An answer to a pevious question prompted me to check which ver. of PTE7 I was using. As my ver only referred to PTE7 I downloaded ver7.0.6 There is no ref to this change does the 7.0.6 numeration not appear or has my download not loaded properly. Snapcam

Yes I'm using v7 but I can't locate the button you mention.

Thanks guys I must have gone to sleep, I knew that Here's another for you. Why does my slide duration time in the project options or customise box seem to bear no relation to the timeline. Some selected slides appear in what seems like a random timing. I was trying to extend the start of a sequence but the times dont seem to match.

I have been asked to convert my exe. seguence to mpeg format. How do I do this.

Hello Maureen As usual superb photography and beautiful capture of the light. I have been in Venice ,but in mid summer and the light is nowhere as subtle as you have managed here. Snapcam

Reading these posts I could not resist having a look at 'Drawing the Light' suggested by Eric as a favourite particularly when he mentioned the controversy it produced. I have just finished reading the FOUR pages of posts relating to it and Boy! am I sorry I missed that one. I was almost tempted to make a comment on the sequence

Sorry if I offended Eric, unintentional Back to the subject,I was unaware of ANY discount scheme. I can fully understand Igor's concern. I have always felt that we are very fortunate in the programme we use and the producers of it. We have had years of updates on our original Licence key, THAT IS THE TRUE DISCOUNT we all receive, and it is unfair to pressure Wnsoft beyond that. Snapcam

PTE menu with Proshow Producer sequences
snapcam replied to Cedric Dawnhawk's topic in General Discussion
AH! I am not alone, I didn't find a complete resolution to the problem and ran the festival with the bar flashing in any show not made on PTE ver7. Sequences made in ver7 and opened using run slideshow opened clean. Any others HAD to be opened open file or application. The programme would not allow run slideshow to be used. Proshow sequences opened flashing the bar but would open cleanly on earlier versions of PTE. this depended though on how the sequence had been produced in Proshow. Snapcam -
I trust that's the Automobile Assoc.(AA) Snapcam

Before I started this thread I was considering a moan that people have disappeared from the forum and seldom reply then what do I find, all you guys (and Maureen ) rushing to my aid. Many thanks for all the contributions. I am now going to sit down and consider all the points made and advice given. I will try and post a considered reply later. Thanks again Snapcam

This is a question for the computer buffs out there. I am considering the purchase of a new laptop computer for the production and projection of Audio Visual sequences produced mostly using PTE. Some folk insist on Proshow but enough said on that. We have just had our annual A.V. festival and I was responsible for the projection of the programmes.I was using a newly purchased laptop, not mine, recently aquired by the governing body of the festival. We had been assured that the graphics were of a high specification. I don't know the spec of the graphics but there was 6gig memory and Win7 operating system. The first problem was Win 7. would not cleanly open sequences using earlier PTE vers than PTE7. I then found that the computer struggled with some of the longer transitions. Although most sequences showed fine some showed a slight shimmer on trasitions. These problems are I think down to the computer being used so my question is what is recommended if one is buying new with A.V. in mind. I know seperate graphics are preferred to integrated but beyond that what should we look for in the laptop. Snapcam

Hi Guys On the money again Peter. I am using Win.7 and PTE7.and using 'open application or file'.All file coming from the same folder Now if I use 'open slideshow and return' the ver7 sequences open fine. all others I have to use 'application or file' There are also a few 'Proshow'in the list which are a pain at the best of times. Many thanks to you both for your help. Snapcam

I am setting up a page (exe) in ver7 with buttons that open exe files to show sequences. The sequence does not open cleanly i.e. straight to the sequences but flicks through the source file where the sequence exe files are drawn from. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is. Snapcam

Hi Maureen Absolutly beautiful images. Particularly the urban shots with the stunning colour contrasts, no not paticularly the urban becuse that would suggest the other to be in some way inferior. All the images were a delight. If I can be a little bold and ask, was a tripod used to achieve such sharpness, was there any colour saturation introduced or is it just the very clear air. Snapcam

Hello Geoff You have produced some beautiful images of the river and I am in the 'do like' camp. It is about what you are portraying. If it is a documentary of the river then perhaps slow shutter speeds are not appropriate and then 'pictures' rather than 'image' may be better.I would have liked to see the images taken earlier in the autumn when there is a mixture of leaf fall colour. These type of pics are brightened by some greens and yellows among the browns. You will now tell me it was early autumn and only beech leaves fall there On the sequence I feel there are some very similar images being used. You have so many really lovely shots would it be possible to remove some of the images and lengthen the dissolves between others then the viewer can flow along with the water. Your music would still suit that treatment. Still enjoyed it though. Snapcam

Enjoyed the mood created by the images and music. Excellant voices. I would love to see it again without the text and with the voices reciting as now but over very slow dissolves. Just a thought. Snapcam

Thanks to those who made comments both here and directly by e.mail , Ken and Paulo. Can I take a little time to explain the purpose of the sequence and in the process perhaps give a pointer to those new to A.V. The sequence was designed around the F1 British Grand Prix weekend. This means it is not primarily about the event i.e. the race, itself. It should convey the excitement and bustle we experienced at this terrific event. First time at F1 having followed it for 20yrs on t.v. To this end there are a lot of shots covering crowd activity because this is what we experienced, it is important to show crowd interaction with the Air Display and the Drivers parade or the buying frenzy at the merchandising stalls. The F1 race itself, lasting only 1.5/2 hours from the whole weekend is observed from a fixed seat often as in my case behide safety wire which severely restricts what useable shots we get. The rest is filled out using supporting races or practice/qualifying laps when we have the freedom to move about the course. The result I hope gives the audience a feeling of what it is like to be there ( thanks Rick ;)and conveys what gave us such pleasure. This takes it beyond a simple motor event slide show and hopefully can be enjoyed by people who would have no interest in motor sport. I hope it will be seen as a balanced sequence that dare I say IT has a begining a middle and an e.............. Looking forward to any further comments

Its been a while since I put anything up so here is a sequence I made 2010 that I still enjoy watching. 'Silverstone 2010' www.beechbrook.com/pte/

Quite right too wouldn't we all, You keep on doing what pleases you. I really did enjoy your show dispite my comment Snapcam

I was enthralled by the whole thing and the animation is wonderful. The music just carries you away. I was delighting in the images and it even had an ending which is sometimes forgotten. I was disappointed when I went back to reread your intro to find they were internet images. How much more satisfying if they were your own.But congratulations on the production. Snapcam

Hello Peter Had a look at your 321 sequence and the ingredients of a very pleasant A.V are there. If you don't mind I might suggest a few pointers. It is important to retain your audience's attention and this is done by varying the dissolves making some long and some snappy also fading perhaps from a long shot into close up all keep the viewer interested. Sometimes a constant pace of dissolve just does not do this. The mixing of formats should also be avoided as it tends to jar as the sequence progresses. You have attempted the very difficult exercise of providing a voiceover and I admire you for doing so .It certainly adds to a sequence. You will get it better with practice. Microphone use takes practice. Finally, for me personally I would not use the yellow background. It suggests daffodils but tends to distract from the images. Try it again with black. But at the end of the day its your show and if you want yellow so be it. I hope you don't find my comments too critical they are meant to encourage. Snapcam

The original sequence was built on ver.6 and I am working on ver.6.5. The sound fx was added to an individual slide using customise. I removed the sound fx and it was gone but found the sound track stopped. I had not unclicked the 'Play new background music file'. I have an exe. that works fine but I did have a ver that had the problem. So it may be a problem I caused at a later date. I think it was a case of sloppy working on my part but there was no indication to me that the slide had been customised and I found the problem when I realised the only thing I had not removed was the slide. Snapcam

Problem solved, There was a sound file customised on a particular slide which I was unaware of. When the sequence got to that point it played the customised file and stopped the sound track. Only happened on preview.Cleared the file and the problem disappeared. Snapcam

Hello Peter It is a mixed down track saved as MP3 Bit rare 256kbps. It was made some time ago and I don't have the original session saved so thats really all I can tell you. It's the fact that it plays normally on the other playbacks that I don't understand. I have actually used this before on a sequence and I was editing the images so the soundtrack should be unaffected. Sorry I know thats not much help to you. Good to hear from you again. Snapcam
