Hi Snapcam First of all, thanks for your generous comments. Yes, a tripod was used; in fact, you can see the shadow on one of the photographs. No colour saturation was used as the air is very clear and cold, as you suggest. Maureen

Following on from our trip to Lofoten, Norway in September, we flew out to Longyearbyen, Spitzbergen, which is the administrative centre of Svalbard in the High Arctic. Most of the coal mining industry in Longyearbyen is long gone but relics of the industry still remain. From there we embarked ship for a circumnavigation of the Svalbard archipelago with several landings by Polar Circel boats. Being late summer/early autumn, we saw a land free of the ice which covers it for most of the year and exposing the fragile tundra. The landscape is mountainous and treeless and the wood you will see on this show will have been washed ashore from Siberia.
