New ideas are coming very fast for the moment and it is not always possible to absorb everything. Maybe some tests, or propositions, or lay-outs, or whatever, are not useful for all of us, but they are available if someone need them. The possibilities of PTE are so enormous that one can take advantage of it for his proper use. Cor

Not only for the fantastic view of Paris (a few years ago I worked for a French company and we had regularly meetings in Rueil Malmaison and also in the south of France, in Albi near Toulouse), but also for your explanations and practical use of the PTE-program. It is not alone realy interesting to know how far you can go with your proper computer, but I think it is a must that one knows what the limits are of the machines we are working with. With PTE the sky is the limit, or better, there is no limitation on creativity. Everybody is free to fill it in on his own way, and than it is good to know how technical things work best in a production. Hello to all, I think we have to be careful, because those "machine translators" are still not working very well. Most of the time they translate word after word and use words out of context, so the meaning of the message in the translated language is completely gone. Making a translation is more than putting word after word. To make a translation of a program or a tutorial, you have to understand completely how the program is working and/or what the author of the tutorial is exactly explaining. Thus to make a good translation you need lots of "background" that those "machine translators" don't have. I do not say that translators as "Babel Fish" are useless, but do not expect to much of it. Hello to all, Yes it is an indicator. But a very important one. If this button is shown pressed for a particular image (slide), this selected image will use its own customized settings, if not, then common settings will be used (defined in <Project Options>). So, all images in your project will be shown with the settings you make in <Project Options>. Example: Display time for each slide = 5 sec (in "Main" tab); Fade in/Out effect duration 1500 ms, thickness of smooting line = 60 (in "Effect" tab); customize comment you put in "Set comments for all slides as:" (in "Comments" tab); etc. But if you want one particular image (slide) must not be shown with the common settings of <Project Options>, then select the necessary slide in the "Image List" and go to the "Customize Slide..." button, click on it, and you come in the "Use customized settings for this slide" menu. This menu window is intended to assign some individual settings for a slide. You can make adapted settings in the "Main", "Comments", "Effect" and "Music" tabs. At first site, all settings look similar as in <Project Options>. But when you make necessary changes and click the <OK> button to apply the new settings, then you will see the small <P> button on the main screen is pressed: It means that this slide will use its own customized settings you just specified. Example: If you want a particular slide on the screen for 7 sec. instead of 5 sec (common settings in <Project Options>) it is here in the "Main" tab that you do the settings, "Timing", check "Use own time preference" and put "7" in the "Display slide for (sec.)" box, click the <OK> button. If you want to change the effect and/or fade time for this particular slide it is also here you do it in the "Effect" tab. Now, for what reason, you want this slide to use global settings again (specified in the <Project Options>), just click the <P> button to "unpress" it and you will notice when you go back via the "Customize Slide..." button, in the "Main" tab, "Timing", that the "Use own time preference" is unchecked and the "Display slide for (sec.)" box will show global settings again (the 5 sec. you used in <Project Options>). To undo the settings you can also open again the "Customize Slide..." window and uncheck "Use customized settings for this slide" option. I hope this will help, Greetings, Cor

Hello Bubba, There will be a problem, because the completed slideshows are .exe files remember. Besides that, it is not very creatif to copy someone's work. I don't see how you can copy your own photos in a program of someone else (using the program it's possible I know if you have the .pte file), or how you can for example copy photo's of a show about India in a show of South Africa. Hello Dominique (thedom), When you brought up the idea of making and using templates for special effects, I also thought it was a good idea (and basic it still is). But in the weekend I started with a new slide show and worked a little bit with effects and sequences of the show. I realised and noticed that it is almost impossible to use "standardized" effects, because you make an effect for that specific sequence. Once you bring together 2, then 3, sometimes 7 slides in the "well known parent-child" order to achieve the effect. I think, when you have a folder where you can keep only the very special and rather complicated templates (to use on some occasion) that will do. It will be impossible to make a template for every effect anyway, but in my opinion individual files are more convenient. Greetings, Cor

thedome, Thank you very much for all your work, it's a very nice looking layout. I played a little bit with it and I think it will be very useful in some projects as well. You asked for suggestions, I'll try to explain: When I first looked and tried the templates, I had to look what will it do and what shall I have to do to change the pictures. In the beginning it was a little bit confusing and also a bit overwhelming. It was only after some time playing with it that I have seen the possibilities. So I think the purpose and usefulness of the templates will stand if it is easy to use and if it is easy to choose a certain template for a certain project. I have been reading your explanations about the templates on the forum in advance, but may be you could add some explanatory text that's shown on the screen or separately in a .txt or .doc file for each template, because it is not handy to switch from the page of the forum to the PTE-program and reverse. You have already 3 different template projects included, so give a tittle to each template project, example suggestion: FilmStrip 001 - Fading A to B FilmStrip 002 - Turning landscape to portrait FilmStrip 003 - ..... with some hints and/or tips and explain shortly what the purpose is of the template project. Just tried to help for what it is worth, but this about my feelings of using your excellent work and ideas. I have seen and tried your other projects that you have posted here as well and learned a lot of it. Thank's again. Cor

Good evening Ron, I have been reading your new tutorial about "Panning" and again it's clear and to the point. Very well done. A very good supplement of information for starters and new users of PicturesToExe. So far there are some downloads of the translation in Dutch of your tutorial "Scrolling Text" and one reaction off topic. I think a translation in Dutch is usefull for some people. But it's an extensive and intensive job to do in my spare time. So, if there were some reactions, hints, help, some "life", or whatever of the Dutch users that would be nice. This topic is about the adapted Dutch language file of PicturesToExe v5.00 beta #5. You can find it here. Nederlands.ini.txt You can copy the "nederlands.ini.txt" file to your "PicturesToExe 5" folder. Change the file name in "nederlands.ini" and Windows will ask you to replace the existing file. As you probably know you can keep the existing file if you rename it beforehand, e.g. "nederlands (old).ini" You can use the adapted "nederlands.ini" file for PicturesToExe v5.00 beta #5 also for PTE v4.48 although the text on the "Objects" button will be changed in "Objecten/Animatie" and will not fit the button. Everything of v4.48 is working naturally. The translation was made for the benefit of all the Dutch users of PTE. So far, every manipulation in the program is compared very securely to the Dutch text, menus and instructions. The grammar is checked, wrong typos corrected and the same words are consequently used to prevent confusion. A correct Dutch language for Belgium and The Netherlands is used. Indeed I hope Igor will further use it for future releases and remove the current one. Thank you for trying the translation. I hope more Dutch speaking members can participate in the discussion and come up with some useful ideas. If you have any comment you are welcome to post it in this topic. I made two files, a Word document (.doc) and a text file (.txt). The files contain only the translated text, but the lay-out of the text is kept. So you have to print out the excellent tutorial of Ron and keep the translated text aside. Scrolling_Text_Tutorial__Revision_Number_3_.doc Scrolling_Text_Tutorial__Revision_Number_3_.txt I hope it will be of some use for somebody and it will help to understand the new features of the brilliant softwareprogram that PicturesToExe is. To Ron Many thanks for sending me the "Scrolling Text" tutorial. It is very well done. It is a good idea to take only one topic at a time and explain things in detail. As I played already a little bit on my own with the program, I followed now your instructions in the tutorial and found it very clear and easy to understand. I think that somebody who is new to the program will have a good help in practical use and will not be overwhelmed with to much technical details and will be open for more. I started with the translation in Dutch of the adapted .ini-file. Your tutorial helped me also to better understand the new features so I can make the correct translation of the keywords. Cor

Dear Igor, Working on the new translation of the Dutch "nederlands.ini" file, Purist, Marianne and myself noticed some slips. Maybe it is possible to correct these: In the menu "File", when you choose: Create Slideshow Create Slideshow As... Create Slideshow and Run... Create Screen Saver... The title of the opened window is always: "Create EXE file from current project with a new name". It is not possible to correct the title, the program always read the same hint text. Some English words always show up also when you change to an other language: Project Options - Advanced - Mouse buttons (selection): None, Exit, Next slide, Prev.slide, Help, Go to first, Pause. Project Options - Advanced - Customize Navigation Bar... - Available buttons: Help, Exit. Project Options - Advanced - Customize Navigation Bar... - Selected buttons: First slide, Next slide, Previous slide, Pause, Print. Project Options - Advanced - Customize Navigation Bar... - Position (selection): Left, Top, Right, Bottom, Center, Left-Top, Right-Top, Right-Bottom, Left-Bottom. Project Options - Comments - Position (selection): Left, Top, Right, Bottom, Center, Left-Top, Right-Top, Right-Bottom, Left-Bottom. Although these English words are translated in the ini file (see [Reserved]) they are not used by the program. English text not in the ini.file and can not be translated: Project Options - Music - About Music Player... - Information - Since PicturesToExe v4.10 we have added new music player... The word "Cancel" stays on the button in every language: In the menu "File" - Templates - Create Template from this show... When you click with the mouse in the "Image List" there is a menu named "Explorer". The word "Explorer" can not be translated eather. In the menu "View" - Language: "Netherlands", must be changed to "Nederlands". The button "Video" - Making of AVI video file: "For Adobe Encore DVD" this line is not in the ini file. Greetings, Cor
