  1. What is going wrong with actions on mouse click? In the attached exemple there are three slides with a button labelled "Entrez" For each slide the button should have the action listed below (1)"Visages d'hommes" / "Entrez" Button properties =Action on mouse click/ run application or open file => http://www.wnsoft.com/soft/other/setup_mpc.exe (2)"Scènes de rues" / "Entrez" Button properties =Action on mouse click/ open web page => http://www.artsvie.asso.fr/welcome.htm (3)"Les Boutiques" / "Entrez" Button properties =Action on mouse click/run application or open file => > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wXe6dDuGwA Problems 1) Sometimes to times after clicking on a button, I got my PC freezed (no possibility to escape, no possibility to leave the application, no action possible, I must switch off the PC and restart) Is this problem due to browser? firewall? how to avoid it? 2) Sometimes to times I got a 404 error page for (1) or (3) 3) When it works, for (3) I never succeed to open the right youtube video, it opens the youtube web page but not the video page. NB: the links here are just given as an example but are not used for a slideshow. Here is someone who could explain how to avoid PC freezed and to be sure that the action on mouse click will work correctly? Thanks in advance for your help Daniel. Config : dual core Intel T5200, Nvidia Geforce 7600, XP SP2 /PTEv5.6.1, Browser : IE or Mozilla Firefox, Firewall : ZoneAlarm test_menu_v3.zip
  2. Hi Igor just for your record Your video on Youtube : playback is very smooth in full screen (1440x900) HD mode but I waited until the upload be completed before reading FS Amilo Dual core T5200 1,6Ghz 2Go Ram Nvidia GeForce 7600 / XP-SP2 Best regards Daniel
  3. Hi Scorpion, You have done a good work, that is exactly what we would like for the buton fonction, but obviously, as you said without having to use such a clever way! Thanks for this very clear demo Best regards Daniel.
  4. Hi nobeefstu, so whatever the mouse cursor aspect customization, in any case, PTE should react exactly in the same way for Text and Butons, I do not ask for a specific mouse cursor aspect. Daniel
  5. Hi Ken, thanks for your support. I am sorry, I have not found your post on the same subject before writing this one but I understand that we are on the same line. Daniel
  6. Hi nobeefstu, Yes, thanks you for your reply, you are right but it is not the real problem. For a better understanding, I just want to point out that I try to promote PTE in our club, and we try, daily, to explain to our members how to use it. They just want to use it for simple slideshow not to make sophisticated things. The question comes up with menus. And there are several problems with PTE : 1) as explained in my first post, the problem of transition when using "go to slide number x" ...see Xaver post on the subject. I am in favor of his suggestion. 2) problem of mouse cursor over valid link -If you begin to work your "Text" with "properties tab" which is the normal way, and you go after that to "common tab" for linking it with an action, you will miss the possibility to change the color of the text but however and by default you will get the mouse cursor change to the hand which indicates the valid link and that is perfect for everybody. - If you do exactly the same as above but with a "Button" there is nothing at all, the mouse cursor does not change, that is the trap (bug?). So my suggestion for this last point is : PTE should react exactly the same way whatever the object : Text , Button... and so, by default (if there is no change of color) the mouse cursor should be changed to an hand for the Button in the same way as for the Text. I think that should not be very difficult to fix for PTE developpers and that will ease the use of this PTE function for everybody. Best regards Daniel
  7. I support Xaver suggestion too. Best regards Daniel.
  8. SUPERBE! Daniel
  9. Xaver, I am not in favor of that for several reasons 1) there are too many sophisticated traps for beginners like this one inside PTE and we, in our club, must explain exactly as you have done in your previous post (thanks again ) 2) if you consider this Wnsoft forum you can see there is only one way to indicate a valid link whatever the design : text or button, there is no longer change of color for valid link but only the mouse cursor change in hand aspect. And now on, most of web sites are following this way that is a fact. 3) developpers should keep PTE as simple as possible for common users, expert always find the convenient solution for them! Daniel.
  10. Thanks Xaver, yes it works, but that is a pity there is no mention of link colors in the properties tab. But in fact that does not change the real problem. Either a valid link is indicated by changing color of text either it is indicated by changing the mouse cursor aspect but not both! As you can see on the example provided, when menu are made with only Text, the mouse cursor changes as an hand when passing over the text associated with valid link, but with button PTE works in another way that is not acceptable. I suggest that for both text or button the way to indicate a valid link should be exactly the same. That will ease the use of this PTE function for everybody. Best regards Daniel.
  11. Thanks Xaver for your reply but I do not understand your point could you explain. Sorry I had not seen your previous post on the subject and will support your suggestion. Best regards, Daniel
  12. Problem with menu in v561 : 1) The mouse cursor does not change of aspect when passing over a button with a valid link, this seems to be a remaining bug to be fixed asap 2) With a menu, we expect that a clic action on a link will open the slide whose number has been specified in "go to the slide number N". In fact, it opens the "N-1" slide and not the N slide as specified if there is a transition effect associated with the N slide. In case of a link action, the transition effect should be disabled. In the following example the transition effects are disabled for the slides with link action except for the slide "Les boutiques" on which the problem is visible. By clicking on the "Les boutiques" link that will open the "Suite des scenes de rues..."test_menu.zip Best regards Daniel
  13. Sorry Ken but I do not reach your point, that does not explain why the gif format is not allowed for masks. Daniel.
  14. Thanks Dave, I will try on my side but in any case that cannot solve the problem for the masks format. It would be interesting to know why the gif format was not taken into account for masks by PTE developpers. Daniel.
  15. Hello Peter, I would add some more comments to what Lin said about .gif for masks. 1) if you know the name of the gif you can succeed to load the gif as a mask but that does not work each time. Sometimes to times you can get a blue screen error window 2) same thing happens sometimes if you want to load a .gif image as an object even if the gif format is recognised The test can be made for example with JPD Layer_15.gif Is there some explanation? Daniel.
  16. Hi Brian thank you for all interesting information you provided to us, Just for information : in our club, since 2 years, we use a Panasonic PT AX100E (1280x720) with HDMI connexion to PC. We have not noticed any problem with EXE files using PZR functions, even with huge panorama picture. Daniel.
  17. Hello Lin, I just wants to thank you for all your helps, advices, tutos on this forum, you have made a lot work. We hope that you we will be back soon. All our thoughts and best wishes for you and your wife. Daniel.
  18. Hi Brian, Lin, Gerald I full agree with this point of view. Exactly what I wrote in a previous post answering to Igor question concerning Create Menu. In my opinion, PTE market is clearly dedicated to photographic slideshows of best quality. If PTE developpers team wants to target YouTube or Vimeo market they will have to compete with common video production softwares like Studio, Vegas, Magix and others but more likely they will miss the train. Personnaly I did not buy PTE for video production. If I was interested by testing Vimeo or YouTube that was just to know and to use them as a preview for visitors on a website before they decide to download the exe file. But it is not very essential, just a bonus. To be clear, I would prefer that all functions concerning slideshows be improved or cleaned up when necessary rather than to get more or better video outputs. Daniel.
  19. Thanks, Lin for all your explanation. It is clear that Vimeo is not able to convert mp4 1440x1080 as it is but more likely convert it to 1280x720 with image distortion. You might be right concerning 1920 x 1080 conversion into 1280 x720 by Vimeo We will have to take that into account for making the right choice. Best regards Daniel.
  20. Lin, that was my fault, I had to wait a bit longer. When the buffer is full enough there is no more problem during zooming part. Daniel.
  21. Hello Brian I might have missed something as this thread is now very long. I hope I have followed up the discussion but nothing is clear for me and It would be great If someone could make a summary for a better and common understanding. However, I just want to come back on your previous post In my knowledge the suffix letter "i" stands for interleave (compatibility with old CRT TV screen using 1/2 frames) and "p" stands for progressive (compatibility with new LCD screen and digital TV programs) and so whatever the format 4/3 or 16/9 as both exist with CRT or LCD Am I right or wrong? Best regards Daniel. PS : I have also read on this thread several posts concerning frame rate at 60Hz that is true for american standards but european ones are based on 50Hz (as far as I know), that is due to power electricity distribution frequency.
  22. Hi Lin, thanks for the exercise, Ive seen the results and I understand your conclusions however something is puzzling me : 1) it is clear there is a problem with the video format on Vimeo 4/3 converted in 16/9 why? Except this problem the video is quite smooth and the thunder sound is synchronized with the picture. With YouTube I do not succeed yet to get the first part of the video running smooth , several stops during zooming on the eagle, and thunder sound arrives with a delay at the end of the picture. 2) YouTube recommendation for video uploading format is 1280x720 for 16/9 and 640x480 for 4/3. and Vimeo : 640x480 for standard definition 4:3 video, 872x480 for widescreen DV, or 1280x720 for high definition. It is also best to export 1920x1080 or 1440x1080 video as 1280x720 too. So we could think that Vimeo should have been the better choice for 1440 x1080! Things are not yet very clear for me, so I have a couple of questions for you : - In your case where is achieved the format conversion? - Did you leave PTE transfer the video directly to Vimeo and YouTube using the Create Menu for those options or did you create an mp4 file before uploading it to either Vimeo or YouTube? Best regards Daniel
  23. Lin, did you make some tests with 1440 x 1080? It seems that Vimeo will accept this 4/3 format which is compatible in height with HD. Could be interesting to make a comparison only on the video quality with the same video format for both Vimeo and YouTube. Best regards Daniel
  24. Hi Igor, I just found your concern about PTE users about Create Menu. Personnaly, I lead a club of photos and videos lovers. Most of them are retired people who have time enough to build slideshows or family videos. Most of them have already bought either Studio, Vegas, Magix, Adobe... Some of them tried to work with PTE few others have already bought PTE Deluxe. In our point of view all the discussion concerning Create Menu have no impact on new user behaviour. If they bought PTE they knew it is the best for pictures quality and rendering on slideshow with Exe files. So they will find the "Create Exe" button whatever its position within the menu : they bought PTE for that purpose, they will find it out. We explain in our club sessions how to use PTE for video exportations but if you spotlighted too much on these possibilities you will have to compete against Studio, Vegas, Magix, Adobe Premiere or other Photos-Videos software and PTE is not the best ranked in this category today (as far as I know). It is easier to explain and promote the use of PTE for its slideshow quality with EXE files. You have also to consider that with TV HD and PC for family market development, Full HD LCD screens and laptop with HDMI connexion are quite commons nowadays and people will be able to watch their EXE slideshows on their TV screen without DVD support, without needing to convert EXE to xxx. We consider, as more important that PTE be improved - on remaining problems listed on the forum to ease the use for beginners mainly with all O&A functions ; - on some more audio management facilities (level management between background and comments,etc..) ; - on audio/view synchronisation aspects; - some more surprising handsome transition effects.. Just for contribution, Daniel.
  25. Hi Lin thanks you for your analysis. I would like to underline that using timeline for the sound/view synchronization was the only facility offered by PTE. In our club, people consider that PTE is already very poor concerning audio treatment, requiring to use some other software as audacity to prepare sound tracks, the only way we knew to finally adjust sound tracks and view synchronization was to make it by using the adjustment of views position on the timeline. So if it does not work perfectly well with PTE v5.6 that compromises seriously the ability of this new version as a slideshow builder. In our point of view, as PTE users, this feature is even more important than video exportation. We hope that Igor's team will be able to solve this issue asap and we wish them good luck! Daniel. Daniel, the problem turns out to be a defective MP3 file. When converted to WAV it works perfectly. Not a problem at all with 5.6.... Lin
