Hi Dave, A year ago I was in Canterbury with half an hour to spare and thought I would go to the precincts to take some outside shots of the cathedral but found they wanted the full price of £10 to do that. I vowed I would never come back. But later some relatives wanted to visit the cathedral so I relented and paid the £10 and gift aided it which meant I could go back any time for the next year. There was no extra charge for photography and I could use a monopod with care (not sure about a tripod as I didn't take one) and flash with sensitivity if I had wanted. Also the guides were extremely helpful and pointed me to various points of interest that I might have missed plus I also got one of the head guides to vet my script for accuracy. So for me I thought it was £10 well spent. Sorry you did not like the rotation shot of the inside of the tower but I thought that it would relate it better to the outside shot but thanks for you other comments

Thanks Eric and Dave. Tried previously copy then paste but nothing would paste (although it would paste in Word) so typed it in by hand.

A documentary style A/V giving a brief history of Canterbury Cathedral, the centre of the Church of England and the worldwide Anglican community. www.slideshowclub.com/files/file/118-canterbury-cathedral/

Totally agree with Lin and so easy to do, you don't need to translate the French instructions just follow the post. Bravo Jean-Cyprien.

Thanks Lin, very well explained. I think I will just wing it. Mickp

In 7.5 the file size of an .exe file produced from the slide list was noted on the status bar but alas no more. I am working with a lot of video and would like to keep the .exe file size under control as I go along. Is there a way of find this out without creating the .exe file every time?

Lovely textures in the sand/sea shots and great dramatic seascapes. Got fed up with the church but guess you couldn't do much about that. Didn't like the circle transitions which I thought were a bit too sharp-edged but otherwise a super show. Thanks for sharing.

Okay, got that but what you are saying is that the default in Project Options does not work but the work around is to use "Save and use by default" in a particular show (very useful) to be the default for every other show. Something for Igor to sort out but quite a low priority.
-
Well it is obviously the answer Dave but where is it?
-
I cannot get the default text to work either. I note that when setting the type in the second window and pressing "apply to all slides" then nothing appears in the box below "customise" in the first window - should it?

Hi Eric, I seem to remember Peter having a long discussion about the subtle difference between solo and mute, one getting exported and the other not and the reasoning behind it - I think. However, audacity either exports it or it doesn't and if it does PTE will pick it up and if it doesn't it wont.

I think Lin may know how do it using several GIF images taken of various stages of the running motion but its beyond me - I'd use video.

Hi Jeff, I actually enjoyed this one more than round trip around Iceland. Very informative good photography and well put together and, with the after effects or the eruption, very interesting.
-
Hi Roger, Excellent photography, as always, in what must be a difficult setting and a well put together show as indeed it looks like the main show was.

December Morning on the Romney Marsh
David Porter replied to raybridges's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Hi Ray, First viewing was spoilt by thinking about audio volumes re previous comments. Second viewing I really enjoyed as the photography says it all. Brilliant. -
Hi Eric, Got it this time and saved it and yes you have some complicated shapes that I would not know how to do with Masks (maybe someone else does) but many others are easy to achieve.
-
Hi Eric, I think getting to grips with Masks could save you a lot of time unless you wanted to use complicated shapes. I was going to check this on your show but now when I click your links I get the download page but when I click "download" I get the error attached. Maybe a Mediafire problem but will try later.
-
Well Eric, all I can say is WOW! I don't quite understand what your input was and there are some imperfections with the masks but it is a lovely sequence.
-
Hi Peter, Fossils are not really my thing but I found the show really interesting and informative. The photography was very good and the show well put together with nice transitions and effects. Maybe the opening commentary was a bit "staccato" but that is a personal thing. Good to see more work from you.

A Little Southwest Christmas Dream
David Porter replied to Lin Evans's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Hi Lin, Like you I shoot in 3:2 and also find it difficult to try and compose in a different format. However, I do a lot of landscape work and I do think this often works better in wide screen so I compromise and sometimes do shows in 16:10. This works well on my 3:2 monitor and also my 16:9 TV as both have black surrounds and the black lines just meld in. I think you should choose a format that suits the show and not worry about the black lines. As an afterthought I think it would be good if SLR makers (or Canon at least) would add a frame as required to the viewing screen to show the varying formats while still keeping the full format. Can't be difficult to do. -

Hi Lin, Must be the old eyes are failing or the Christmas revelries are starting early but 3:2 is on the list of Aspects Ratios in Project Options. -
A Little Southwest Christmas Dream

The Format seems to be 4:3 and not 3:2 (43cm x 32 cm), at least it is on my monitor and it is not distorted as the snow globes are perfectly round. -
Very nice Lin but might it be better if foreground object came slightly closer perhaps as though it were passing by on the RHS whilst the background got further away. I did something similar when videoing from a moving car, zooming out from the foreground object but not as quickly as the car was going forward. Pure luck of course but it looked quite effective. Don't know if that was what Hitch did.

ICELAND - land of fire and ice
David Porter replied to Lakelandlass's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
Hi Maureen, I was going to say that the photography was amongst the best you have produced until I saw the end credits. You must be very proud of Mark. These photos would make an excellent photo book on Iceland - do you know any publishers? Perhaps you might know that I didn't like the mini pans and zooms as they did not add anything to the excellent photographs and I found it quite distracting. Nice to know I can go back and view these photos without the movement. Good to know that you are busy so I guess there is something on the way from you to which I shall look forward. Nothing in PTE 8 beta would add anything that 7.5 has not already achieved.
