  1. Shouldn't be, I often use both. It could be a corrupt file, but if it plays in Preview then it should play in the MP4 Try making small projects with just 1 image & the music files 1 at a time. See which plays & which doesn't Jill PS Also make sure you haven't muted a track
  2. remove them 1 by 1 until you find the cause. Also check the properties to see if 1 is different from the others Jill
  3. But why convert?? Just do each one as required when building the AV. No point in resizing to 3:2 & then finding that you have cut something vital off that is needed to allow the images to flow. I aways work with full size images to build up an AV. It is then easy to Zoom, adjust position etc in PTE to make the story & images flow. Then once I am happy with the order & composition I will resize them all down to match the Project size in Photoshop, saving as a new name. You need to keep the final exe as small as possible to run smoothly Jill
  4. You only add the images that you are using to PTE and resize them to suit. No need to do anything outside of PTE Jill
  5. In PTE select cover instead of fit and the images will automatically fill the frame of the project. Or you can go into O&A and zoom each image to the size you require. Jill
  6. I often make Menu projects that do not have any images, they are all on blank slides. Although they do contain a rectangle to give a background colour and maybe a PNG image with a logo. Never had any problems with these. I have never made a project with just text. Jill

  8. Hi Igor, we are having a 'Sound in AV' meeting at Wilmslow on Friday. We will be trying out different microphones, both mono & stereo and putting the sound files into PTE. This is an interesting problem & we will try it out to see exactly what happens. with different mics & different versions of PTE Also using Audacity, Audition etc. Jill
  9. Try to uninstall & then reinstall PTE Which version are you using? Jill
  10. In the Animation tab setting the center point to be -100 and the in the Properties Tab text to be left aligned I have never had any problems. Your first 3 images the text all looks aligned. The only thing that makes it look slightly off is that you have the Author name in italic Not sure why you have set line spacing to -100. The line spacing is when you have more than 1 line of text in a single text Object & it determines how far apart each line is. Jill
  11. the Fade In\Fade Out sliders along with the Volume control line are only available in the Pro version of PTE. With the Studio version you can adjust Fade In \Fade Out in the Audio Tab - double click the waveform Jill
  12. In Timeline view just put 2 clips on the same track & drag one onto the other so they overlap for the time you require. Very easy. Going from 6.5 to 10 is a massive leap though Jill
  13. If at all possible I would like to be able to export what is seen in the mini preview window. ie at a specific time point. I initially work with full sized images straight out of the camera. I do a lot of work in PTE as it is so much quicker, using Masks to remove distractions, resizing & repositioning images to align, colour adjustments etc. I may have several attempts to get exactly the view I require. To make my finished AV I then have to replicate this work in Photoshop to be able to reduce the file size of the final image. It would save a lot of time if I could save the view in PTE as say a 1920 x 1080 image at 72 dpi to reduce the file size. I could then simply replace the full sized, adjusted images with one single small sized image in the final production. Jill
  14. Right click and clone is what I use all the time. This works the same as + I think. I then just position the keyframe exactly where I want it. Which may take a few attempts to get it right with the music and flow of the slide I very rarely if ever need to untick any of the settings. Jill
  15. Not something I would normally want as I tend to work slide by slide and adjust each duration on the timeline as I add the slide or video. But I can see it could be useful to some people. Jill
  16. I also would like to choose the exact point to capture the image. Therefore I would want to use it from either the Timeline or O&A. A Small button on the main interface or a hot key combination if possible would be best. Jill
  17. Have you unzipped it first? Make sure you keep the exe and the ptshow files together in the same folder. Jill
  18. I am not even sure if that video option is available in the Zoom version I am using. We were doing some tests yesterday & I don't remember seeing it. I will check tomorrow when we run the Wilmslow meeting. They keep updating Zoom all the time & I am sure that my 5.7.8 is not the latest Jill
  19. Hi Gary, If you make a final MP4 then the file is not that big & it doesn't matter how many or how large the original video files are. I often find that I will need to use several short clips from one video file. I just put them into PTE & trim as needed for each one. This way you are only using a video file once rather than having many seperate clips. But it all depends on how you work. Jill
  20. just wondering why you would need to use the convert option now as PTE10.5 can play any video files Jill
  21. Hi Igor, thanks for the info. As you know we regularly share screen to show our AV's & they all work well. In any competition or event we can get a mixture of exe, MP4, MOV, WMV, M4V and sometimes AVI files These are all run from a PTE Menu .exe which of course can launch any file. We use VLC Player to run video files It is not practical to keep changing between 'optimise' & 'not optimised' to run exe or video. We find it best to always use 'Optimise' when showing an AV whatever file type. If you are sharing the screen to demonstrate something, such as PTE, then turn the 'optimise' off as any text will look blurred. We also find that 60p runs smoother than other fps rates. Slower transitions appear smoother than faster ones. The most important factor when showing any AV's over Zoom is your internet upload speed. Jill
  22. Thanks Igor, that's great news. Jill
  23. this is a very low resolution these days. Your images won't look as good as they could do, but if the audience are used to those standards then they will no doubt not notice! Good luck with the show Jill
  24. you really need to know the resolution of the projector & make your images that size. Also try to make sure that the projector & computer resolution match You also need a computer with good graphics PTE does a great job of upsizing, but I find if it has to downsize large images they can look a bit oversharpened. We often project onto a very large 26 foot wide screen. I think the projector that is used is full HD 1920x1080 But I have shown exe files made at 1024x768 and they still look great when filling the screen. Both exe & MP4 play equally well, but make sure that the program used to play MP4's is set up correctly to display them fullscreen without any of the interface showing. Depending on the operating system & any anti virus installed you may be better off with MP4. exe files can sometimes be rejected by antivirus. You really are better with your own laptop that you know will play your shows well if at all possible. Relying on unknown equipment can only cause problems. Also check the sound system to mkae sure your shows can be heard at their best as well as seen. If they only have the laptop speakers or tiny little speakers it is never going to sound like you intend. Ideally get there in plenty of time to test everything out before the audience start arriving. There is nothing worse than still trying to set up with the audience already waiting. Jill
  25. yes use the Change image button & select the new file. You can also change it from O&A properties tab. All your original settings remain for the new image Jill
