Hi Roger Thank you for your kind comments and I am pleased you enjoyed the show. It is also unusual for anyone in the Platts family to go somewhere warm!! As for the mouse cursor, I have now sorted but thanks for letting me know. Maureen

A sequence of images taken during a walking holiday by my two sons early February this year on the island of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands, primarily to walk the 'Route of the Volcanoes. The final few slides were taken in the capital of Santa Cruz at the end of the trip. Both PC and MAC versions available. On www.beechbrook.com/pte hosted again by Bill Hines, (and with grateful thanks for your patience, Bill). Maureen

My thanks to all of you for your generous comments. I do have to say, though, that I made several trips to Skye before I ever got really lucky with the weather there, which is capricious to say the least. We were staying on the mainland this time and fortunately just picked the right day. Maureen

Photographed in the Western Highlands of Scotland and The Cuillin, Isle of Skye, in the last week of October 2012. We were very fortunate in that we were blessed with the only window of decent weather in Britain that week. With grateful thanks to Bill Hines as usual, available at www.beechbrook.com/pte A MAC version is also available. Maureen

NORTH-EAST GREENLAND NATIONAL PARK
Lakelandlass replied to Lakelandlass's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
First of all, thanks to you ALL for your generous comments. Ken. I wasn't sure whether to include the Aurora shots as holding the shutter open handheld on a moving ship is not the best way to photographs the Northern Lights, but decided it would finish the show off. Bye the way, if anyone plans to photograph the Aurora at any time, do remember to remove any UV/skylight filter from the front of your lens, unlike myself who ended up with concentric rings on each image the first night we saw them. I just got carried away and forgot. Mick - I thought you would enjoy Thomas Tallis. It's a beautiful piece. Ant - your description of the landscape over there is bang on. It really is stunning. The geologists amongst us were in seventh heaven. Bert - I'm pleased you enjoyed the show. Maureen -
Following on from INTO THE HIGH ARCTIC, we go on to explore the fjords and glaciers of the National Park, a geologist’s paradise, before arriving at Scoresbysund or Ittoqqortoormit (in Greenlandic). The trappers living here are the only ones allowed to hunt within the North East Greenland National Park. With grateful thanks to Bill Hines, as usual, on www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen

Mick - I think if you check on the last few shows I have done, you will see I have allowed manual control as requested so many times. Yes, some of the images are on a shorter time than others but this was done quite deliberately in order to try and bring slides in at an appropriate time with the music, not always easy depending on the piece of music used. Thanks for your comments, Mick, I look forward to your PM. Maureen
-
Thanks to all for your comments and so pleased you enjoyed the show. Mary - it took me quite a while to find the music, I usually like to have something in mind before I start. Now to get on with the next part. Next year's trip for you sounds great. . Maureen

SVALBARD TO NORTH-EAST GREENLAND. This is the first part of an expedition cruise undertaken in September this year which started in Longyearbyen, Svalvard to the North-East Greenland National Park and ending in Iceland, just before winter closes in and the sea freezes over. The park is the largest in the world and the least visited with only about 500 visitors a year. Several landings were made, usually centred around old trappers' huts and, on Greenland, research stations also depots of the Sirius Patrol, more of which can be found on www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15940985 . With grateful thanks to Bill Hines, as always, on www.beechbrook.com/pte Maureen
