Hi xahu34, Thanks for your reply. The computer was built by a local firm and has run without problems for three years. Operating system XP Pro. Recently we had a new disc drive fitted. Since then the computer has sometimes crashed when we have tried to burn a disc. On one of these occasions PTE 5 was open - we lost the contents of the timeline and had to restore back to an earlier date. This restored the timeline but now we have the ghostly triangles. They are three right angle triangles along the top right hand side of the image. Sorry don't know how to send you an actual image as they only appear in PTE and the message says I am not permitted to upload this type of file. Hope this is of some use. kbg
