  1. Thanks, Paul. I spent a long time trying and listening to different pieces of music - this one just seemed to click with me. Maureen
  2. Thanks, everyone, for comments. I have passed them onto my son and he is delighted and encouraged. What may be of interest to some is that all of the photographs were taken - not in RAW - but in high quality Jpegs. Most, of course, taken tripod mounted. Maureen
  3. A Brief Snapshot of Yorkshire. Yorkshire is a large county in the North of England famous, amongst other things, for its high moorland, beautiful Dales villages and its coast. 'A Brief Snapshot' because this presentation concerns itself with North Yorkshire only. These are not my photographs but were taken by one of my sons, a keen amateur photographer, who was pleased for me to make them into a slideshow. My thanks again to Bill at www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen
  4. Thanks, Dom, for your comments. Maureen
  5. Thanks, Bill. Unfortunately, the next big trip isn't for several months but hope to produce something before then. Maureen
  6. Mark. there were a few folk on the deck trying to use a tripod. I just tried to wedge myself against some of the infrastructure and hoped for the best. We went mainly for the snow and there again, we were told by the Norwegians to go in February. We got it both times. Next time we go, if we are lucky enough, it'll have to be the autumn. Maureen
  7. Mark - that was a very nice presentation, certainly my type of show. Recognised some of the pics, too. I particularly liked the subtlety of your very slow zooms and the way you have put it all together using different formats. You say 'first draft'. Can we look forward to more? Maureen
  8. HI Mick - interesting comments for which I'm grateful. Apart from one shot in my Scottish a/v (late last year) I had never done pan and zoom before so it has been a bit of a learning curve for me. Yes, I have moved on slightly from my normal style as I had become too settled in my comfort zone, as you know. Hopefully, as I try to progress, I will become more selective as to which images I decide to move in any future show, but for the moment, I am reasonably happy. Maureen
  9. My grateful thanks to ALL of you who have commented though I have to say that a week ago I nearly threw it out. Anyway, that's another story. Davy - now why did I know you would approve of the music?! Wish I had your creative mind (although you already know that). I wouldn't have to travel so far. Mark - We did the same trip at exactly the same time (February) just three years ago and enjoyed it so much we had to repeat it. I have included some pics from then as we too had some pretty bad weather on this last trip. In fact, after the first couple of days, the decks were covered in snow and ice right until we got back into Bergen. But what the heck - that's what it's about. The aurora pics were taken in 2008, too, as we had a very poor showing this time. I have kept your a/v and was looking at it recently, and your comment about the beautiful skies is absolutely bang on. Bert - will reply to your question (email) separately. Thanks again, everyone. Maureen
  10. On www.beechbrook.com/pte - once again thanks to Bill for hosting. The Hurtigruten (Coastal Express) sails daily from Bergen in Norway to Kirkenes close to the Russian Border, making over 30 stops on the way, carrying passengers and freight. We did the north-south journey at the beginning of February this year and this was once famously described as the 'world's most beautiful voyage'. Few will argue with that. Despite the very poor quality of the Northern Lights images (taken hand-held for 30 secs from the top deck of a moving and pitching ship in sub-zero temperatures) I have decided to include them as, for a great many people, the chance of seeing this natural phenomena is the main reason they undertake this trip in the winter months. A special 'thank you' must go to Jose (Orizaba) for his kindness and patience, and for pushing me that little bit further into PTE. Maureen
  11. Jose - I must confess that I removed my posting myself. And now I must go and lie down in a darkened room..... Maureen
  12. Hi Daniel - Once again you have created an excellent spectacle for us to view. Beautiful costumes and a very colourful occasion. I am sure that the schoolchildren of Peniscola will be delighted with this. You do this sort of thing so well.

    Maureen

  13. Not easy. When we create a show we usually have in mind a mood we wish to develop and just what kind of music we see as ideal. Finding it is a different matter. Maureen
  14. Wow, Greg, that is really beautiful. I reckon Patti will be thrilled with this and what a trip! Coincidentally, my husband has recently finished an a/v on our holiday there 5 years ago and with recalling that trip and seeing these, it really makes us want to return. However, not this year - that's already sorted. Best wishes Maureen
  15. Hi Greg - I remember seeing this way back when I first discovered your site. You've done a great job there and brings back some happy memories. Maureen
  16. Barry - what always strikes me about your images is they always look so SMOOTH! Wonderful skies; not so sure about the music. Maureen
  17. Thanks to both Mary and Malcolm and glad you enjoyed. Maureen
  18. Thanks to Rick, Mick and Greg for kind comments. It's nice to know you enjoyed. Mick - the problem is time to keep up to date with websites. I did use one years ago before I changed to digital but it became a chore and I gradually let it go in favour of being 'out and about'. However, I have a friend who uses Picasa. I may just take a look and I'll let you know if/when I do. Best wishes for a Happy New Year. Maureen
  19. Lin - thanks for your comments on my a/v 'Mellow Days'. May I wish you a Very Happy New Year.

    Maureen

  20. First of all, a Very Happy New Year to everyone. Let's hope it does turn out to be a good one. Secondly, thanks to everyone who has commented. It is appreciated. Boogie - The music is on a cd called 'Ascent' recorded by a then 13 years old ~Tyler Rix on soprano sax. I agree with the comment made by both yourself and Daniel Laugier that the pics are perhaps on a little too short a time whilst maybe the fades are too long. I have had another go, decreasing the transition times and I think it is better. Barry - take your point about the Lakes - I just love the place and this sequence has been sitting on my PC for a while as I wasn't quite sure where I was going with it and to be honest, didn't have much motivation (sometimes it disappears!) However, I do have lots of pics taken on trips this year so maybe it's time I dug them out and had a go at something different. We can get a bit too cosy in our comfort zone, or at least, I can. (I think they have all despaired of me with regard to the Sshhh...) Ken - off to Norway in a few weeks - once again doing the Coastal Voyage in the winter months! Hope to get lucky with the Northern Lights again although difficult to do satisfactorily from the top deck of a moving ship Again, thanks all you guys who have downloaded, watched and commented. It is appreciated. Maureen
  21. Just a very simple show of a few images taken during the last three months of the year. On www.beechbrook.com with grateful thanks to Bill as always. Maureen
  22. Hi Colin - An excellent a/v. Very well done and so interesting.

    Maureen

  23. Hi Malcolm - I, too, look forward to seeing your full a/v as the photography was superb. I can only echo everybody else's comments in that it was an outstanding show.

    Maureen

  24. Superb pictures as always, Barry, and I can think of no-one more qualified to produce tutorial disks. Maureen
  25. Bill - did you receive my emailed comments? Having a few problems with email at the moment and not sure if some are arriving. Maureen
