Hi jt49, Yes I have used center x= -100 This does keep the text in the same position when adding or subtracting characters But it would be nice if I didn't have to remember to move the center point. I don't work with numbers & normally move things visually. I find the way the numbers work so confusing, it would be much simpler if everything was based on the main window size, but I know this would most likely make the programming harder. Also it would be good if I could move a group of objects all together to the same pan X position. E.G. I have 10 text objects down the screen & I want to align them all. I tried selecting all the objects in O&A and typing in -90 in the Pan X box but this only moves the last object & not them all. So I have to move each individually. Jill

When typing in Text I find it really annoying that the position moves when you add or change characters. Is it possible to set the position & keep it locked. So if 'Left Justified' then the 1st character will always stay in the same place when amending or adding additional text items. The same should apply to 'Right' - the last character will stay in a fixed place & also for 'Center' When making Menus we need all the text items to line up & it is very time consuming to have to keep moving them just because they are different number of characters. I make a lot of Menus for various shows & competitions & waste a lot of time having to move items into alignment. Jill

I am trying to make a Menu for the Great Northern Competition and have set Project Options to 'Wait for Key Press' This is no longer working in PTE9 It doesn't work in Preview & I have also made an exe which doesn't work I have tried the latest version 9.0.13, I also have 9.0.12, 9.0.9 & 9.0.1 and none of these will work Jill I thought this was a strange problem as I was sure I had previously made Menus with Version9. Checked & I have which do 'wait' Looked again at my current Menu & all the slides are named 'Blank' I just have a rectangle & then Text added to Blank slides. Changing the name of the slide to something else & the 'Wait for key press' works. Jill

Hi Andrew, the easiest way is in Slide view. Highlight all the slides (click on one then CTRL+A to select all) Then with them all highlighted amend the time in the transition box (top left next to the AB) either type a value or use the mouse wheel or arrow keys to adjust to what you want. Press enter & all the slides should change to the new time. If you want to change a new project then just adjust the Transition time before you add your slides. You can save the new settings as a Template & set this to be used for all future projects. Jill

Once you have connected your projector right click on the desktop and select display. It is one of the options, you can clone or extend and select which is monitor 1 and which is 2. When you Preview PTE in this mode it will ask which display you want the preview to be shown on. If you have two monitors connected to a desktop you can try it out to see how it works. Jill

You should be able to acheive this by running in Preview mode and setting up the dispaly to Extend the Desktop. This way you can set the Preview to show via the projector while still having access to the PTE screens on your laptop. Jill

I have now also had the same message when trying to preview from current slide. I tried several times previewing from different slides and got the error message each time. Jill

I am making a new show which has 'wait for key press' on each slide. I was running in Preview & it went through the first few slides without problem, then I pressed the right arrow key to move to the next slide & got an Access Violation error. I am using the latest version 9.0.12 I have run this several times previously & it was OK, but this time the error occurred & I had to Esc the preview as it wouldn't respond. Several other strange things have happened while building the show that I cannot quite explain, such as making changes to slides & then they disappear! Also changing the Slide name in Slide Options wouldn't always work. I cannot reproduce these problems when trying to work out what I did & what went wrong. Jill

Just checked & the left most option above the Timeline there is a check box 'Time Points' If you want to see the Flags then make sure this is checked. Jill

There is a button just above the Timeline that turns the flags on and off. Think it is on the left somewhere. Not at my computer at the moment so can't check. I always have the flags off as I find them distracting and prefer to always move slides in the slide view. That way I know my timings will be kept. Jill

Hi Gary. I agree, being able to move all tracks along together would be very useful. The other way which might work, is in Project Options Audio tab & then for each clip add the same offset time. But again it takes time when you have many clips. Jill

Gary, not at my computer so can't check, but I think this will work. Link each sound clip to a slide, doesn't matter which as long as they are all linked. Insert a blank slide at the start and make its duration is equal to the amount you want to shift the tracks by eg 5 secs. Then unlink all the sound clips and delete the blank slide. The sound clips should stay in the new position. Save your project as a new name first just in case! Jill

Depending on the nature of the video one way round this is to have a slide with the video only. In slide options, set this slide to loop. At the end of the video it will go back to the beginning and play over. In project options set the slides to wait for key press, then when you press the right arrow key the show will move onto the next slide which can be a combination of video and text etc. As I said it depends on the nature of the video and how visible the looping would be. Rob, you can easily join 2 or more Projects by using copy & paste. Open the project you wish to copy, select all slides, CTRL+C to copy, then open the project you wish to paste into & CTRL+V to paste. If you wish to copy any sound files as well then you will need to Link the individual sound clips to seperate Slides Doesn't matter which slide they are Linked to as long as each sound clip is linked. Once pasted into the joint project you can then unlink them. Jill

In V9 when you click on Help/WhatsNew it takes you to the Version 8 whats new page & not Version 9 Jill

Look under Settings/Preferences/Toolbars Make sure there is a tick next to 'Start Preview from current Slide' Otherwise just right-click in the mini preview window & it will start from that point fullscreen. Jill

Brian, do you have the latest version of vlc player? We use this to play many mp4 files, made with various software, in international competitions and find it always plays them smoothly. We also find that while a lot of hardware setups will struggle with an exe, the mp4 usually play smoothly. So I don't understand why you are having the opposite experience. Jill

If not all of the icons are showing on the projector it sounds as though some settings have been changed. Make sure that the projector resolution is correct via control panel and that you are duplicating the display rather than extending. The reason I suggested trying a PTE project is when you Preview if there are two screens is laptop and projector it will ask which you want to display it on, screen 1 or 2. Try with both to see what happens. If the message does not appear then it suggests that the screen is duplicated and the problem lies elsewhere. Jill

John, can you see the laptop desktop etc via the projector? Have you tried opening a PTE project and previewing that? I cannot think of any reason that the show would not project. Does it appear on the laptop screen but not on the projector? Give us some more details so we can try to help you further. Jill

In PTE9.0.9 I am changing some Text in O&A. Normally as I type the box will expand to fit the new Text, but it isn't always. I have several Slides with the same Text, on some Slides the box will expand to the new Text & on others it won't. Also the first time I tried to move on to the next Slide, using the arrows at the top right of the O&A screen, I got an Exception Violation. Sorry I didn't manage to capture this. Jill

Gary, as long as the video files are in the same folder as the exe it will play. If you moved just the exe to another computer, then the video would would not be available. The advantage is that the exe file size is much smaller. You then have the individual video files which could be uploaded separately, keeping the file sizes small. A smaller exe file will start faster and possibly play better on a slower computer. With the MP3 file. If you only had one track with a single or several MP3 files then there is no advantage in converting the output to a single MP3. But with several tracks, or mixed format files then converting reduces the file size of the exe. Jill
