Visual indication of wait for operator action
aplman replied to aplman's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
With my Project Option suggestioj, it would need only a tiny change to each PTE file, not the enormous task of finding each offending slide and addding an object. Ken T. -
Visual indication of wait for operator action

Interesting question Rosy!, and not easy to answer. I need to submit a problem report about confusion betaeen 10.0 and 10.5. Might not get around to that for a day or two. Ken T. -
Visual indication of wait for operator action

My travel shows geenerally use exe files, and run smoothly without my intervantion. At times, however, there is a slide which is set to wait for a keywtroke before going on to the next slide. As an aging presenter, I don't always realise what is going on (or NOT going on!). If I had foreseen the challenges of age, I might have included a visual clue in the relevant slides. To retro-fit this idea to dozens of shows, I would be facing a mountainous task. (Sadly, I am no longer able to climb mountains). May I suggest two solutions? (a) a Project Option to trigger a visual clue when waiting for a keywtroke or (b) an object type, available in O&A, to serve the same purpose. Do i have a seconder? Ken T. -
Hi Barry 16:9 was set in Program Options. I have two suspects; three if I count myself. Most of the pics in this new show are 4:3 images from a friend's iPhone, shot in 4:3. I should have prevented that! Some of my O&A fiddling has involved multi-line keyframe display, from multiple objects. Are there known problems in that area? I appreciate your interest, thanks Barry. Using PTE AV Studio 10.0.14, I have a problem. In Objects and Animation, one slide at a time, I adjust the position and size of the main image, until it looks right on the O&A screen, with no black borders around the edges. After closing O&A, I then Preview From Current Location, in full screen. The slide now has those dreaded black borders left and right. Am I doing something wrong? How can I get the O&A image work area to be in tune with the size and shape of my show? Thanks Ken T.

Thank you Jill, your comment gives me encouragement. I have seen refereces to PTE 11 in th forum occasionally. Has this matter been covered by Igor anywhere? Ken T.

Thank you Jill for the suggestion. However, having to do anything one slide at time, in this tech age, always leaves me wondering why the developer did not provide for batch or multiple cases. Ken T. Thank you DG. I did not know of those styles. I have always been of the view that the implementation of STYLES is abominable, so have never used them except when starting a new project. Ken T.

Is the choice of Fit Modes (Fit or Cover) available only under Project Options/Defaults? How might I make that decision on a slide by slide basis? These days, I normally make the choice when bringing a batch of images into the Slide List. Hovever, I now need to rework some older projects, in which I have messed up my choices and animations. I feel I need to start by setting many or most of my main pictures to a FitMode of Fit. Project Options - Defaults allows me to "Apply to All Slides", but not to "Apply to Selected Slides". How might I achieve this reasonably painlessly? Thanks to you all ... Ken T.

Sometimes in my travel presentations, I wish I could reduce the volume of the background music, to anable my hard-of-hearing audience members to concentrate on my carefully produced mellifluous narration. I appreciate the many advantages offered by exe shows. To be able to adjust volume by track while showing would be another important step ahaed of the competition.

Transparent to selection - run-time or design time?
aplman replied to aplman's topic in Suggestions for Next Versions
Thank you jt49. It seems we are of one mind on the main point. Your suggstied workaround ("Ignore objects not selected") appealed immediately, but now I cannot find where it is offered. O&A? Project Options? Slide Options? Preferences? Further guidance would be appreciated. -
In a current project, I have numerous slides in which most of the objects need to be Transparent to Selection at runtime, so that my show can respond to a click anywhere in a containing object. If I subsequently want to make design changes, I have to un-tick all the relevant objects. This can be quite annoying. Might it be possible to have an option to allow the program to ignore the Transparent to Selection attribute while in O&A mode?

Thank you Igor. I am sorry to have mis-led you. It appears I have lost some of my trouble-shooting skills! It seems I was suffering from a case of cnfused or confllicting attributes, which included having a default transition duration of 1 second, and a single slide with duration less than 0.1 second. I suppose I was unknowingly breaking some rule.

I thought I was going mad, losing some of my computer skills, most of my love of PTE, and ALL of my patience. Wrestling with a dozen groups of similar projects, I could not work out why some worked and others misbehaved. It appears that the offender was a small project with only text objects on blank slidies . Inserting a totally unwanted irrelevant image gave relief. Is there a rule that a project MUST contain a slide with an image? If so, why??? Was it so in previous versions? I trust a fix will be forthcoming. Ken Travers, Bowral, Australia. I have never been happy with slide styles. I soon found that applying a style to a slide rubed out my previus creative work on the slide. I hoped that eventually there would be a complete redesign of styles. Is this a good time to suggest that object styles should be considered? Hopefully that would allow creative work on an object of any kind (e.g. frame, image, text) to be independentent of other elements of a slide. I see huge advantages for many users. Igor, what do you think? Ken T.

Action on mouse click - Go to time [SOLVED]

Agreed. I would use that. Ken T. -
Sometimes in my travel presentations, I wish I could reduce the volume of the background music, to anable my elderly hard-of-hearing audience members to concentrate on my mellifluous narration. In an exe show, Is there any way to achieve volume adjustment by track while showing? Ideas welcome, thank you. Ken T.

SLIDE STYLES seem to have been embraced by PTE members, biut also to have generated many questions. I have found slide styles useful only in the early stages of developing a show. I have not quite recovered from the shock of having a SLIDE STYLE wipe out my carefully constructed animation of elements of a slide. I suggest OBJECT STYLES would be a useful expansion of our toolkit. Di I really need to expand on this suggestion? Fingers crossed ... Ken T.

Thank you Jill. I fear I asked thje wrong question - in my haste. Too much going on, moving house. I should put my show creation on hold until I get settled in my new abode. However, perhaps you may help me with one matter of concern. In the Timeline, how can I select multiple consecutive audio clips (In a single track)? Click-shift click does not seem to work. I am working with PTE 9, due to lack of time to adjust my habits to PTE AV Studio. Thanks Jill, Best Wishes to you.

Advice needed please, if I may. Suppose I have arranged all my slides in the desired sequence using the Slide List. Suppse I have then similarly sqquenced all my audio files in Project Options. Now I need to attach the audio files (most of them) to specific slides, usually with offset zero. However, I find at this atage that many of the audio files need to be edited - mostly to trim or remove uneanted bits. is there an easy way to update the audio files in the PTE project? Regards and many thanks. Ken T.

I suggest split your text into two objects, then set the desired size of each object. Ken.

Using PTE Version 9, I have created a User Style that need just a single inage. Now I want to apply it to 20 slides, consecutive in the Slide List. I sel;ect the 20 slides and click on the Slide Style button. PTE now tells me the Style needs 20 slides and I have 20 slides selected. Apart from that quirky matter, it seems to do just what I want - apply the style to each slide individually. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it simply a bug? Ken T.

Thank you Dave, both for your previous post with the link, and for this reminder. I can access the Version 9 help easily enough, but I would like to go straight to it when I am using PTE Version 9. Ken T.

I have both versions 9 and 10 installed, and I really do want to use both for the time being. At the moment, working in Version 9, when I click on Help/Online User Guide, I get the Guide for Vesion 10 . What can I do to remedy that? Ken T.

I have raised too many issues in this one thread. My apologies - I shall start a new thread for each issue that still concerns me. Ken T.

I confess I do not understand the reason for that question, nor the smile ... bu I do thank you for the challenge. I think this forum is teaching me stuff all the time, but the simple answer might be that my brain switched off when I turned 80! Is there an amusing name for that phenomenon? A person not ever using styles would not have encountered the difficulties I have experienced and sought advice on. If it helps this discussion, I shall explain that I have found styles useful at the start of each new project, simply to give each main object image a few keypoints, to reduce the work involved in animating each slide. Sincere thanks to those who are still following this thread. May you enjoy other pursuits over the festive season. Ken T.
