Ooops, have I got my names confused, sorry must be the Chardeney!
-
Very well finished and a good idea using the video, which makes it more realistic. My invoice for Intellectual Property use in in the post - or you owe me more advice as needed.

Hi Lin & Moritz Had a bit more time to look at your workings and cannot quite understand why you need a Mask and a Frame to control the slats. They appear to be doing the same job. On Moritz's latest, if you remove the Mask container and paste back the Frame with the slats, apart from a tweek of zoom, you get exactly the same, unless I am missing something subtle.

Nice finishing touches - thanks

In photoshop using combination rectangle and eliptical (circle) tools. My method not very elegant but it worked, let me know if you need more details.

Hi Lin, Thanks for the link. I have not looked too deeply into your workings mostly due to the fact it is after dinner and the Chardeney was very good. My effort is on the link beleow which I was going to keep until I could find a show to put it on. I think my venetian blind (flim flam?) is a bit better than yours but your the view from your window is much better!!! PC Link

I think you could be right, especially as my family business is Curtain Making! However, I have done it the best I can and I now need the rest of the show to go with it.

Peter. I see your thinking about Pan Z but no it doea not work. The relative angles of the slats stay the same. Dave. That is what I have now done but I hate boring repetative tasks. Xaver. Thanks for the link writen just before I joined. Had I read it then I would not have understoood it but most of it now makes sense. I cannot think the maths is difficult to sort out in PTE. A simpler solution which would sort my existing project would be to have just three observation points centred on the screen, one close to, one mid distance and one far distance. Perhaps a reminder to Igor could be useful? Thanks for your help, my little project is now done - I've just got to find a use for it!

Attached is a screenshot of a simulated Venetian blind (flim-flam? in US) in the open position. This is after being in the closed position. I have used the same degree of ‘Rotate X’ in 3D Parameters for all the slats and thus this perspective view. In real life this may be the view you would get if standing close to the blind but is not the view you get when standing some distance from the blind. I know that I can alter Rotate X for each individual slat but as I want at least 20 it is a chore. I guess that Igor has chosen some arbitrary angle of view of the screen to calculate the amount of perspective as you move from the centre of the screen. QUESTION. 1) Is there any way of adjusting this angle of view to reduce the perspective effect; 2) Is there any work-around to get the slat more horizontal at the top and btm of the screen without adjusting Rotate X individually.

Yes good idea, go for it.

I'm with Gary. With modern technology on TV's and Video players viewers have the abilty to "pause" when they need to go to the bathroom, "rewind" if they miss a bit, "fast forward" if they are getting bored etc, etc. I am not so precious about my shows to deny them the same ability. Nav Bar default - no big deal. If it's off, click it on; if it's on, click it off - simples!

Hi Jan, I do agree with you although some people may think it is gimmicky. I don't think my little efforts are particularly good, it's much better to think about doing some 3D when you are taking the photos - not after. A good effect is to layer in a foreground shot which then can be made to move in respect of the backround thus getting a more realistic 3D efffect. -
Hi Dave, I would not have suggested my method had I not tried it (see my Leeds Castle or Bodium opening and closing shots somewhere here). To clarify - select your photo and size in our case to 900 x 600 px,type the figures you want for the guides in View/New Guide,300, 600 and 900 one way and 200 and 400 the other way. The guides are then perfectly placed. Type the figures for the rectangles (in the case we were assuming 300 x 200 pixels)into Fixed Size on the Rectangular Marque Tool. Click into a rectangle on the grid and with "Snap" ticked move marque towards the grid lines and it will snap into place. Ctrl J to make this a layer. Do the same for all the other rectangles then hide the background layer. You will then have a perfect copy of the original and you can magnify this as much as you want and move one of the layers out of position and back again and you will not see the join. Academic, I know as LRRH is using Photoscape.

Insead of cropping to the guides why not use the rectangular marque tool set at 300 x 200 and this will then snap to the guides.

Thanks for all your comments and good wishes, and Happy Snapping in 2012. Roger. "Historic Rochester" is in the planning stage. -
For a first attempt - very good. I liked the way the show built up to link with the music and I liked the way you used the zoom effect (I assume that is what you did)to enhance the video. Some of the transitions did not quite work in my view but this did not spoil things. Next step, hire a helicopter and take your own video camera!

Just a thought - has anyone had a problem with AVG throwing out .exe files for no good reason from any other source other than PTE?
-
When I had AVG and it picked up Trojans, I always searched for them and never found any on any database including AVG's. How can they find a Trojan that does not even appear in their own database?
-
Thanks Lin for pointing me to previous discussion. Not sure I understoood some of it but can see a relevence for altering the default although it looks like updated versions has altered the effect somewhat. Thanks also Xaver as this seems to be a valid reason for it but I don't think I will use it but it's nice to know.

I have been going thro' the Instruction Manual finding out a few of the thing I did not know about but cannot find a use for "Main Object of Slide" in Properties section of O & A. The manual says we can select it but does not say why we would want to do it. Can somebody shed some light.

Nice one Colin and a Merry Christmas to you and to all Forum members. Mickp

No problem with MSE. dumped AVG some time ago and recommend vistors to my website to do the same. SPREAD THE WORD. By the way, great show Barry (as usual) and great photography (as usual). I didn't like the white background I got when viewing on my 4x3 monitor and now you've used the music on your show it will limit my inclination to use it.
-
No Problem with MSE allowing it through and scan comes up clean. Assuming this is an AVG specific problem again, is it not time that we saw (or heard of) some more active participation from Igor before his company's reputation is hit further.
