  1. Dom I full agree with your suggestion all sections have to be separated by default instead of being glued. This suggestion is very important for beginners with PTE (even for others)...the fact that all sections are glued by default leads to several misunderstood problems with non linear animations. Such problems have been raised several times on this forum in different ways. Daniel.
  2. hello nobeefstu, I really appreciate that .pte file takes records of projects name/path, but from my point of view, perhaps I missed something, there is no need to keep records of name/path for .exe files. In fact the exe files should be considered as the successful results of the project, ending the process, the PTE user will take care of such files without needing PTE help. And following this way I full agree with Dom : the project has not been changed even if you create an "output file" whatever it is : exe file/video file/..... And the main reason for that is that you cannot rework an "output file" with PTE; you can create a new one but you cannot modify or rework an existing one. We can assume that PTE users know perfectly well how to manage their folders and files. As i said above, from my point of view there is no need to keep records of name/path for .exe files ( or other "output files") inside .pte file and so my suggestion would be that each time the user wants to create an output file, pte can suggest the name/path of the last .pte file which has been saved, but it is the user freedom to keep it or to change it, and if he changes the name or path of the "output file" there is no need to modify the .pte file. Best regards Daniel
  3. To Peter, Dom and nobeefstu thanks for your reply Dom, I full agree with your comments that was exactly the reason of my demand to Igor. Nobeefstu, when you begin to work on a project, this project has no name except the name by default "project1" given by pte. The normal way to save your project for the first time is to "save as" and to give a specific name and path. This name and path could be registered in .pte file without any inconveniences (even if the user is not aware about that). But if you create an .exe file, the name and the path of the .exe file are suggested by pte to be the same as for the previous .pte file, so if you do not change the name and path there is no need to modify the .pte file and there is no need to prompt the user to save again his project. Daniel.
  4. Hi Igor, the problem still there with v6.0 beta 20 please refer also to my previous post : here Best regards.
  5. Hello Peter, thanks for your reply but I confirm that there is no change in namming proces between step 2 and 4 as reported in my previous post! In both cases the name is suggested by PTE itself; only (and obviously) the extension has changed. Best regards. Daniel
  6. Hello Igor I have checked again several times with the following conditions and results : case 1 : 1)I made a project with v 6.0b15 2)I saved my project by "save as" myslideshowname.pte 3)I created an EXE file (PTE suggest to put it in the same folder with the same name myslideshowname.exe 4)I close the project by clicking on the red cross and then a window pops-up requiring to save the project again even if no modification was made in between 2) and 4) - repeating this sequence the result seems always the same case 2 : 1)I made a project 2)I saved my project by "save as" myslideshowname.pte 3)I created an EXE file (PTE suggest to put it in the same folder with the same name myslideshowname.exe 4)I try to open a new project and then a window pops-up requiring to save the project again even if no modification was made in between 2) and 4) - repeating this sequence the result seems not always the same sometimes window pops-up requiring to save the project again sometimes not.....?? case 3 : 1)I made a project 2)I saved my project 3)I try to open a new project - there is no problem (sorry for the error in my previous mail) I hope it could be usefull for you. Daniel
  7. Thanks Igor for your reply. just for information, in addition to my previous post, the same problem happens if 1)I made a project 2)I saved my project 3)I try to open a new project and then a window pops-up requiring to save the project again even if no modification was made in between 2) and 3) Best regards Daniel.
  8. For Igor and project team... - old remaining issue ...still there with V6.0b15 1)I made a project with v 6.0b15 2)I saved my project 3)I created an EXE file 4)I close the project by clicking on the red cross and then a window pops-up requiring to save the project again even if no modification was made in between 2) and 4) That is not a very important problem but it is disturbing and in certain cases could lead to make errors with files management. Is it very difficult to fix? Best regards Daniel
  9. Hello Henri The 3 D button will appear only at a key point on the time line. If you are not on a key point you cannot see it. Best regards Daniel.
  10. Great as usual!! Just one question Jean-Pierre....how many hours of works for such an outstanding demo! Congratulations to you and Wnsoft Team! Daniel
  11. Yes Igor, In my opinion too that was a very good idea to separate new beta release announcements and discussions about it. Things were clearer and it was easier to check and to follow your project progress. I can guess that the problem Xaver pointed out comes from the fact that several threads were open at the same time for discussions and it was not obvious to know in which we should post. My suggestion should be to keep a dedicated topic for announcements, to collect inside a closed topic all existing discussion about previous releases and to open a dedicated topic for discussion for each new beta release to come. Daniel.
  12. PTE v5.7 beta9 : * Fixed issue with error message on a slide when "Show copyright logo" option turned on and no image choosed for logo This is just an information for Igor and Team. The issue have been fixed for new projects created with V5.7b9, but for old projects in which the "Show copyright logo" box have been checked by error without selecting a logo picture, the problem remains even after importation in v5.7b9. Best regards Daniel.
  13. hello nobeefstu, I confirm you are perfectly right, I have checked at home, that is the only difference even with other projects. I cant say why but it is a fact the "Show Copyright logo" box was checked. After disabling it, everything is OK. Thanks for your help. If Igor wanted to fix this point, I would suggest to replace the check box by a button for a direct selection of the copyright logo Daniel.
  14. Hello nobeefstu, this object is at the right place in the slideshow file, with or without this object the problem remains the same. (Find in the attachments the baie_de_concarneau3.pte file (without the text object) and the jpeg print screen) The problem appears the first time I was working with W7 but I am not sure at all that W7 is responsible for that. You can see (refer to my previous posts) that several other exercices were made (as required by Igor) using exactly the same method but with a positive result whatever the OS, XP or W7. Daniel. baie_de_concarneau3.txt
  15. Thanks Igor for your attention. - by typing a new path manually in text box - with this pte project (baie_de_concarneau2.pte), I tried to change the picture by clicking the small button near the text box and choosing the picture inside the picture in the O&A editor, I tried to change the picture by clicking the button "change the picture" over the viewer in the main window but without success the blue screen error remains. (But I tried after to modify the pte file with my PC / XP but the result was the same). The right path is : E:\Users\user\Videos\panorama_bretagne\panorama_concarneau.jpg You will find the .pte file in the attachment you will find also a jpeg picture which is a print screen showing the blue screen error, if needed I can also provide you with the full saved zip file at your email adress. As you suggested to do I have made several slideshow tests using exactly the same method and everything was OK. with W7 or XP. The only difference I can notice : baie_de_concarneau2.pte was my first slideshow after the installation of PTE on my new PC/W7. Is this information relevant or not for you? I hope that could be helpful to you. baie_de_concarneau2.txt
  16. It seems there is a remaining problem in v5.7 beta 6 when moving a picture file. This problem exists with Windows 7 not with Windows XP. I transfer an old slideshow made with v5.6 and windows XP on a new PC working under Windows 7. I moved also all my files but with different file names. When I open an old pte file (only one picture), a window pops up, as usual, indicating that PTE does not find the picture. OK. I open the O&A editor and in the Properties tab I change the adress of the picture. Everything seems OK, the picture appears normally in the O&A window and all the effects run perfectly well, but when I close the O&A editor, a blue screen appears above the picture inside the viewer with "Image not found:" "Path:" in despite the right picture was found and displayed. If I create an exe file of the slideshow, this blue screen remains above the picture. I made the same exercise with v5.6 +Windows 7, I got the same result. I came back with my PC working with XP. I changed the file name and made the same exercise and everything is OK. Daniel
  17. Hi Igor, Please, could you have a look on this thread : http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9666 In order to sum up - 1) behind ZoneAlarm firewall, more likely depending on ZoneAlarm parameters, clicking on a button with "action on mouse clic/Open a web page" inside a PTE exe file could lead to a PC freezed (crash?). - 2) problems with " action on mouse clic / Open web page or Run app or open file" might be the result of a modification in PTE v5.6, the capital letters of the links are changed in lower case and that leads, in some cases, to 404 error page, or in case of youtube video page : it is not possible to reach the video file. After having checked my config, after having uninstalled PTEv5.6.1 and reinstalled it, the problems remain the same. I confirm that the test file attached to my first post has been created with v5.6.1 and there is no problem to open it. What should I answer to our club member who put the question on how to work with such action on mouse clic. Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi Brian, Thanks to you to share with us what you have found. In fact in order to avoid any problem by using PTE "action on mouse clic" as it is today, you have found a clever way to solve it but you must recognize it is not so obvious for common PTE users. I made several tests by modifying the file test attached in my first post following step by step your instructions but without any success, and again I experienced some PC crashes. What is going wrong? I do not know. I have understood "this had nothing to do with PTE" except that in my case, it happens only running PTE file and only by clicking on a button with such an action. (I confirm that I had no problem at all running your own test file and it works perfectly well !) 1) Please could you be kind enough to correct my own file test and send it us back in order we can see how to apply your instructions. I unlikely miss something important. 2) I can guess that "OK" is the red cross to close the O&A window, is that right? 3) Is that list available on the forum or should we ask it to Igor ? Best regards Daniel. PS: I have also experienced in some cases same problem "404 error" as described by Xaver in his previous post but I cant say if it is a server problem or not.
  19. Hi Brian, Ken, Al, I have made several runs today with Brian's test file and that works perfectly well on my PC without any problem even with or without ZoneAlarm. I got no crash! Brian could you send us your saved file zip in order to understand how you proceed and solve some problem with youtube URL for example? Thanks in advance Daniel.
  20. Hi Brian, Ken, Nobeefstu thanks again for your time 1) Firewalls/ ZoneAlarm...Perhaps my poor english is the cause of misunderstandings, sorry for that, but I have never said that I was running 2 Firewalls at the same time! 2) Concerning use of "Action on mouse clic" nobeefstu answers were clear and useful thanks again to him. I have reported them on our french forum. 3) PC crash with some specific "action on mouse clic" remains an issue for me (and I can guess for others) but Ken don't need to worry any more about that I will survive and my PC too. I understand that at the time being nobody knows the right answer. I do not want to spend more time asking others for a problem which happens only with specific action of PTE. I will not use these specific actions and will advise our club members about some possible difficulties. As you say : wait and see! Daniel.
  21. No Ken not yet! I thought that Igor or someone in his team has a look on the forums threads sometimes to times, am I wrong? Daniel.
  22. Hi Brian I think there are some misunderstandings Who said that I was running two Firewalls on my PC? Not me for sure! Yes, Brian, obviously I did it! I took some times to read your links but sorry as far I have read, I am not concerned. I made regular upgrades when necessary and repeat, I use ZoneAlarm since several years with many softwares without experiencing such a problem. But when I run PTE Exe with "action on mouse clic" I got a PC crash (or freeze if you prefer). That is a fact not an assumption!! And when you said "Its nearly 95% certain that you have a 'System-Conflict' issue on your PC " for me it is clearly your assumption. However I am ready to make some deeper analysis but I regret to say that this "System-Conflict" happens only when running PTE .exe files including some speficic "action on mouse clic". Up to now I have no problem at all running other PTE exe files. I think it is better for PTE future that PTE developpers be advised of that problem and have a look on it. In any case of such a problem, I would prefer, that PTE send me an error message and exit the application rather than to freeze my PC. For software engineer when the PC freezes that wants to say that there is a branch in the algorithme with no return and no information coming and sometimes to times they call that a "bug". Best regards Daniel
  23. Yes Brian it helps. I do not want to "tackle" PTE for nothing otherwise I will not be here loosing your time. Just for your information I use ZoneAlarm since several years and with many softwares without having experienced PC crashes except with these PTE functions. So the meaning of your answer is very clear : These functions of PTE does not work with ZoneAlarm! So we can consider either it is a ZoneAlarm issue, either it is a PTE one. I am not alone to use ZoneAlarm, so we are many people having made the wrong choice. Daniel.
  24. Hi nobeefstu thanks for your help and your time, explanation are clear for me. Daniel
  25. Hi nobeefstu thanks for your help OK, so I have noted that whatever the web page content : application, file or page it is better to use "open web page" for all documents on the web is that right? But that does not solve my main concern. My PC should not crash or (freeze) even if there is an error in the choice of action. I should get an error message or exit the EXe application but not a crash! That seems to be a remaining bug inside PTE. If a new PTE user wants to test this function and get his PC crash I let you imagine how he will react! That is OK for me if the downloading window pops-up. That is the case when it works. Sorry but I do not understand how to proceed, could you explain? 1) If I "save as -web page html only..." which should be the URL? 2) How to save the .htm file with an EXE slideshow? 3) Which link should I write for the "action on mouse clic" Thanks in advance for all your helps and comments. But the more important for me is to avoid that my PC crashes testing PTE functions. Best regards Daniel.
