I agree, this would be very useful. Also the ability to 'Solo' a track so that you don't have to mute all the other tracks. Jill

Video sound heared beyond the end of a shortened video
jkb replied to Dominique's topic in Troubleshooting
The sound of the video will be heard over the transition to the next slide. If you wish to adjust the sound, volume, length etc. then right click the video in the Timeline & select 'Separate Audio from Video' You can the adjust as needed. Jill -
To get Text to be the same on multiple slides simply set up your first one, then copy & Paste the Text Object onto other slides. Jill
-
Click on the first keyframe & then shift click outside the last on the bottom object & it will select them all Jill
-
Hold down shift & they will all move as 1 block Jill

Gary you can easily switch between the two in O&A. Click on Tools & there is an option to switch to Global Times. Click again & uncheck Global & it goes back to Local times. Jill

I often copy & Paste Slides from 1 project to another & have not had any problems. Jill

Ken, if you open the .pte file with something like Notepad then you can see the version of PTE that it was created with. You can then start that version of PTE and open it from there. Jill

Gary it isn't physically triming, it is only setting the point for the video to start playing. When you add your 2nd clip you also 'trim' that to the start point you want and so on It really is very quick & easy to do. Have a try. Jill

Gary, you don't drag the end. In Timeline just position the playhead & add the next slide/video at that point, very quick & easy. Even if you trim front & back by using Adjust Time range in O&A the video will still be the original length. You are just adding instructions on what to show, which is why you can always go back & alter it at a later date. If you are using lots of video then you should be publishing as an MP4 not an exe With an exe the file size will be dependant on the original file size of the videos. But even if you use multiple parts from 1 video it will only be included once in the final file size. With your method of converting before hand and adding multiple seperate video files to the project, you could actually end up with a larger file size than by simply adding the one video & triming in Timeline/O&A Hope this helps Jill

Gary, you don't need a trim end function. By positioning the following slide at the point you want the video to end you are effectively trimming the video. No need for extra clicks to do this. Jill

Sorry Ken, that is not a bug but the way it works and always has. Resizing any of the panes in the Main window, slide view, timeline or in O&A and they will retain that position until you resize them again. Jill

Ken, all major versions can be installed still leaving the previous versions. If you have several verions of PTE installed, then open the version you want to use, then use Open from the file Menu to select the .pte file you want. Jill

Are you maybe looking at a 4:3 show on a 16:9 monitor. When watching full screen you will still have black borders either side. Other than that I have no idea. As Barry says O&A always reflects what you see. Jill

Igor & his team are working on PTE11 & already have some new features in place. He said a while ago that there would be a new type of simple slide style that would preserve any existing setting that are already in place. Hopefully we can begin testing sometime in the next few months Jill
-
Even using the fit/cover style will alter any settings you already have. As you are amending an old project which already has animation etc I didn't suggest it. If you are reworking an old project then you will be looking at every slide anyway? Hopefully in PTE 11 we will be able to simple styles like these without changing any previous settings. Jill

O&A Properties tab you can do it slide by slide. Or simply zoom the slide to fit as you need it Jill
-
yes but the capital Q can make a difference

maybe it is because it contains the letters 'Quit' - just a thought! Jill

Hi Peter, I am using Windows 10, but was speaking to someone last week who uses Windows 11 & he said that Windows Defender does not like .exe files & will throw them out. So he has to disable Windows Defender. I have also found that PTE does like any strange characters in a file name, so I always rename everything to just have standard characters, numbers and hyphens. Why are you using a link to a Shortcut rather than to the actual file itself? Jill
-
Gary, to be honest I have never looked at the Help Files. If you always look at what Igor posts in the Forum when a new version is released, then you will keep up to date with the changes. Jill

Gary, even in DaVinci you still need to work out where your cut point is by playing the video. You do exactly the same in PTE. Play the video in slide 1 to find the point you want to end it. Put the play head at that point. Drag and drop the video to that point to create slide 2. Then drag the play head over slide 2 to find the start point for your next section. It really is quick and easy. If you find the need to adjust the timings slightly, then do that in O&A adjust times. You do know that you can resize that window to make it wider to find the points more easily. I sometimes drag it right across both monitors to get a wider view. You don't end up with lots of separate clips as you still have to render (publish) the final output to a single video, just as you have to in DaVinci. But I find that PTE seems to be slightly faster at rendering than DaVinci. You can always make a separate project to edit the video down first and then add the final edit to your main project. Don't know how you missed the trim beginning of video as that has been available for a long time. Jill

Add your video to slide 1 Add the same video to Slide 2 In Timeline View Move Slide 2 to the point you want the video to end in slide 1. Move the play head to the point you want Slide 2 Video to start. Right click & select Trim beginning of Video Repeat until you have the all the bits you want. Add a short blank at the end if you need to trim the last part, or in O&A Adjust Time to trim the end Publish as an MP4 - or simply add any other video or still images as required before publishing your final show Easy Yes you can do it in Resolve, but you still have to render the final output after you have cut it to then use in PTE. I have edited a lot of Video in PTE without problems, I also use Resolve but usually only when I have a multi camera shoot & I need to sync up the cameras. Everything else can be done in PTE & usually a lot quicker than in Resolve. Jill
