  1. Thanks to Anthony and EVERYBODY else who has taken the trouble to comment. I will bear your comments about timing in mind when putting together my next one. Maureen
  2. Thank you so much for that, it's very encouraging. You've made my day. Maureen
  3. I've gone for the 'bigger picture' this time, so hope it's okay. All photos taken from early December 09 to early Jan 2010. On www.beechbrook.com/pte/ with grateful thanks to Bill. Maureen
  4. Andrew - please don't be disheartened. YOU know you have done a good job and WE know you have. If your club members have poor taste, then it's their problem. Don't let it be yours. Just carry on pleasing yourself and enjoy what you do and at the same time please let members of this Forum also appreciate your work. Maureen
  5. Hi Dave - a nice, relaxing a/v which must make you long for the Spring and Summer months when you can get out your camping gear and head off. I thought the music complemented it, too. We here in the UK have been having some pretty rough weather (for us) recently and whilst it causes a great deal of inconvenience and hardship, it does look extremely beautiful. Maureen
  6. My goodness, Davy. You might not be able to get to 'exotic places' but it doesn't stop you putting together some entertaining and atmospheric a/vs. What a creative mind you must have. Keep them coming. Maureen
  7. Well, it certainly was a good one, Mary. Happy New Year to you, too. Maureen
  8. Thanks to both Mark and Paul. Maureen
  9. Yes, Andrew, it surely is. When the weather plays ball, there is nowhere like it. Maureen
  10. Thanks, Mark, for that. DavyC emailed me with valuable constructive criticism, primarily about the music quality. He kindly cleaned up the track for me, recommended a few other minor tweaks and I put it together again and I have to say it is better and ends more smoothly. I have, however, left the original on Beechbrook. BTW, a friend did the Norwegian Coastal Voyage in mid September and the autumn colours and light he captured were beautiful. So far, winter has been our favourite time. Maureen
  11. Anthony I am so pleased you enjoyed my a/v; it is always very encouraging to receive such comments. Let us hope your health problems are resolved sooner rather than later so that you can get back to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Scotland. Good luck for the New Year. Maureen
  12. Mark - really enjoyed this version as very familiar with the voyage. Have put aside to keep. Thanks. Maureen
  13. Thanks to Dave, Lin, Mary and Jeff for taking the time to comment. Also, thanks to Jeff regarding the 'mouse' tip. I have made a note to (hopefully) ensure this doesn't get in the way in any future a/vs. Maureen
  14. Hi Noel Good for you on getting into a/v. It really is a very enjoyable and absorbing pastime. For further help I would recommend that you visit http://www.beckhamdigital.co.uk/audiovisual/audiovisual.htm Barry has excellent advice on his website and also some superb FREE a/vs to download and aspire to. He also sells some excellent tutorials and no, I am not on commission. Maureen
  15. Thanks to both Colin and John. John - I watched Braveheart purely because of the music and the magnificent Scottish scenery but I understand your feelings. Glad you enjoyed the show. Maureen
  16. Images taken from fairly short visits to the North-Western Highlands of Scotland late October 2008 and the same time October 2009. Despite a dire weather forecast we took the ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway for a couple of nights, followed by an even briefer visit to Skye before being rained off. I'm afraid not an original choice of music but I did try several Scottish pieces; however, always came back to this one. Available on http://www.Beechbrook.Com/PTE Maureen
  17. Davy - you're a star! Just 'carry on regardless' and give us more. Maureen
  18. Jim We went onto Lewis and Harris after leaving Dundonnell. Apart from one day at the start of the trip we had bad weather - rain, rain and more rain so we didn't see any of the locations anywhere close to their best. However, we do intend to return to Harris sometime, hopefully next Spring following on from Skye. Maureen
  19. Hi Jim - you've beaten me to it. I was up there last week in October, obviously in the same area so it was particularly interesting and enjoyable to watch your a/v and recognise so many of the places you photographed. Can I ask, please, on which island(s) you took your Hebridean images? Maureen
  20. Jean-Charles I downloaded both these slideshows some months ago as having visited Iceland a couple of years back they were of particular interest. I kept them both as they really are superb and really do give a'feel' of what Iceland is about. Excellent work.
  21. Thanks to Barry, Dave G and Dave Peterson We have Barry to thank for putting me wise to ticking the appropriate box. I have not yet graduated to a large monitor; that'll have to wait a while but glad you all enjoyed the show. Maureen
  22. Thanks John. I wasn't too sure about the music, to be honest. I've tried all sorts but didn't want to use something others had used. Anyway, pleased you like it. Maureen
  23. Late June saw us in Ireland for a couple of weeks. The latest slideshow is on www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen
  24. Ron I emailed Barry privately as I wasn't quite sure what he meant as I thought I had already answered his question. His reply is copied below as it is something other members of the Forum may find useful to know. It is certainly something I had not considered. [ "Your doing it OK from what I can see. You don't need more than 72ppi and to size images at 1024 and allow the height to take care of itself at 680px retains the format from your camera. The reason I asked is that there seems to be a little known fact that those on the PTE forum are missing. Unless you tell PTE not to do it, it will try and make your slide show fit any other resolution monitor it is played on. Now that is OK if that resolution is the same as yours, but what if it isn't. I have a large monitor running 1920*1200 and when I watched your show I had a suspicion that it was being stretched to fit my screen and that puts a large dent in the quality of your images. They were made for a 1024 pixel screen and were made to fit a 1900. You can easily stop that happening, by going into PTE project options and clicking the Screen tab. There is a small box there labeled Fixed Size of slide (in pixels) If you tick that box, your slide show will be seen by others at the size you created it and then the image quality is retained. You would never know this unless you saw your show played on a large monitor."] Hope this answers your query, Ron. Maureen
  25. Barry I emailed you a couple of days ago as I was not quite sure what you meant. You replied by email giving me a 'tip' you thought some Forum members were unaware of when creating their a/vs. I will relay this info to Ronnie and anyone else who may be interested. Maureen
