Geoff, It sounds to me as though you may have some corruption in the Windows Registry. I would be inclined to uninstall all versions of PTE, then run a Registry cleaner program, then re-install PTE. regards, Peter

Gary, See my replies, embedded in the text above. If you are cropping most images, why not crop all to the same size or post-process the cropped images through a batch resize? It is so much easier to work with all your images at the same size. Peter

Manipulating sound files and diagnosing sound problems is a whole new learning curve for most folks. And that curve is both long and steep. Successful diagnosis may be facilitated by being able to see the waveform of your sound file as a professional sound engineer would see it, with the ability to choose different axis scales (relative loudness, actual dB, frequency spectrum and so on). Based on the limited detail in the information you have provided, my suspicions currently are that you are hearing the difference between two radically different playback mediums. Answers to the questions I have asked in my annotations to your original post (hopefully visible in red italic) will help to eliminate some factors. regards, Peter

Gary, With my suggested solution (see post #6) you wouldn't need to create any Mask at all. You would be using PTE's in-built rectangular mask. All you would need to do would be to adjust its parameters to give you as sharp an edge as you wanted. Sure, you would have to work each slide individually, but that is where PTE's greatest feature lies - it forces nothing on the user. Instead, it leaves the decisions entirely to the user - putting all the creativity where it belongs: in our hands! One approach using my suggested technique would be to: create your first slide by using a blank slide. Add as an independent object a Mask Container, using the Rectangular Mask, with the mask's parameters set to your liking. Zoom the mask (rectangle) to the size that you want. Add the first real image inside the Mask Container. Set your zooms and pans on that real image and make sure it is set as the "Main image". Now, from the Slide List, use CTRL+C/CTRL+V to copy and paste the slide. Select the second slide and use Change Main Image to drop in your next real image. Repeat the Paste, do the Change Main Image and adjust its Zoom and Pan.. For your Portrait images simply rotate the Mask Container through 90 degrees and contra-rotate your Main Image. Hint: Once you get a correctly set Landscape version, add a blank slide at the end of your sequence and copy and paste this correct Landscape slide after it. When you get your first Portrait image set to your liking, copy and paste that after the blank slide as well. Now you have a couple of "master" slides that you can copy and paste whereever whenever while you are working on that project. It isn't a "one click" solution, I admit. But only a professional photographer NEEDS a one-click solution. For a hobbyist like myself, the enjoyment comes from working through the creative process - not from the end-result. Peter

Why not use a Rectangle Mask in a Mask Container on every slide and place your image inside the Mask Container? You can adjust the Mask to give Portrait or Landscape as required. Peter

I would particularly stress the need to ensure that your video card drivers and your audio card drivers are up to date. I recently bought a new system and experienced problems similar to yours: intermittent drop out of the vision whilst the sound continued. Downloading and installing the latest video and audio card drivers from the card manufacturer's own websites solved my problems. regards, Peter

Mick, The file that you posted on Mediafire has a period/full stop (.) part way through the filename and then a second one immediately before the file extension. If that extra period is present in the filename that you are burning to DVD, I think that could very well be your problem. regards, Peter

Mick, I've now downloaded and studied your sequence and can see nothing unusual in the image elements. The only observation I can make on that aspect is that you have some images where your "Main image" has not been declared. These show "Blank" as their file name in the Slide List in Slides view. I don't think it will be the cause of your problem but I suggest you tidy that loose end up; just in case. As I watched the sequence run I felt that some attention to a couple of points would possibly improve it still further. On those occasions where you are dissolving one captioned painting into another, consider bringing up the second painting without a caption and then bringing up its caption. This will eliminate the jumbling of the two captions, which I found visually very distracting. Also, consider setting your extracts of the wood carving on a background of a complimentary colour, possibly a gradient between two of the different wood colours. Maybe apply a very gentle sandstone texture to that background, too. Now when you zoom within your masks, I think you will get a much more appealing visual effect. Just a couple of thoughts for you to mull over once you get the DVD problem solved. And while I've been keying that last paragraph a thought has struck me. Are all of your sound files of identical characteristics? For example, are they all WAV files at 44.1kHz or all MP3s at 256kbps? If you have assembled sound files with mixed characteristics that have used different audio codecs, that might possibly be the cause of the problem. Just a wild guess, really! regards, Peter

Dave's advice should solve your problem because that is how I work. There is always the possibility that a right-click will drop the selection and re-select just the image that was right clicked. Peter

Mick, That link takes me into a folder which contains separate files for each image, and the project file. Anyone trying to help you from that is going to have to download every file individually. I'm willing to help but not do all those downloads. Why didn't you do a "Create backup in zip" and then upload the zip file. It might be a monster but it is a single download that can be left to chug away in the background. regards, Peter

Raymond, I admire your persistence. I have given up trying to use Slideshowclub.com because the hassle involved in trying to get something uploaded just isn't worth the effort, in my opinion. Check the TV's handbook, the specification pages, and find out what file formats it supports. If it is a reasonably recent model it will probably support MP4. If so, Publish your sequence as a HD Video and try that on it. regards, Peter

Remember that PTE is a 32-bit application and you are working to a constraint of 4GB maximum output file size. Peter

Those input fields are described as "Parts". Why does that infer that the result will be a square tile? You are specifying that there will be 18 tiles along each row and 18 rows of tiles. Unless your aspect ratio is 1:1 the resultant tiles will always be rectangualr. It is simple mathematics and geometry. Peter

If you are talking about images as objects, all you need to do is select the existing object, copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C), advance to the next slide and paste it (Ctrl+V) and then replace the object image using the Properties tab of the O&A window. The size and position will be preserved. Peter

Jacek, Interclub means it is a competition between the participating clubs. It is open only to members of those clubs. If you are a member of any of the participating clubs you will already know whether they intend to participate in the competition. However, the fact that you are asking all these questions suggests to me that you are not a member of any of the clubs. If that is the case then, even if you sent in an entry it would not be accepted because you are not a member of any of the participating clubs. regards, Peter
