  5. Bill, as you know I can only endorse Andrew's comments. I have always thought that Beechbrook is an excellent showcase for PTE. Maureen
  6. The Park in the title being the Lake District National Park. No story - just a selection of pictures taken over the last couple of winters whilst out walking. Hosted, as always, by Bill on www.beechbrook.com Thank you once again, Bill. Maureen
  7. Daniel - thank you for your comments. Jan - we did visit Helsinki but it was in very heavy rain so I took very few pictures. Bill - they have been sitting on my PC for almost three years - unprocessed. Will have to get around to sorting out the other ports of call sometime. Thanks for your comments. Maureen
  8. Tallinn (Estonia) lies on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland and is a port of call for ships cruising the Baltic. The old city dates back to medieval times. On www.beechbrook.com/pte with grateful thanks to Bill - again! Maureen
  9. Thanks, Dave. Maureen
  10. Thank you. Maureen
  11. Paul - thanks for your comments. My son was out in Reykjavik for a week and the weather was very poor most of the time - he just had to sit it out and wait for the clear bits. Fortunately, there were a few. Maureen
  12. Hi Snapcam First of all, thanks for your generous comments. Yes, a tripod was used; in fact, you can see the shadow on one of the photographs. No colour saturation was used as the air is very clear and cold, as you suggest. Maureen
  13. Thanks, Robert. Maureen
  14. Thanks, Daniel. Maureen
  15. Thanks to Mary and Morturn for your comments. Maureen
  16. Thanks to Colin and Rick. Rick - We like to think we learn from each other, but it seems more often to be ME asking him the questions these days. Maureen
  17. A few photographs taken in and around Reykjavik during a short visit by my son in March 2011. Grateful thanks, as usual, to Bill. On www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen
  18. Thanks to Paulo and Jan for your comments. Maureen

  21. Following on from our trip to Lofoten, Norway in September, we flew out to Longyearbyen, Spitzbergen, which is the administrative centre of Svalbard in the High Arctic. Most of the coal mining industry in Longyearbyen is long gone but relics of the industry still remain. From there we embarked ship for a circumnavigation of the Svalbard archipelago with several landings by Polar Circel boats. Being late summer/early autumn, we saw a land free of the ice which covers it for most of the year and exposing the fragile tundra. The landscape is mountainous and treeless and the wood you will see on this show will have been washed ashore from Siberia. Grateful thanks, as always, to Bill, for hosting on www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen
  22. Hi Andrew - thank you for your comments. We called into Alan's gallery when we were on Skye and he produces some very fine work indeed. I seem to recall he and I had a few words at the time. Referring to our 'private' correspondence, the weather doesn't look good for tomorrow but we shall hope for the best. Maureen
  23. Hi Andrew - I've only just seen your reply of 2/11 to mine of 1/11. I thought we were supposed to be notified if anything came through like this. Anyway, of course you can add me if you still want to, although no doubt it is all done and dusted by now. It's probably best if you email me direct then I won't miss anything. Really sorry about this. Maureen

  24. Ken - I omitted your name from my previous 'thank yous' for which I apologise and thank you now. Thanks also for comments to Roger, Bert and Colin. Maureen
  25. To Rick, Lin, Dick, Mick, Paul and Gilio - my grateful thanks for your kind comments. Maureen
