  1. Great idea. I must learn how to record now. PC World here I come for a good mic!!! Andrew
  2. Funny thing that Eric, the person I have in mind for a trial VO comes from Whitby......Go Figure
  3. A couple of nights ago I listened to and watched a show which had an extensive voice over giving most of the show its soundtrack. Music made up the rest. Obviously a lot of work had gone into it and it was very well done, including some poetry and explanation. Now here's the point where I think [and this is only my opinion] voice overs can come unstuck. The gentleman who recorded the VO had a seriously thick Scottish accent which did nothing for the presentation!!! Now I know we all sound a bit different in a recording,[just listen to some of the tutorials on youtube!!! Damn!] but us 'Jocks' have this curse where we can sound perfectly normal indeed elequent to your face, but on a recording we sound awful. Indeed I myself speak with a crystal clarity in RL but on a recording my very strong Aberdeen [my home area] accent flies to the fore and ruins the effect. So my question is one of self ajudication, would you do a voice over yourself or would you ask someone to record the track for you? Me...I'd ask someone simply because on a recording my accent is way to heavy. Andrew.
  4. Hi Don and welcome. That was great. I love the symetry of the images and the fact that you used an outline round them to keep them in bounds. Others have mentioned the tech side of things so here's my take on it: Very imaginative story well told. I think tho the text would have been better scrolled along the bottom of the appropiate image rather than take me out of the company. The captions were imaginative and I do like the font. Just one techie point.. If you have a border [stroke] round your images it should be the outer limit of any zoom. That is not having the border go off screen as one image did. [this is of-course only my opinion] All things considered superb. Dont you just love Jack Russell's. I had one for 19 years and he passed away last year. Andrew
  5. Nice one Davy.
  6. Thank you for the detailed answers. I'm really gonna have to getto this. I'm printing them out now. Where are my headache pills!!!
  7. Oh Dear! Thats very complex.
  8. Here I go again, with another tough question...sorry. Is there a way to have an .exe file play from a web page? That is to have some means of clicking on a button or icon perhaps that would activate and play the show. I know I would have to upload the .exe file to my web space and thats fine, I have plenty of space and bandwidth allowance. Is this possible from a P2E file? [This would be the icing on the cake for me] Andrew
  9. Loved it. There are some wee kiddies there on some big horses. All credit to them for getting over the jumps too. Glad to see there were adults placed at regular points. Nice one. Andrew
  10. Roslyn Chapel is one of my very favourite days out. I just love the place. In 2008 however photography was banned in the chapel due to a number of accidents. Photographer's reviewing their screens rather than looking where they were going!!! There is a disc you can now buy with 70 HD images, but these remain copyrighted, and 70 simply isnt enough for Roslyn. Photography outside the chapel is of-course unrestricted. In this 'show ' I have applied the lessons and movements I've been picking your brains for over the last week, so there are some 'Bells and Whistles '. I would recommend a visit to Roslyn to all who can get to it. 11. Tom will the Bitmap format preserve the transparancy of the outer edge? Andrew
  12. Hi Peter, I'm read up on that this morning and my head hurts. However I seem to have found my answer by accident or design, I dont know. I've said it before and I'll say it again " You guys are genius's " I've attached an example of the thing I was trying to do. I think the outer border of the BG is a little strong [5px stroke] so I'll do a new one of that, but basically this is what I wanted. I must stop calling resolution dpi!!! Andrew example.zip
  13. Thank you all for the very educational advice. So many factors affect the final outcome that its nearly impossible to be aware of them all. My final intention was a simple [turned out to be anything but] image with rounded edges moving over/and out of the way, to reveal an image below also with rounded edges [an effect I quite like] Part of the problem was that I wasnt setting the correct dpi for the 'parent' transparent .png and I was not resizing the finished article properly. However I have had several goes at it and it seems to work very well indeed. Also the resizing and proper compression of the file make for a much more manageable final file [from 4.6 meg to 800k] Now thats success. Thank you all. I wonder what daft question I can ask next... Andrew
  14. OK I've got it. By jove I've got it. Having created the rounded corner image I had to put them on a transparent BG to get the required effect. This had to be a .png file to preserve the transparancy. OK so far. However I never noticed that when creating the .png file [file>new>] the resolution was set at 400dpi this with a big file to begin with created...well a humungus file. So the solution is to create the new .png file at say 75dpi and then paste the rounded image into it and resize to a more manageable file both dimention wize and meg size. I'm so sorry I didnt explain myself suffeciently to begin with, but eventually you all managed to get me to a solution, for which I am very grateful. You all have the patience of saints.. Andrew
  15. Hi all, First let me say how much I appreciate your patience with me and this question. I suppose simply put I should have asked "How do I keep the transparency" The image would be moving on the screen - yes but I was hoping to be able to have all the slides the exact same size [my mind still thinks like an old soldier] and thus not have the black edges covering up any part of the image below /behind as it changes. There is an example of this in the 3D transitions. Photoshop can create the rounded edges with no problem and then they can be imported into a png file to preserve the outer transparent edges. All other programmes seem to flatten the image which then 'colours' the transparent area outside the 'stroke/border' A weighty issue indeed this one. Andrew
  16. Well this is getting complex. I now realize how poorly I explain things, so will try to do better. This is what I'm trying to do: The example image has a rounded stroke [border] which I want to retain. The area outside the border [the red stroke] is transparent and I need it to remain so in order that when it moves around the screen the area outside the border doesnt have a colour [in this case black] which will overlap any other image, thus showing the outside colour as it passes over/round it. The whole point of this is to retain the rounded corners of the image rather than just the standard square corners. So in summary the area outside the red border [in this case black being a .jpg] would normally be transparent in a .png file. I would like to retain that transparency, but have a manageable sized file at the same time. Thats maybe a request to far tho!!!! Andrew
  17. Ok here goes. I must try to explain myself better. I want to reduce the ' megabyte ' size of the png. Aslo preserve the outer transparancy of the image. That is the area around the image which has no colour content. Ken I tried the online editors and they saved it with just a small reduction in file size. Brian, I downloaded the programme you suggested and had a go with it, but I cant see how to preserve the transparancy of that outer edge, and it's important. Any more help! Lin, I'll try to do better in how I explain the problems. I do thank you for taking the trouble to assist. Kindest regards Andrew
  18. HMMMM....Gif's dont seem to want to go into the slide list.....
  19. Hi Ken, Yes I can do all that, but the problem lies in the size. I want to make it smaller. Is it advisable to save a a .gif to get the size down? Andrew
  20. Is there a way to reduce the file size of a png file? I have one that I've managed to alter to what I want and its 4.3meg in size. Is there any way to reduce this without loosing the transparancy of the outside area? Andrew
  21. Thats a monster. What a task just to move it around. Andrew
  22. Nice one colin. One thing I would have liked tho, maybe a small caption to tell me who the 'Royalty' were in the tombs in the small chapel. That aside...excellent. A stately and superb edifice indeed. Andrew
  23. Glad we dont get snow like that!!! Excellent. Andrew
  24. Thanks for the kind comments guys. I think I forgot to tick the control thingy. I'll do that in future. [Another page [201] started on my things to remember book] Andrew
  25. Thank you all for the kind and positive comments. I think I now have the way I want to go, ie: full screen with just a 2 px border and any motion etc can be done inside that area. Bill I'm sorry it wont work for you, I really dont know why, but I'll try again in my next one. Andrew
