  1. Does that mean something has got into it at Mediafire? - worrying. Any experts around to offer advice?
  2. Hi Dave, Just got back from hols and as a cricket fan, I was keen to download your show. I tried 3 times and each time my AVG picked out a virus "Trojan Horse Dropper.Generic3.CFOZ" It threw out the download and quarenteened the virus. Strangly, their Virus Encylopedia did not recognise it although it did with different suffixes. Obviously other people have downloaded it without a problem but if anybody has any info, I would like to have it incase there is a problem my end. I would still would like to see your show.
  3. Hi Lin, Thanks for the info on "perspective correction for zoom", another bit of PTE I didn't know about. It does not work exactly on my demo as it now appears to quicken when getting close to max zoom but I can tweek in "settings" to give the required result. So should I ever want to use a massive zoom like that I shall know what to do.
  4. Worked fine for me and no problem with my AVG. Good demo too!
  5. Hi Andrew, A very nice show with some excellent photography. I particularly liked some of the detail shots and especially the long pan of the town finishing with the yellow flowers in the foreground. The captions were also a very good idea, one which I shall copy on a future show. You certainly got around whilst you were there and gave a very good insight into the island. I probably would not have used the Zorba's Dance theme as I do not like using music which is very well known as it may overwhelm the visual aspect sometimes and the increasing tempo of the music jarrs a little with the pace of the slides but all in all it was very enjoyable. I note you have it on the TDS Facebook site - I hope you will post it on the main site as I seem to be the only one posting the the A/V section.
  6. Well it isn’t. Demo – Pick a slide and customise it to say 10 seconds. In Objects and Animations create a keyframe at the 10 sec mark and change the zoom to something huge say 1500 and click play. You will see that you rush very quickly into the image at the start and you get slower and slower towards the end. If you now click on the “accelerate” tab on the zoom section and press play you will get something much closer to what I would call a linear zoom. Having done some measuring I find the image expands at a linear rate i.e. a 1 cm square increases to 2cms, 3, 4, 5 cms after say 1,2,3,4,5 seconds respectively but this is not the same as the effect of getting closer to the image at a constant rate. I think that it has something to do with the angle of view and it is the change of the angle of view that should be linear with time. Any comments?
  7. Hi Paul, There is a lot to like in this show, first effort or not. Excellent photography, very good fades from monotones to colour in sections and a good story to tell. I liked the way you used the curling page to transfer from landscape to portrait shots and I think that was a good departure from suggested other ways of doing it which I find a bit old hat. I have to be honest though, I did find the whole thing just a bit soporific but that is coming from someone whose fades, pans and zooms have been critised for being too fast. So perhaps it's a "me" thing. Well Done and I look forward to seeing more.
  8. Thanks for sharing the excellent show about Helen Martins and her amazing art. As somebody said, it is a shame she only got recognition after she has died. I was really impressed with the technical aspects of the show and impressed by your use of Photoshop (I assume) and PTE. It gives us lesser workers and good idea what can be done if we keep perservering and learning. I did just think that very occasionally the animations got a little gimmicky but that didn't detract from the show and it would be nice to have a translation of the commentary.
  9. Thanks Xaver and Davy for your comments which I find very helpful. I have found a couple of zooms which I have changed to "Slow" rather than "Linear" and adjusted the timing on the Grotto sign. I like the idea of switching the focus from foreground to background and will use that sometime in the future but for now I have switched the shot to a similar one that I took at F22. I also found the zoom out from the two black swans to the castle had the border coming into shot then out again, so I have corrected that. All the comments have been put into the memory bank. Barry, I know that working on a project for some time one builds a relationship with ones work and it can then be hurtful if it gets critised. However, this can be done sensitively by pointing out the good points first and then gently suggesting the improvements. I am not so sensitive and plain critisism is fine even if I do not ask for it.
  10. As always, Davy, great images and a great show. Ater viewing the show once I thought I could increse the seven seconds to fourteen but alas no keyboard control, boo-hoo. I had a critique of some of my photos that the highlights were blown out. I doubt the same critism will apply to some of your images. Just shows you that rules are for breaking.
  11. So come on Xaver be a bit arrogant, what did you think of the show?
  12. Thanks Bill, Lin and Roger for replying and for your comments. I have to say I am disappointed with the level of response especially as I asked for suggestions for improvements. It seems pointless me trying to use this Forum to improve my work as I could e-mail directly those likely to respond. Roger, I could kick myself for not seeing that the knocker should be the intro for the interior shots. I have moved it there now but I have to adjust the following slides to harmonise with the music. I used the fades to black to accentuate the change in the mood of the music which I thought worked well with the Grotto scenes although I was not sure about using the notice board. Thanks for the suggestions.
  13. Hi lin, Your posts and tutorials remind me of the adage "every day I get better and better". Thanks for teaching me.
  14. Hi Adri I found the monochrome photography first class and put together very well but found the occasional colour shots and the map just didn't work with the ethos of the show. Having spent several days in Brugge (and not being particularly well up on the history)I did think the show very morbid and, as suggested, some introduction would have been helpful. For me it might it might be nice to do another show as I remember Brugge - a joyful and colourful place.
  15. A revised version of a previous show but with updated photos and this time with an attempt to harmonise the slides with the music. Suggestions for improvements are very welcome. Top of the page at the moment
  16. There are quite a few shows in Wnsoft and Beechbrook that I had wished for a Navigation Bar if only to see how much more there was until it finished!
  17. Yes I agree. I'll give it a go but may need some help on the way.
  18. I second that Lin, it will save you getting lots of e-mails.
  19. The quality of Barry's show is not affected by the ad at the end even though it is a bit "in your face". The show inspires me to improve my B&W photography and it is good to know there is help to be had if I need it. Perhaps something more subtle with a link would have been more appropriate.
  20. Hi Eric, A lovely family momento and the montage at the end raised above that. Well done.
  21. Peter, It has all been said, but I must add my congratulations. Well done.
  22. Eric, you certainly rose to the challenge! First time I have seen Enigma and I found it quite stunning. Despite anything else, there is no doubting that Barry has talent.
  23. Hi Barry, Was a bit confused on first viewing where this was going but all became clear at the end. Then had to go back and view it a couple more times to appreciate it. Yes a sweet A/V on an enchanting place, also a mysterious one as there is no epilogue to tell us more. Eric, ignoring Barry's (newly found?) Aussie bluntness, I do think you are missing a lot by not upgrading
  24. To offer advice on how something could possibly be improved is surely positive and encouraging especially if something good about the show can be found as well.
  25. Positive comments are helpful because they are encouraging. Negative comments without explanation are not. No hypocrisy there. Personally I try to make comments which have something to say. If I have nothing to say I keep quite
