  1. Jan Managed to view your show on our iPad. That is a nice way to put together a show like that, it worked extremely well
  2. I am not at home right now and using an old laptop, so perhaps the clue is there. I have just looked at what version we are using on this old Vista laptop we use for travelling and it's IE 9. I don't doubt that if we upgraded it would be fine. I think it's Internet Explorer where the issues are
  3. Jacek Its not good practice to send someone a large file via email, even when you can. It ties up the email for some for so long you can think something is wrong and re-boot. The options mentions above are free services that allow you to first upload a zipped copy of your slide show to their cloud storage. Generally it takes quite some time for a big file to upload, bit it will work OK in the background. Once uploaded you can generate an address of where your file is located and send just that link to people in an email. They can click that link and download your slide show at their convenience. www.mediafire.com is one and www.dropbox.com is another.
  4. For what its worth all I can see is the black holding area on both posts, no video.
  5. Surely that is because the window applies both the options you select in the main tab and those in the trantion tab of the Slide Options. If you had something else set, then you're effectively replacing those settings. If you want the background for a number of slides, you may find the Project Options is the way to go
  6. Hard to argue with indepth logic like that. Was it a leap year ? This will be very hard for you to accept, but you did something WRONG with the paths to the slide shows. Think of the web. One letter wrong in the address, or a comma typed instead of a dot and the computer cannot find the site. Its looking in the wrong place. When you build menus, the address string is the vital part, but if we browse for them, we often get an address string like D/slideshows/2014/mystuff/the jackass.exe All you need in the string is "the jackass.exe" if you put everything in one folder.
  7. Listen to what Peter is saying. He's right and if he wasn't how could I make a sample of a menu and put it on a disk or in a download for anyone else in the world to run. It works fine and the proble here is your paths are wrong
  8. I don't think it has been addressed and at one time it would do the same with music if you went outside PTE (prior to V8) and saved a sound file over the original. I started to get into the habit of changing names, or closing PTE and reopening it. You have to force it to refresh, which can be a nuisance, but probably more confusing for a new user
  9. Don't forget smart technology. Last tme I had a drive failing, the PC told me before it failed. On that occasion it wasn't the C drive, but one of the other storage drives, but I was impressed with how the S.M.A.R.T. techie stuff worked
  10. Peter. Its usually me who puts my foot in it and you who is the diplomat. I restrained my last post and then you said exactly what was on my mind
  11. Peter Sorry, I didn't word my post very well. I didn't mean you personally steered me towards Power2Go, but someone on this forum did
  12. Well, all I can say is good luck trying, but it sounds a bit odd to me. Surely more of the 4:3 versions will be below peoples heads than a 16:9 Raise your screen ?
  13. Peter. I don't really have experience of using many of these programs, I doubt many do. I have used Power2go for quite some time and it does all I need. I think I started using it after I made a similar request to the one you made, probably on this forum. The reason I asked was I was fed up with CD burning software that wanted to take over and offer me loads of silly functions when all I want is a simple, but quick burn tool.
  14. From memory my projectors have a setting that allows the user to move the image in relation to the 4:3 screen and I have had to do this at times when the projector loses a white line around the images on one side. So, the setting allows you to shunt the image left, right, up and down, but I am not sure if it gives the amount of movement your looking for. Never needed to try it to be honest Can I ask why you need this options as it may offer members the ability to suggest alternatives
  15. The problem with your approach is that the C: drive contains not only the operating system, but also the registry and other secret areas that are accessed only by the OS, and these areas, especially the registry, contain information necessary for your programs to run, like product keys, validating data, file associations, etc. without which your programs are toast. So, a new drive and a new installation of windows will not allow you to run existing programs, you will have to install and validate or activate every program you use, in other words a clean install, including all the windows updates to date, dozens of them. There's no way you can reinstall windows while retaining existing programs. Of couse not, that is pretty obvious and I hope I never suggested that was the case, but here's the thing. I seem to have managed without all these new fangled gadgets since I started using Photoshop 4, not CS4 so what are talking here....20+ years I have had a few formats and installations of Windows, but as for updates. I don't have to do anything, I just leave the PC on and it does it all for me. I just have this view, that many photographers spend more of their time, messing with their tools and less on the reason for having to the tool in the first place. Yes, I know all this is a personal choice, but to listen to some, you would think the world will come to an end if you don't have them and it doesn't hurt to balance the view, by saying. That I have managed 20 years OK, so why worry now?
  16. Go to File > Create Back-up to Zip That will take everything that has been used in the slide show and can be sent over the internet. E-mail is probably not the best option, use dropbox or Mediafire. The recipient can unzip that file and then launch the project file that will be a part of the files. The third party can have your entire show open in PTE just as you did to create it. Back -up to Zip will not send other images or sound files that you may have in the same folder but not used in your slide show.
  17. I just tried a couple of old shows and it seems to retain the association for me too
  18. Many years ago in my film days I had a dabble with black and white infra-red photography, but was never really able to do it enough to become as proficient as I would have liked. The cost was the main thing and the availability of the film. I had another go in the digital age using a deep red filter to block visible light, but there are all sorts of practical issues with that. I quickly kicked that into touch as being just too inconvenient. You can't see through the lens with the filter in place and exposures are up around 20 seconds or longer so a tripod is essential and any movement kills the image. In 20 seconds there is a lot of movement in leaves of trees for example. A change in camera equipment for the other half recently left me with a Canon 5D spare and I have had that converted to be able to shoot Infra-Red images. The company I chose to do the work is based in Melbourne Australia called Camera Clinic, but there are places in the UK too. One of those is Protech Photographic which was used by a good friend of mine to convert his camera. In Australia I used Camera Clinic because they were great on the phone and were able to answer all my questions and concerns before I committed myself to the conversion, but committed I am and the camera has just been delivered back to me. Just in time for a trip down to Sydney so plenty of time to put it through its paces. We have already seen one very nice Audio Visual using Infra-Red and I hope I can add to that in the coming months. A converted camera has the Infra-Red filter removed from the sensor amongst other things so it can be used point and shoot. From what I have experienced from the IR files other people have sent me, they are not any more difficult to post process than standard images.
  19. Well, there is a real problem, most Camera club committees can't shake themselves away from 1024*768 in case it brings on the end of their world as they know it, poor soles By the time they reach this level we will be in the middle of the next ice age Remember those on this forum not too far away kicking and screaming that they would never let go of 1024*768
  20. Go to Help in the main screen of PicturesToExe and select Enter new license key
  21. Yes, but experience is a great thing and I have never experienced any major problems that had me wishing I had some super software to protect me, so I take a different approach. Do I have more problems than others? no, do I spend ages learning software that adds zero to my hobby? No. Do I spend my time producing 50 times the images that most do? yes See where I going with this. Forgive me for being a little sceptical, but sometimes I think the attraction for many is the technicalities of the computer. The reason for having it takes a back seat perhaps
  22. Still sounds complicated and stressful to me and the only time you know if it works is when the disaster has happened. I appreciate the explanation, but I just keep the C drive free of anything essential and if it is essential it would be on two drives at least. Then if the C drive dies I just put in a new drive and install a new version of windows and take the opportunity for a tidy up. I think most people would take their computer to the local repair man to be honest.
  23. For anyone interested we have just posted our latest newsletter and video for May 2014
  24. What about this SMART technology. Last time I had a drive fail, it told me it was about to fail before it did. I backed up everything and sure enough it did, but that wasn't a C drive With something like Acronis, if I recall correctly the mirror has to be extracted so how does that happen if your C drive has just failed. If the drive was right ready to use then my idea of making your own copies would work, but it doesn't. I assume Acronis includes all the boot software to take you through the repair
  25. I have pretty good discipline when it comes to backing things up and these days I rely more and more on Mediafire desktop synchronization. Usually, but the time I start having OS issues I usually feel its time for a clean sweep and a fresh install of what I want anyway. Usually takes a couple of days to do it though, even if your organised I have never used any of those ways to protect the C drive. There is just too much to learn sometimes
