  1. I don't care what the numbers are, or how many there are of them, I need my keyframes to relate to the music/soundtrack. I need to be able to roughly position a keyframe then finely adjust it by using the arrow keys. Can't now remember if we can do this as it is a long time since I made anything that used keyframes. Too busy just making Menus these days!! Jill
  2. Thanks Dave, that worked Jill
  3. I am creating a Menu to run various shows. Each group of AV's is within a Frame But only the items in the top Frame (in the O&A Object List) are clickable It seems that the top Frame hides all the lower Frames. Is this a bug or is it meant to work this way? I think the actual Frame should be transparent and still allow objects located in a lower Frame to be clickable. I know I can resize all the Frames so that they don't overlap, but this means having to resize & align everything again. Jill
  4. Hi George, It really is down to the Graphics card. 1920 x 1080 is standard for video files. If the laptop has dual graphics ie an inbuilt chip on the motherboard - usually intel, and also a seperate dedicated graphics card - usually Nvidia. Then you can force the laptop to use the dedicated graphics. It should play better but may still judder occasionally depending on the dedicated VRam. If there is only the inbuilt chip then it is unlikely to play video in an exe smoothly, or even some complex animation. A solution is to publish an MP4 file and to use VLC player to play this. I have found that VLC will play just about everything. We now make an MP4 for anything with video when we don't know the spec of the computer it will be played on , for sending to competitions etc. Jill
  5. Maybe Igor still needs to look at it to find out why it does this? Jill
  6. Hi George, it could be that your PNG files are too large. John had a similar problem with large PNG files. Try saving at a smaller size and see if that works. Jill
  7. It is useful to tempoarily mute one track so you can listen to the others to adjust timing , level etc. So it is a very useful feature. However it would be nice to be able to just mute a single clip rather than the whole track. What is also needed is the ability to be able to solo one track quickly. It takes time to have to go through & mute/unmute tracks individually. A 'solo' feature would automatically mute the other tracks and then unmute when the Solo is turned off again. I now do all my audio mixing in PTE & very rarely have to use an external editor. Jill
  8. You can quickly mute a track in the timeline. Right click on the track and select mute. If you have more than one track do it for all. Jill
  9. You can still move the sound clip even when it is linked to a slide, just drag it along the timeline as normal. To link several clips to one slide they must be on different tracks. Jill
  10. Click on the slide you want to link to. Then right click the audio clip and select link to slide X. Jill
  11. Just above the file tree there should be a drive letter (normally C) with a little arrow next to it. Click on the little arrow and you should see all the other drives available. Select the one you want. Jill
  12. If you use run slideshow then all shows must be made with exactly the same version of PTE as the menu. Eg 9.0.16 If you have shows made with different versions then use run application. You need to set your menu slides to wait for key press and use the right arrow key to move between them. Jill
  13. Hi Willemx, Create a slide, add a text object with the name of each of your shows. You can also use a small image as the link to each show instead of Text In The Properties tab select 'action on mouse click' & set this to 'run application' & navigate to the correct show. If you remove the path name & just leave the show name - eg "Show1.exe" then you can run them from any drive or computer. NB you need to keep the " Just make sure that the Menu.exe & each Show.exe are all in the same folder Set the Projectect options for this one slide 'Menu' to be 'Wait for key press' & create the exe. To have all the shows run after each other you would need to have a seperate version of each show with a link in the Project OPtions Advance Tab to Run application on exit. Jill
  14. I confirm that the 'Wait for Key Press' problem has been solved. Thanks Jill
  15. Ken, this is a bug that I have already raised. Jill
  16. I have now created the .exe & I am getting the same Exception error when running the .exe file This is for a Public Competition next week so I have to have the show running perfectly. Jill Igor I will PM you the BIZ for the Project
  17. I keep getting exception errors when trying to Preview a show. This has happened occasionaly before, but is now happening every time I preview Fullscreen in 9.0.15 The show I am creating is a 'Menu' that has wait for key press set in Project Options. Sometimes it happens as soon as I move onto the 2nd slide, at other times I can step through seveal Slides before the Exception Occurs. It happens in all cases of starting a Preview - From the Preview button, by selecting a Slide & previewing from there using the 'slice of toast' icon, or by selecting a slide & right clicking in the mini viewer. If I click OK on the Exception Error the screen then freezes & I have to press Esc to return to PTE. The show will run in the mini viewer ( I haven't tried making an .exe yet as I am still working on it) Jill
  18. Hi Gary, There are several reasons why UK workers do not post their AV's online. A main one is copyright issues with the music. We all have licences giving us clearance to use copyright music, but YouTube will still throw them out. Also our AV's are made to be seen on a big screen with a good quality sound system, and many loose their impact on small screens or lower quality sound. We also enter them into several competitions throughout the year, so do not want prospective judges to have seen them. Although we do all tend to attend the same events!! As to putting them up on slideshow club, almost all of the entries are too large to be uploaded there. Another reason is that several of us go around clubs giving talks and shows, so do not want the audiences to have seen the work online beforehand. I agree that it would be usefull for others, especially newcomers to see good examples of AV's, but the best way is attend events or join an AV Group. I appreciate that there do not seem to be any in America that we know of. Take a look at our website www.avnews.org.uk for a Calendar of events & competitions around the world. If you know of any more then please contact us & we will gladly add them to the list. Jill
  19. We had another excellent weekend at the 23rd Great Northern Results and images are now available on our website www.gnfestival.org.uk and also on our Facebook Page Jill
  20. Do we need anything to alter the size of the box? At present as we type the box automatically adjusts to fit the text. What we need is the ability to change Size, Font & Colour of individual characters within a text object. Also an easy way of aligning several text objects If possible to be able to easily pick up characters with the mouse from the O&A window without having to go to the properties tab. Jill
  21. If you have set wait for key press in project options then it should allow you to control the show in the exe. Just make sure you haven't set any slide options to change automatically. Jill
  22. Mur, you should be able to see in the windows task bar how many copies of PTE you have open. You can then check each one to see if the project is already open. Jill
  23. For anyone within travelling distance of Manchester, England. The 23rd Great Northern Festival takes place on Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd December 2017. It is held at the Hough End Conference Centre, Mauldeth Road West, Manchester, M21 7SX close to Junction 5 of the M60 Motorway. Friday evening at 7:30pm we have a Guest Speaker Liam Sanderson. Liam is head of media studies at the Wales High School in Sheffield. With his help the students have made many Internationally award winning films and animations. He will present some of these & also talk about his work with the students. This should be an inspirational evening. Saturday & Sunday (10:00 am to 5:00 pm) we have the Great Northern & New Horizons competitions. We have a total of 61 entries (almost all made with PTE) from around the UK & Ireland. The authors range from beginners to international award winners, so you will see a wide variety of work. The 3 Judges will comment on the work in the New Horizons section so we all gain valuable feedback. Booking forms & more details are available on the website www.gnfestival.org.uk Tickets can be bought in advance (saving money) or you can pay on the door. We hope to see you there Jill & John
  24. Hi Andrew, I know the meaning of the Left, Centre, Right. It would be helpful if when you select 'Left' it automatically put the centre point to -100 I do set up 1 text object & copy it for the others, but I still find I am spending a lot of time aligning objects. When starting a Menu I do not always know how many Objects I will need or what the longest text will be. I find that it is if I have to reajust vertically that it takes the time. As stated previously I do not like having to work with the numbers & prefer to drag objects visually in the window. Yes I use the Grid, but again it is difficult to get the sizing right, you cannot get an even number of squares over the screen and it seems impossible to get the orange lines crossing in the centre of the screen. I have tried all options of the Offset. Jill
