sounds like it. I think Mark has a Blue Yeti so maybe ask him, but he is Mac so it may work differently. Jill

Moving image folders causes significant pain [SOLVED]
jkb replied to Mike-PDX's topic in Troubleshooting
There is no need to delete the files in their original location, that is up to you & how you manage your space. If you use a different program to create a show, then you will have to manage those files manually. You could still create a Folder within the main Templates Folder for them to keep everything together, but PTE will not pick it up. Jill -
I agree that we need VU meters as suggested. But a work around rather than having to use additional software to mix, it is possible to just open say Audacity and watch the VU meters in that while playing in PTE. Maybe not as accurate, but better than nothing & unless it is a really complicated soundtrack it saves having to do the sound outside of PTE. Jill

Check your Windows Sound Settings - Right Click the Volume indicator in the bottom Right of the Taskbar & check the settings Jill

Yes, but PTE does it automatically. Set up the main location in Preferences first. Then within PTE open a show & select File/Templates/Create Template from this show. It only takes a couple of Seconds to do. Open each show in turn & create a Template from it. You will see the list of Templates within PTE & it is then easy to open a show from there. I only create the Template for finished shows. For Work in Progress I keep using the existing Folders I have moved all my Templates to another computer in one go and as long as you tell PTE in Preferences where the main Folder is located, it will find all your shows. I can then easily copy a new .PT folder into the main folder on a different computer & PTE will pick it up. It is also very useful for backup of all your shows Rather than moving the Template Folder to another drive, I would move your original folders off if you need space. If you did change the Drive then you would need to update Preferences to show the new Drive. I have been using PTE for around 20 years & usually make a Template for each show once it is complete. It keeps everything in one place. I then copy the published exe or MP4 file into the .PT Folder so I can easily locate them as well. Jill -

Create a Template from your Project. This stores all of the used files, images/video/sounds in a .PT Folder. By having a group Folder for alll of your Projects and storing each .PT Folder within that, they are all in one place. They are also all accessible from within PTE See File/Templates and Settings/Preferences/Templates Jill -
I always thought the 'Undo All Changes' was for everything you have done since the last Save Command, not just on that Slide in O&A. You learn something new all the time Autosave will save every so many minutes regardless of which window you are in SoCu you can save at any point in O&A by pressing Ctrl+S & in the main window. Jill
-
turn off Auto Save in Settings/Preferences/Project & then all changes are only saved when you save them manually. Jill

put the play head at the point you want to split. Right click the audio & select Split. I agree that it would be quicker if we had a short cut key Jill

Hi Claude, avi is an uncompressed file, so will be much larger. The quality of MP4 with the latest version of PTE is the same as an exe and can be played on all devices Windows, Mac or Phone. See Publish/HD and 4K video - leave everything at the default settings. When you exclude video from exe the file size of the exe should be much smaller especially if all your show is video. The videos will still be placed in the same Folder as the exe and you will need to send all files for someone else to play. Jill
-
If you are using video then make an MP4 not an exe The size will be much smaller Jill
-
there is no actual limit in PTE, but it depends how powerful your computer is. Keep your images to a small size if possible to help. Jill
-
no need for a long duration, just set the Menu Slide(s) to be 'Wait for Key Press to show next Slide' It will stay on screen until you press the keyboard right arrow key or hit Esc to exit it. Jill

Gary, if all of your trimmed clips are coming from 1 original, you will not see each clip in the file list. The Trim is done within PTE and not saved. By renaming each Slide, they will have different names withing the Slide View & Timeline View. As I said above, you do not need to drag the end of the Slide, just drag & drop from Filelist to the point you want the next clip to start. If you have a 1.5 hour original clip and you add it multiple times to the Timeline, it will still only be the size of the original file. You then Publish to MP4 and the final output will be much smaller. I think you are making things difficult for yourself by trying to trim & save multiple times. Jill
-
No need to scroll to the end, just drop the next slide at the point you want, the end is automatically trimmed. If you are trimming the same original video several times then just drag & drop it again. Simply change the Slide Name in Slide Options & the new name will show on that Clip in both Slide & Timeline view. PTE is not a video editing program, but I still find it quick & easy to edit clips in Timeline. Jill

Gary, then why not do a rough trim first to make the video much smaller, then it will be easier to get an accurate trim. I very rarely use the Trim Function anyway and much prefer to work directly in the timeline. With longer clips (but no where near as long as yours) I right click and select 'Trim Beginning of video' to get a rough point, then fine tune it once the video is shorter. When you Trim in Timeline it automatically positions the pointers in O&A 'Adjust Video' function & also sets the start time. You can adjust the time to get exactly the position you want. Jill
-
just drag the start & end triangles to the position you want. I never look at the Times. Jill
-
It is when the overlapping file is a shorter duration So your file 09 finishes before the file on track 1. I have just tried it & it does seem to reduce the volume on the overlapping file. Jill
-
The red shows that the files are overlapping each other. Not sure why the volume would be lower though. Jill

Music fade in/fade out not working in Home version
jkb replied to MichaelF's topic in General Discussion
Yes and also the fade IN/Out handles on the Timeline are only in Pro. The Studio Version you can use the Fade IN/Out times in Project Options Audio Tab Jill -
No, just select a slide that you want the preview to start from and right click in the mini preview window. Jill
-
No it is not possible. Everything is on one screen. Jill
