Hi, I have read somewhere on this forum, that you can watch your 1920x1200 EXE show on a HD TV, by connecting your laptop computer to the TV. I have done that and the show looks good. The only thing is that even if the show is made 1920x1200, on my TV it does not fill the screen. I had expected black bars on the side because the show is not 1920x1080 (16:9) as my TV is, but is (16:10). But I would expect the height to be full covered on the TV. The picture I get on the TV is avbout 2/3 to 3/4 of the full srceen, with black bars on all sides. Is this because the laptop's screen solution is max 1360x768? (I had set it for 1280X800 what is 16:10). What do I have to do to get my screen filled (except for the black side bars) on my HD TV. Thanks, Bert

PTE is a difficult program to learn, in my camera club I am the only one using it. Some other people tried it and went with Pro Show. If it was not for Barry's tutorials I would still be struggling more and had probably changed to another program also. I think Barry provides a service to the PTE community and the promotion of his product on the forum seems very much understated to me. Bert

Igor, I want to create a "high quality MP4 video file (H264)" in 1920 x 1200 (16:10) format. There is no preset in PTE for this size at the moment. I know I can set the size in "custom" but the presets give much better results I found. The presets are currently only for SD (800x600), SD (1024x768), HD (1280x720, HD (1280x960) and HD (1920x1080). Can you please make a preset for 1920x1200 (16:10). Thanks, Bert

Igor, Some months ago I noticed if when making a HD Video for PC and Mac, the presets worked much better and faster than when I did my own parameters. I asked if you could make a preset also for HD 1920 x 1200 format. Can you please still ad that to PTE Deluxe 7. Thanks, Bert

Having just gone thru 100 images in 2x3 format, to make them cover the screen in a 16x9 format one by one. I like cover the screen to be the default, Or that it can be done in one click for all slides (images). I can live with any name but see Barry's logic, but Tonton Bruno's point in #7 is also a good one. Best regards, Bert

Hi Maureen, Your son has a great eye and must have carefully watched his histogram when he took those pictures, (in JPEG you said). Great clarity and perfect light in the pictures. It is nice to see a show where the quality of the pictures is paid so much attention to. Thanks for showing. Bert

Picsel, Very nice mixing of stills and video, showing what is going to be a new direction in AV shows I think. Thanks for showing, Bert

Would this work in the time-line view? Bert

The most comments in this forum are positive when we like a show, but are mostly not much helpfull in making better shows. If one then makes a comment of not liking it, and is attacked for that as not helpful, seems to be hypocritical to me. Bert

Hi Mark, I liked the photographs, I have seen your black and white pictures in your mono show and think they are in a class by itself. The color photographs did for the most part not reach that same artistic quality (in my opinion of course), and made the show therefore inconsistent . I Hope you don't mind me expressing this. Bert

Hi Maureen, Just watched your show and was spellbound by it. Your images are of such high quality, and the flow of the show and the choice of the music made for one of the best travel slide shows I have seen on this forum. Thanks for posting it. Bert -
Sorry but you made it now to complicated for me to use without reading the whole manual. Deleted it. Bert

Hi Dom, Fantastic images and nice presentation, on my wide-screen monitor, I found it looked better when the images covered the whole screen without the white border. Just my preference. Thanks for showing, Bert

Hi Lin, You show 1920x1080 ran fine on my computer. The only thing was a riple effect on the left half of the screen when there was no zoom going on.(At the beginning and the same at the end of the show). Windows XP home, NVIDIA 8600GT, 256 Ram, Dell 22" wide screen 1680 X 1050. Regards, Bert

I find that the presets to make a HD video in high quality, work better than any settings I make in the custom mode. I like to keep my shows in the 1920 x 1200 format. Can you make a preset for that format also in the next version. Thanks, Bert

Hi Snapcam, I don't mind your comments as they express some of the thoughts, when I was making the show. If it were possible arranging the images so as to take the viewer on a tour ie through doors ,up stairs into and out of rooms would be another possibility. I did not have enough pictures for that approach. The images cried out for slow zooms into some of the detail. I tried that but the HDR images had already a lot of noise, and zooming to much make that really stand out. I took 3 pictures all the time, normal exposure, 2 stops over, and 2 stops under (1 minute sometimes). The light was uneven and some rooms where very dark. The close-ups I took that way had so much noise that I could not use them. Thanks for your comments, everything helps me to make better shows. Bert

Bob, Thanks for your comments, I will give it a try in B&W and see how that looks, I have tried it with the pictures less saturated, but it became to dull I found.

Barry, Thanks for your comments. The few close-ups I had made did not look good in HDR (to much grain and noise) and I decided not to use them. The white line I got was a template on your CD , but I should have made it grey. My friend and I have decided not to go there again as we feel we pressed our luck. Some parts are very dark and with holes in the floor and hanging ceilings you never know when something falls. Our main concern however was the police, they patrol a lot there and it would be a little embarrassing for two guys in there mid sixties to be arrested for trespassing. But if you come up here of cource I will go in there with you. You have to hurry up however, because the latest news is that the town of Millbrook wants to tear it finally down this spring to build condominiums on the property

Hi Jose, Thanks for your nice comments. To comment on the points you make. I have tried to synchronize the images with the music, but I must admit, I have kind of a tin ear and may not have been that successful. What I did was, first made sure all the images were on the screen long enough to get a good view of them. After that I looked where they were on the timeline and tried to make the dissolves when it looked right in the wave form. Sometimes there were no high points in the wave form and I had to rely on my (tin) ear. For making dramatic zoom-ins and maybe some hard dissolves, I tried a view of them and was not happy with it. I can see from your show that you have experience as a film maker and make your comments from that point of view I think. Thanks for taking the time to make your points, everything helps me to make better shows in the future. Bert

Hi Mary, Thanks for your nice comments, To answer your question, I used Photomatix 3 for the HDR images. By researching the building for this show, I fond a few websites with some old pictures from when it was an all girls school and also with an more extensive write up. http://www.opacity.us/site11_bennett_school_for_girls.htm

Hi Jose, With apprehension I downloaded your show, expecting that it would be too long to hold my attention. How wrong I was. The moving train, the nostalgic pictures, the music and the diverse sounds made for a great ride thru memory lane. Thanks for making it public. -
Halcyon Hall, This more than 100 year old building is located in Millbrook NY. The outside looks like something out of a movie. Recently my friend and I went to see what it looked inside, knowing it has been abandoned for 33 years. Shaky wooden floors, ceilings on the verge of collapse and police patrolling regularly outside made for an adventurous photo shoot. All the inside pictures are done in HDR to get the look we liked for this show. You can down load it from the Beechbrook site. (thanks Bill. http://beechbrook.com/pte/downloadfile.asp?id=1923 Comments welcome. 1920x1200 6min. 40.9MB
