The above shows the reasons why I never use Slide Styles or FSD - Total confusion !!! New users don't stand a chance Small point Gary but AB is actually the Transition Type not the Transition Duration. Jill
-
glad you have sorted it Jill

Make sure you are in timeline view and not slide view. Jill
-
In timeline view, Click on the centre of the slide you want to start from and drag it to the right. All the following slides should also move with it. Then use the cut transitions feature to bring them back left in time to your music. Jill

If the preview is running then that screen should already have focus. If not then use Alt+Tab to quickly get to that window. I thought that only one PTE window could have focus. Unless that has changed, I only have one monitor at the moment so can't check. Jill

you need to do File/Open then navigate to where Sequence 2 is in your computer folder/file list. Click Open and the slides for Sequence 2 will appear in the SlideList. The FileList will not change & you will need to navigate to the correct Folder within PTE to see the files(images) for that sequence. Jill

I have just downloaded 10.10 onto my laptop - also win7 64 bit And everything works as it should. On both main PC & laptop I download from the Forum & don't associate PTE icon. My laptop was previously version 10.05 Desktop was 10.09 Jill

tried again & yes the Triangle in slide view & Timeline view closes the program. PTE pro 10.0.10 build 6 Windows 7 64 bit I start a new project - which opens my default template of 2 blank slides. I add some extra slides in Slide view Press the triangle & PTE immediately closes without any warning -does the same even if I don't add any slides. Also same from sample project It worked fine using PTE 10.0.9 so I may well restore that version, although working on anything at the moment. Jill

I am using Windows 7 64 bit. As I said I only downloaded 10.10 today. I think the triangle worked ok, will check later when back on computer. Jill
-
I tried with 10.9 & it worked as usual. Just downloaded 10.10 & yes F4 does close down PTE. This happens with both a new or old project. I think most people would use the little triangle to enter fullscreen slidelist rather than the function key But having something that instantly closes down the program without saving the changes is not good. could get boring very quickly if all the images do exactly the same thing. A bit of variation always helps. But in principle what you suggest should work (I think - I never use slide styles as I never want to repeat the same thing twice!) Jill
-
George, if your images are square then simply set your project aspect ratio to 1:1 Some of the images may need slight tweaking but most should be ok. Jill

If you want to move the keyframes to another Object, then the only way is to add keyframes to that Object. If you want to alter the positioning of the Objects, then do that in the Object list Ctrl+PgUp or Ctrl+PgDn Jill

Text/caption improvement
jkb replied to rstovall7@comcast.net's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
set up the text once, then save as a Text Template & you will then have the same properties to quickly apply to future Text items -
Look in project options audio tab to make sure there isn't another copy of the sound bit hiding underneath the music. Jill

to shorten an audio clip, put your mouse on the right hand end. It will change to a double headed arrow. Simply click and drag the end to the left to make it the length you need. You can then adjust the volume to the required level. post a screen grab of your timeline if you are still having problems. Jill

Animation - Unexpected Change of Object Position Between Keyframes
jkb replied to Tejano Bob's topic in General Discussion
or use WeTransfer.com for files up to 2GB Jill -
If you 'close' a project, what would you then do next?? The only options are - 1. Start a New Project - File/new 2. Open an existing project - File/Open 3. Close PTE - close the window with the red X You do not need to 'close' a project to do any of the above 3 options. You cannot have PTE open without a project - it has no meaning You say you don't want to be reminded every few minutes to save a project - then just untick this option. I have never used the autosave as I always want to be in control of when I save and if I overwrite the current version or save with a new name. If you look at the 'floppy disk' icon (top left toolbar) it is grey when you have saved your recent changes & blue when you have not. Also PTE will always ask if you want to save when you close it down. So there is no danger of losing anything when you do not use autosave. I am not trying to say your proposals are unreasoned, just that thousands of people have been using PTE for many years & have never had need of a close project button. It is the way the program works As JT49 asks tell us what you expect to happen when you want to close a project Jill
-
File/ new will give you the same result. No need to close anything. Jill
-
There is only one download & the free trial lasts for 30 days. You can easily switch between versions in the Trial to see the differences - settings/preferences If you want to do any sound editing or image manipulation in PTE rather than an external program then go for the Pro If you do go for the standard & then find later that you need the Pro, you just pay the difference in price. In Objects & Animation screen, each 'Object' has its own timeline & keyframes. To animate something you need a start & end point. Click on your Text Object and you will see a blue keframe at the start of the Timeline. When adding your Text object make sure it is not a child of the background (appears below the background in the Object list) If it is then you need to either delete it & add again making sure the background is NOT selected when you add Or right click the Text & Cut, then making sure the background is not selected, right click & paste Left click on this keyframe & drag it to where you want your animation to start. Right click on the keyframe & select Clone, a new keyframe will appear. Drag this keyframe to where you want your animation to end Adjust the Text - size, colour, position etc that you want for the animation. Press play (space bar) and watch your animation. Once you get the hang of it, it really is easy Jill

If you need to do tests, then simply do File/new to open up a new project. You will be asked if you wish to save the current project - click do not save. When finished with the test just close the window with the red X, again select do not save. No need for any extra buttons or options. I have been using PTE for about 16 years, regularly do tests & demonstrations & have needed any other options to close. Jill
-
I have done this in the past. If you save your PTE show as a template, this will store all of the files used in one folder. I can't remember exactly how I did it but there is an option in Photoshop to print all of the images in a sort of grid on one or more pages. You can also print as a PDF. May not be exactly what you want but it could be a start. Jill

Just right click and unlink, then left click on the new slide you wish to link to and right click on the audio again Jill

Best wishes to all the team, stay safe Jill
