Jim, like you I am no expert in this stuff, so the Windows Recording Mixer may be related to the Sound Card which in my case is a SB Audigy 2.25 Audio and the settings are: Music Synth "What U Hear" S/P Dif-In CD Digital Analog MiMicrophone Wave Ron [uK]

I don't know the answer but there is another way of copying the music track. I have just experimented as follows. 1. Have the sequence ready to play. In Audition Options>Windows Recording Mixer - Recording Control select "What U Here". (You may have to set the level by experimentation). 2. Set Audition recording. 3. Play the Sequence. At this point Images will fill the screen so you can't minimise and see what is happening in Audition. 4. Once the sequence has finished and has returned you to desktop you can stop Audition recording and you can trim off as much as you wish of silence at the beginning and end. I had not experimented this way until a few minutes ago and it worked for me. Good luck and maybe someone else will come up the exact answer to your query. Ron [uK]

I was informed by this e-mail from Bill (Beechbrook) on 28.11.05 "Special Notice: The PTE Upload Utility is temporarily closed while all files are being transferred to a new server. There may be times during this transition period that Beechbrook.Com will not be available. Thank you in advance for your patience." Ron [uK]

This is what I wrote in the recent posting that I quoted: "Received this e-mail from Bill (Beechbrook) on 28.11.05 "Special Notice: The PTE Upload Utility is temporarily closed while all files are being transferred to a new server. Hi Fredor, you have come in on a 5 month old thread. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. In another current thread you will see my post saying that Bill (Beechbrook) is changing servers hence the current absence of facilities. Presumably that is why you are concerned. Regards. Ron [uK]

It is a question of horses for courses. As my sequences are invariably for projection for audience viewing, I do not like to see any distractions such as the Nav-Bar or Page Numbers. However, if I wish to pause etc. in a presentation, such as a selection of images submitted for a competition or say the output from a personal camera shoot or selection for a PTE Project, I use a template based on Brian (Conflow)'s "Manual Slide Show" initiated Sep 29 2004. Try Search - Manual Slide Show. There should be enough information in the thread to produce a template without bothering Brian. Ron [uK]

How to get a blank page e.g. to make a title page or adivider
ronwil replied to nharris's topic in Slideshows & AV Shows
I agree with you Jim as I always use Photoshop for creating my titling and special backgrounds, apart from blanks when I use the method as I described. I phrased my answer on the basis that Noel wanted to tackle the problem from within PTE. I even pointed him towards WnSoft PixBuilder which looks to be an excellent programme with the same high standards as PTE. Ron [uK] -

Noel A very apt name at this time of the year and welcome to the forum. I presume you wish to work within PTE and not picture editing software such as PixBuild. First of all let us deal with creating a blank slide. All you need to do is to insert a copy of one of your images at a point in the Slide List where you want it then uncheck the box to the left of Show Image below the Slide List. Click on the image above and you will see you have a blank image. The colour of this blank image can be changed using Customize Slide>Main>Background. You can then add your comments on the appropriate blank, using the Comment box below the Slide List, and editing it using Project Options >Comments Best of Luck Ron [uK] -
I heartily agree with what you are saying, Mike. Like you I started with a single projector and on site commentary, progressing still with a single projector but a pulsed tape. From there I arranged for the pulse to show on an indicator light and I manually dissolved on two projectors and so it progressed. I now assemble my sequences in PTE using a template and then customise certain images. It is this result , transition and effect, which I would like transferred to the timeline for the final tweak to the music. At the moment only the effect timing is transferred. However, PTE is giving me so much pleasure and as Andrew (Severn Bore) says it is a joy to use and capable of producing first class results. Ron [uK]
-
I think this is what others and myself have discussed in previous threads and the wishlist. That is a facility for one's own timings for duration and effects to be inserted on the timeline. Ron [uK]

Michel I preferred the 50jpg and enjoyed "My Country". Vin de Pays? Ron [uK]

Mike When you come to have a go try different settings for the smoothing line. 0 (zero) will give a hard edge and 1000 soft with varying degrees in between. 60 is the default setting. 1000 is not the maximum but useful setting for seeing the effect. Will be in touch later this week re MTAV. Ron [uK]

Lin From my second observation, this time on my projected sequence, I think the jerkiness or quiver occurs when an image fades to another using pan. As Ken says this is no big deal. Ron [uK]
-
Steve Twice I selected "Save" for download and like Ken the zip came down in a flash and when trying to open told to try again as the download was incompatible. On the third occasion I selected "Open" and everything went like clockwork and the resulting sequence was well worth watching. Good luck Ron [uK]

Lin I have completed the transfer to my Digital Projection Unit and as I type it is playing back satisfactorily and looking fine on my 6 foot screen. Maybe Igor might send me a demo sequence when one is ready just to try. Ron [uK]
-
Thanks Lin. That was a bit of a marathon effort but it did prove that, as I said earlier in this thread, my main computer is capable of playing back sequences produced in other software, such as ProShow Gold. As my Digital Projection Unit has virtually the same specification as the main I am confident of the outcome but I need to transfer the sequence across, which I will do later. I have only a few comments of interest: 1. Download took only five minutes on my 2Mb Broadband, a subject which was discussed in another thread. 2. There was only one blemish in the whole playback on my equipment. A pair of sheep faded into a landscape in pan. The pan was jerky. 3. My Screensaver is set not to come in on normal length sequences - I should have switched it off. Oh, by the way, I enjoyed the imagery. Thanks again. Kind Regards Ron [uK]

Patrick you say "Letting 2 versions in circulation as suggested is purely unrealistic and doesn't change anything to the fact that there will be PTE slideshows in circulation unreadable for a great number of us". I am not sure if this is correct only Igor can answer that one. If it is it will cuse great consternation among those of us who project other people's work at AV Days and Competition events. I have had no problems projecting sequemces produced in other software such as Medi@Show, Powerpoint etc. The UK International and National Championships have been projected successfully, using the same equipment as myself, ever since digital projection was introduced at these events. I am due to project for the Federation of South London Photographic Societies AV Competition in January, but most of the sequences for that event will have been prepared by now. No one is seeking to delay the introduction of Version 5.0, certainly not me, but whether the new effects will be available to most of us as soon as possible thereafter or whether we have to consider the expense of upgrading our equipment. We are not impatient children as seems to be suggested in another thread. Ron [uK]
-
But we do want to use the new version otherwise we wouldn't have voted nor would we have expressed an opinion. You know that my equipment is of recent vintage and hence my concern that I may not be able to share in this new development, which I have supported. My demos on the Beechbrook site are proof of this. Ron [uK]
-
Well spoken. My feelings exactly. Ron [uK]
-
But I am still disturbed. My Digital Projection Unit, which was upgraded less than three years ago, has a NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX400 video card, but it is excluded from the voting. I use this equipment for my tutorials. I do hope Igor that I will not be involved in the expense once more of upgrading both my machines to be able to use pan & zoom. Ron [uK]
-
Being one of the 30% I am dismayed that I may be excluded from the use of pan and zoom. When this effect first reached the top of the wish list I doubt if these faster video cards were around. Ron [uK]
-
I agree with all that has been said. I purchased the original four when they were first announced by Barry and they have proved most acceptable. I have just ordered another five. I can also recommend Barry's tutorials. Ron [uK]

Michel You can tell your friend that I thought this was a most enjoyable sequence with excellent imagery. The use of the extra thick smoothing line on some of the effects blended well with the steamy atmosphere. Merci bien. Ron [uK]

Why do all that when it is a one off procedure in Photoshop if you follow the earlier thread which I have quoted? Ron [uK]
