Hi Jim, No, you can only link a sound clip to a single Slide. If you Link sounds to slides further down the project & then add a new slide the sounds will stay linked to their original slides. You need to Link each sound to the appropriate Slide manually. Then whenever you move tat Slide or adjust its timing the sound will stay in the same position relative to that Slide. Jill

Combining complete (image-audio).pte project files
jkb replied to Laszlo K's topic in General Discussion
Linking the sound to a slide is very useful if you have it synced to that slide but then find you need to adjust the timing of any previous slides. The sound will still stay in perfect sync with that slide when it is moved. I have done it with many audio clips. If you have clips that overlap, when you link the first sound will cut off when the second starts & you will lose the crossfade. I link it temporary while copying then when pasted into the new project, unlink the sound to restore the crossfade. It only takes a few seconds to go through & link all the clips. The problem with DG's method is that you now only have 1 sound clip so cannot make any adjustments should you need to. Jill -
Combining complete (image-audio).pte project files

if you link the seperate audio files to slides then you can copy & paste all the slides & the audio will go with them. You can link audio on different tracks to the same slide. I have done this many times when I want to copy existing projects to a new one. Jill -
I had another AV which I made which featured pictures of all the Judges we have used in a Competition over the years. My Folder structure was in Years & each image was called Judges.jpg So I had 2014/Judges.jpg 2015/Judges.jpg etc Of course PTE couldn't make a Template or BIZ of this AV In this case I cannot rename the files as I need the Folder structure for all the other files that need to be kept together by Year. I would prefer if possible for a Prefix rather than suffix to be appended to the Duplicates. The File Path is already present in the .pte file so it should be easy to just amend to include more of the Path to make it unique instead of just the Filename. Hopefully this will be possible in a future version. Jill

Normally I do put all files into one folder. In my latest project, it was a background image that was used on every slide. I was working on my laptop and had to copy the project to my desktop to give a talk over Zoom. I had no time to go through all 70 slides to find out which one was different. Still not sure how it happened as each slide was copied from the previous to make sure background and title text were I exactly the same place. If PTE could at least say which slides had duplicate folders it would help narrow down where to look. Jill

I agree this is a problem, you cannot create a Template or a backup zip. If PTE could maybe just add the Folder name to distinguish that would help. I have just had the same problem, but only with 70 slides. Jill

The best way is to record at a decent level in the first place!! I know this doesn't always happen, but once overloaded & the peaks are clipped then there is nothing you can do about it. It is the equivalent of blown out highlights in an image, once gone you can't recover. If your sound level is too low, then normalise can lift the clip evenly - all it does is add the same amount to the whole clip, keeping all the peaks & troughs. If only certain parts are low, then select each & lift those This can be done in something like Audacity fairly quickly. It is best to normalise to about -3db, -1db is the absolute limit Never take it to zero If PTE could include a VU meter in a future version that would be a big help Jill

could be the way you are copying it - make sure you only select to the last character & not the whole line I have not had this problem & currently doing a lot of copy & paste. Jill

I can still run old exe files on my Windows 10. It does come up with a warning & if you select More... Then you can choose 'Run Anyway' If you still have problems then right click & choose run as administrator Jill

Automatic copying of files from one project to another.
jkb replied to vbl2007's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
The Template Folder is only as large as all the files in your project. If what you are asking is for all files in a Project to be copied automatically then this is what a Template does. I use them all the time to save my Projects. The advantage is that you can open any Template from within PTE very quickly. Jill -

Copy the Slides to the new Project, then save that as a Template. All files associated with that Project will be placed in the Template Folder. PTE has always been able to do this. Jill -
Hi Matt, great pictures. The text is moving much too fast to read it. Moving text is much harder to read than still text It would be better to just put up a line at a time, leave it on long enough to read. You know what it says, but your audience only has one chance to read it and they will be looking at the video as well. Then put up the next line. Add a drop shadow - make the size of the shadow large so it adds a soft blur to the background of the text which helps it stand out against the image. Jill

It will be something in your sound settings, not PTE. What program are you using to play MP3? Maybe that is taking over the sound. Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar and select playback devices and see what is set. You may have to enable the wlan speaker. Jill

if you can play MP3 files then I don't see why you can't play the exe. Have you tried an MP4? Also can you hear sound when you play in Preview in PTE? Jill

open a 2nd copy of PTE, trim your video in that & then replace the original with the trimmed version. personally I use O&A, unless it is a really long video & I only want a few seconds of it. But I always make an MP4 these days rather than exe Jill

Thanks. Something else I have noticed is in O&A When Cloning a keyframe it used to set the new Cloned keyfram 0.5 sec after the original. Now the distance seems to be an arbitary number & varies depending on the screen time of the slide. This also happens in 10.14 I don't have earlier versions on this computer to check. Not really important as I never look at the numbers, but noticed it when giving demos to beginners - especially all the new Mac workers. Jill -
Yes it works well Jill

Discussion of PTE AV Studio 10.5 for Windows (Beta)
jkb replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Igor, the problem of files remaing Bold & Blue occurs in Full screen view of filelist. Add slides, either by dragging from filelist, double clicking in Filelist, or from Full Screen view of Filelist. Those selected show Blue & Bold. Remove one or more slides from slidelist (or from full screen Slidelist) The name goes back to normal in the Filelist, but in Full screen Filelist it is still Blue & Bold. Coming out of Full screen & clicking on another Folder, then return to original Folder and full screen view & the filenames are now back to normal. The Blue colour needs to be brighter as doesn't stand out that much in either Light or Dark Mode. Jill -
Discussion of PTE AV Studio 10.5 for Windows (Beta)
jkb replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
Hi Igor, thanks I will try again with the new version tomorrow. Another problem we discovered tonight when giving a demo of PTE to both Mac & Windows users. If you add slides in slideview (or fullscreen Filelist) the filename now goes Bold & changes to a blue colour. The blue is not that easy to see in light mode, maybe red would be better. If you then delete all the slides in the slidelist, the filenames still remain Bold & Blue. You need to click on another folder folder then come back to the original folder for them to reset. Tried on both the Windows and Mac version & it happens in both. Jill -
Discussion of PTE AV Studio 10.5 for Windows (Beta)
jkb replied to Igor's topic in General Discussion
When installing PTE 10.5 b28 it no longer asks which previous version to copy setting from. So I have had to set it up from scratch. This is the first 10.5 beta I have downloaded. All previous versions of PTE ask which version to copy settings from. Will this be corrected in the final version? Jill -
Hi Mark, depending on how long the video meeting tomorrow lasts we can have a quick zoom session & I will try to sort out your problems. Otherwise maybe on Friday after the Leeds meeting. Jill
-
Mark, I agree that just using effects sparingly as you have is better than all the way through. I think that would have spoiled it. I assume that both the Windows & Mac do the same thing, would seem strange if they don't. There are bugs in the Windows version if you try to change timings after setting up the Master/Link. Not tried it for a while so assume they still exist. Maybe Igor can look at it once the mac version is finished. Jill
-
Mark, you should be able to create the longer video in PTE, just be careful to align the start & end points of each clip so that it flows. If it is falling snow (as in All Human Beings?) then you may just be able to add the single video to each slide. Again depends on how it flows from slide to slide. As Dave says the video must be long enough to cover the slides you require to use Master & Linked video. You could try slowing it down to make it longer? Jill
