  1. Lin - thank you for that. Maureen
  2. A very wild week (in the wet and windy sense) on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, late October brought very challenging conditions, keeping upright being one of them. However, managed to grab a few shots of the very transient light we experienced. Taken MAINLY on Skye but I have included just a few taken in Wester Ross on the Scottish mainland, where we also spent a day. http://www.beechbrook.com/pte/downloadfile.asp?id=2002 Thanks as always to Bill at Beechbrook for hosting. www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen
  3. Should have said 'NOW I realise why'. Sorry. Maureen

  4. Howard - I have seen your name crop up many times for winning awards in A/V. How I realise why. I have downloaded more of your sequences from the Staffs A/V site. Marvellous work. Maureen Platts

  5. Hi Andrew - I would love to say 'yea' but I regret I don't have a website.

  6. John, Bert and Gary - grateful thanks for your comments. Pleased you enjoyed it. Gary - I, too, had never heard of Lofoten until I turned on the TV one night a number of years ago and there it was, Lofoten, cloacked in snow and looking stunning. Maybe the same programme. Maureen
  7. Bill and Mick Thank you both for your very generous comments. So pleased you enjoyed viewing. Maureen
  8. Ken, Roger W, Mary, Colin, Daniel and Paul - thank you all so much for your comments. Of all the places I have visited, Lofoten is Heaven on Earth to me. Maureen
  9. The Lofoten Islands, an archipelago lying off the north-west coast of Norway, within the Arctic Circle, beloved of both photographers and artists for the quality of its light. The landscape is very dramatic with steep, rocky mountains rising straight from the ocean floor and with beautiful sandy beaches. A major feature of the villages is the wooden, usually red rorbuer, often on stilts, built originally to house the many fisherman who flocked to these islands during the cod fishing season, but now primarily used for holiday accommodation. Tourism and fishing are its lifeblood with the main fishing season between January and April when the cod make their way down from the Barents Sea to spawn. Everywhere on the islands there are racks, some flat, others of a triangular shape, which for the first few months of the year are covered in codfish hanging to dry in the salty sea air to make stockfisch. The majority of this fish is then exported, mainly to Italy. With grateful thanks to Bill, as usual, for hosting on www.beechbrook.com/pte
  10. Hi Andrew - been out of the country for a few weeks and since then not too well, so just catching up. I liked the way you presented your images in your first Barcelona show - nice work. Probably a bit too much football in the second show for me (not a footie fan) but some excellent pics in both shows. Well worth watching.

    Best wishes - Maureen

  19. Dentdale, in Cumbria, forms the north-west corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in northern England. The valley takes its name from the tiny village of Dent and is set amongst some superb high walking country. Kindly hosted by Bill on www.beechbrook.com/pte Thanks, Bill. Maureen
