Rosy, Closing PTE either way is exactky the same, you should get a message asking if you want to save. If you click on 'Don't Save' then your original project should remain untouched. Doing something like you describe it is always best to save as a new file name first & then work on that so that you still have your original. If you have lost it all I hope you can recreate it easily. Jill

Rosy, if you cannot easily break the show into parts due to the sound changes, then you will have to edit the sound. It is very easy in PTE to copy & paste a group of Slides into another project to make a separate show. To copy the sound as well then you need to Link each sound clip to a Slide. You can then maybe adjust the sound so it ends naturally or fade it out for each part. Jill

what aspect ratio is your Project? If it is 16:9 then any image/video will fit to that ratio Your image above is how I would expect it to look Jill
-
Videos on YouTube appear very quickly, unless it was a large 4K video, then it will take some time for YouTube to render it it 4K The Link is there as soon as you start the process. Jill
-
That should work
-
But it only works within the same project. It would be nice if we could save a Quick Style for use in another Project as it doesn't change the Slide Timing like normal Styles do - which is why I never use them. Jill

Copy & Paste the Slide to the new Show, then just change the image to the one you want. All of the keyframes will be copied with the Slide Jill

Video used as background: trim end w/o changing keys?
jkb replied to RGAkins's topic in General Discussion
Just move the next Slide up to the point you want it to stop. If this is the last Slide, then either add a Blank to fade it out or else shorten the duration of that slide. As long as 'Scale Keyframes' is turned off then it shouldn't affect anything else. Jill -

jkb replied to RGAkins's topic in General Discussion
if you have turned off 'Scale Keyframes' then they shouldn't move. Also check in Slide options Main Tab for the Slide with the video on it. I always have scale keyframes off as it can cause a lot of problems if you are not aware of it. Jill -
Video used as background: trim end w/o changing keys?
jkb replied to RGAkins's topic in General Discussion
turn off 'scale keyframes on time change' in settings/preferences/project Then in O&A properties tab click on Adjust Time Range and drag the right hand 'triangle' under the video to the left to the point you want Jill -
Key frames are in milli seconds you cannot change that. I very rarely if ever type in the keyframe time, just drag it along the Timeline in O&A to the postion you want. If you display the music in O&A it makes it easier to position the keyframes to fit. You can switch the time shown in O&A between Global times & local Times - see Tools Jill

Barry. glad that you are now sorted & understand what Master Video does. I think it is very user friendly & a quick way to easily play a video over several slides. Mostly it is used with longer videos where you want other elements of the image to be changing while the video plays. Your 8 secs one is quite short for this use. Jill
-
Barry, it is doing exactly what I would expect. The video plays for it's duration of 14 secs & then stops. I cannot see what the duration of each Slide is, but managed to make out that the total duration is 20 secs? So your Slides are longer than the length of the video. If you want the video to keep playing for the entire length of the project, then you either need to shorten the Slide duration to be the same length as the video, Or you need to add the video again after 14 secs, resetting it back to Master Video from 14 secs & then Link on the following Slides where it will play for another 14 secs and so on. If the Slide durations mean that 14 secs comes in the middle of a Slide then just put the appropriate Offset on the 2nd occurrence of the video so that it will start playing when the first one finishes. Once you grasp the principal it is quite easy to set up Jill
-
The point of Master/Linked Video is to play a longer video continuously over/under several Slides - It is NOT for looping a video The Slides may be still images or a video themselves It is to build up a montage effect and when I use it I usually have the video in a Mask to give a soft edge to it rather than just having a smaller sized video. But it can be used in different ways depending on what you are trying to produce If you just want to repeat (loop) a video then just add it several times as a normal video Jill
-
Hi Barry as I said above, you need to add your video in O&A to 2 or more Slides. Don't add the video in Timeline or Slide view The Slides - Still images need to be added to the Timeline as normal. The video (smaller than full size) is then added ontop of the still images, or the size of the still is reduced & the full size video set to be behind the still The duration of your video needs to be longer than the duration of at least 1 Slide. So if your video is only 8 secs then you need at least 2 slides where the first has a duration of less than 8 secs. The video will then continue to play into the 2nd Slide until it runs out. You would normally use Master Video where you have a much longer video that needs to play over several Slides. If as in your example above you simply want to repeat the video then just add it as narmal several times. Jill
-
Barry, your video needs to be longer than the duration of at least 1 Slide. You add your Slides to the Timeline in the normal way. In O&A add your Video on Slide 1 (or wherever you want it to start) as a Master Video Adjust it's size/position/opacity etc as required Easiest option is to Copy & Paste the video onto the next Slide It will automatically be set as Link To Continue to Copy & Paste onto subsequent Slides for the Length of the Video. The video will then play continuously over several slides Hope this helps Jill

Just use a normal blank slide with the circle transition and it will do what you want. With PTE11 you can now easily position the centre of the circle to be exactly where you want. Jill

.pte files opening in wrong version from Explorer [Solved]
jkb replied to jkb's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Igor, Thanks. I have just completely uninstalled PTE11 & done a fresh install & it is now working. As you say something was corrupted. But as Windows 7 no longer does any updates I do not know what. The only other update I have done recently is to FireFox Browser. Anyway it all appears to be working OK now. Jill -
.pte files opening in wrong version from Explorer [Solved]
jkb replied to jkb's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Nelson, thanks for reminding me of your problem. But I have tried all the steps that I can think of & it still is not working. It is getting more strange!!! I have the Icon for PTE 11 on my Taskbar - as are all the programs I use frequently. When I left click the Icon PTE11 opens with the last project as expected If I right click the Icon & select one of the files - all created in PTE11 - it opens PTE10.5 & I get the warning message that the file was created in a newer version. Right click, then left click on PTE AV Studio 11 opens the correct version with the last project. Something very strange is going on. With all the beta installs I left the 'associate PTE' box unticked & only ticked it once PTE11 was finally released. But for some reason it is not working. Jill -
.pte files opening in wrong version from Explorer [Solved]

After checking last night that double Click from explorer worked corrctly on my Desktop, I have just manually associated .pte files with PTE11 on my Laptop. But it is still not working. But today it is now opening in 10.5.9 rather than 10.0.10 as it was yesterday. I found I still had lots of beta versions from 9, 10, 10.5 & 11 so I have uninstalled all of those, not that that should make any difference. Not sure what else to try now? Jill -
.pte files opening in wrong version from Explorer [Solved]
jkb replied to jkb's topic in Troubleshooting
I have installed the latest V11.0.1 on my Desktop & double click in Explorer opens in V11.0.1 So looks like my Laptop is doing strange things again. But I notice that the date of the program.exe is also showing as yesterday 17th January at 18:12 even though I have just installed it now on 18th January at 19:40. This is the Date Modified so I would expect it to show the current date. Jill -
I have just installed the new version 11.0.1 ( 18/01/2023 at about 16:00) and made sure that 'associate .pte files' was ticked during install. But when I double click a .pte file in Windows Explorer it is trying to open in PTE 10 Not even 10.5 I created a new test file with just a blank slide & Text, making sure I was in 11.0.1 Saved it, checked in Notepad that it was created in 11.0.1, but double click from explorer still tries to open in PTE10 I have reinstalled 10.5.9 build 3 again, making sure that 'associate pte files' was ticked, but a project saved in 11 still tries to open in 10.0.10 build 8. Creating & saving a project in 10.5.9 also tries to open it in 10.0.10. Sample Test projects with Blank Slide & Text TestOpen10.5.pte TestOpen11.pte I have checked in Control Panel that the .pte file is Associated with PTE AV Studio & it is but doesn't show the Version I clicked on Change Program to make sure it was using PTE11 But looking at the install dates for both 10.5 & 11 neither are correct. 10.5 is showing September 2022 even though I have just reinstalled it today 18th January 2023 And PTE11 is showing yesterday, when I have just installed it today and didn't do any installs yesterday 17th January. Something strange is going on!! This is all on my Win 7 Laptop Will check later tonight on my Win 10 desktop I don't normally open PTE files from Explorer & usually Open the Version of PTE that I want to use first, then do File/Open So I don't know how long this has been incorrect. For doing talks, you mainly need to know what you are doing & rehearse it before each talk. That's what I do. With the new feature in PTE11 you can easily export all the Slides as smaller jpgs & then print them out with some notes if you find that helps. It would be useful if in a future version we could run PTE so that the FullScreen view could be put on a different monitor (ie the Projector) but still be able to have the Project open on the laptop to be able to see what the following Slides were. Good Luck with the Talks. Jill

Firstly welcome to PTE, once you get the hang of things you will realise how easy it is to use. Secondly, Yes PTE 11 is well worth upgrading to for the new features. Drag'n'Drop in the Objects & Animations is worth the upgrade alone without all the other new features. To try to answer your questions. To add, delete or move images to a different place do it in Slide View, not Timeline view. Use Timeline View to adjust the Durations & Transition Times of Slides & to sync with the music. When adding a new Slide the reason that the times will change on adjacent Slides is because the Default Setting are to have 'Show Full Duration' This can be very confusing for new workers as if you have changed durations or Transition times, then moving a Slide can change the Transition Time or Duration. The 'Full Duration' includes the Transition Time of the following Slide so it will change depending on what is following the current Slide. Have a look in Settings/Preferences/Project and see if the options are ticked - see screen shot below. It is up to you how you work and some people prefer to have these settings on, but a lot (myself included) prefer to have them Off. Try both to see what happens & then decide which you prefer. Enjoy PTE and you will soon be making some great shows. Jill

Hi Ken, All PTE versions are forward compatible, so if you created a show in 8 then you can open it in 11. They are only backwards compatible if you haven't used any of the new features in the later versions. But you will get a warning message saying that it was made in a later version & may not work. So if you have made a show in 11 & only used the basic features of adding images with simple transitions, then it should open in 8. Although not sure why you would want to go back as each new version is so much easier to work with. There is no Batch Publish feature and to be honest I am not sure there would be enough need for it for the developers to spend time on such a feature. As I said above, if you use the 'Run Application' to make your Menus then there is no need to republish the individual exe's All you have to do is change your top level Menus & all the shows will still work. Hope this helps. Jill
