(SOLVED) Loss of contrast, saturation, and detail in final show?
Bert replied to aaroncgi's topic in Troubleshooting
Aaron, You write that you make a 1920x1080 slide show. You also write also that the resolution of your images is 1400x1080 max. If you make a slide show of 1920x1080, your resolution should be minimal 1920x1080 otherwise you see your images at more than 100% and they will loss a lot of detail. I am not sure, but maybe that is the problem. Bert -

I thought I had read that it was ALWAYS wrong to remove a slide while in the timeline, hence my request to make it impossible. Bert

In the last weeks I have worked on a show with 315 Slides and 10 pieces of music. I don't make that much slideshows and made a lot of mistakes. It took a long time to get the timing of the slides and the music correct. One of the mistakes I kept making was to remove a slide when I was in the timeline, I have read on the forum many times that you should not do this as this wrecks havoc with your timed slides. But when you working in the timeline, you don't always think of that. You can in the timeline right click the slide and click remove. My proposal is to GREY the remove button out when you right click a slide in the timeline and make it impossible to remove the slide when in the timeline. Thanks, Bert

Igor, I don't mind to start from the new position you show, as long as it does the same as the "Toaster Button" does now, start with the slide before and shows the transition. The button you mention, now starts the slide without the transition. Bert

Thanks Yachtsman, I am just in the process of trying to add a few videos to my slideshow. I don't do that regular, so your Youtube video came just at the right time. Bert

I am working with about 300 images in a show, and when I go in the timeline view, I like the possibility to see the time in 1/10 of a second. Now all the images in the timeline look so close together. In the users guide I typed in "Expand Timeline" but it could not find anything. Can anybody tell me how to expand the timeline so I can see the decimals of seconds? Thanks, Bert

If technical possible, I am also in favor of this option, would make it possible to zoom or pan while the border stays in place. Bert

Hi Lin, You understood precisely what I wanted to do, and your explanation was very clear. Ones I read your explanation on how to do it, it took me all but a few minutes to make the black separation. Thanks for your help. Regards, Bert

Hi There must be a simple solution for this, but I can not find it. I have two pictures and they each fill half of the screen. They are of different size one is at 100% and outside the screen area on the top the bottom and the right side. The other image is 85% and is outside the screen area at the top the bottom and the left side. One of the images is on the foreground and the other is the behind image. It looks now if they but each other in the middle of the screen, but one is maybe 10% behind the other one. I like to have a small black area between the two images in the middle. I looked at the "at Frame" and "at Rectangle" but could not understand it even using the help screen. It must be simple to have two images on the same screen divided by a black stripe, but I can not find it. Can somebody maybe give my "exact" instructions on how to do this. Thanks, Bert

Morturn, Thanks for your comment, I read on line some of the fond memories that the "now older" women had from the time they were at Bennett College in the forties and fifties, and how sad they where to see it deteriorate to the point were it was falling apart. Bert

Judy, Thanks for posting these links to the history and context of "Halcyon Hall" Bert

Halcyon Hall, I have submitted this slideshow to "slideshow club" This more than 100 year old building was located in Millbrook NY. The outside looked like something out of a movie. A few years ago my friend and I went to see what it looked inside, knowing it has been abandoned for 33 years. Shaky wooden floors, ceilings on the verge of collapse and police patrolling regularly outside made for an adventurous photo shoot. All the inside pictures are done in HDR to get the look we liked for this show. I have updated the show to 16x9 format and a MAC version. The building is now demolished.

Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion
Bert replied to Lin Evans's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Dave, I have a wired mouse and keyboard, but they do not work with my Boot Disc or repair disc. For the boot disc, the next button was always highlighted and I could click Enter all the time to reboot. For the repair disc there where different options, repair was highlighted, but if I clicked on one of the arrows on my keyboard, it became un-highlighted and nothing else could be highlighted anymore, could also not go back to the repair option. Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion
Bert replied to Lin Evans's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Stu and Gary, Thanks for your advice to test the boot disc. I did test the recovery boot disc and it started windows on my computer. I have also a windows repair disc, that took longer and downloaded (windows?) files. than it gave me choices to reboot , repair, windows restore and exit. Windows repair was highlighted and I could not highlight any other task, because there was no mouse arrow and also the up and down arrows on the keyboard did not work. Did the repair and it said there was nothing to repair. Could finally get to exit it. Is it normal that the mouse does not work? And is there a way that at least the arrows on the keyboard can work when I use the repair disc. Thanks, Bert -
Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion
Bert replied to Lin Evans's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Gary, Thanks for your advice, I had forgotten, but I just checked and I had made a recovery boot disc for windows 7. You mention to doing a restore even for 2 files, but I am afraid of doing that as everything is working fine and I don't like to mess with things I don't know to much about. The only issue I have had in last year was that sometimes a program (also PTE) started to behave different. A system restore always corrected that problem. When the hard drive crash comes, I keep my fingers crossed and hope I did the right backup. Bert -
Cloning Your Hard Drive... Software Suggestion
Bert replied to Lin Evans's topic in Equipment & Software
I do not know that much about computer systems, when I had my hard drive fail 3 years ago, I had it replaced but it took a very long time to put all the programs I had on it back. specially the ones I did not have disc for. When I bought a new computer 1.5 year ago, it came wit Windows 7 and it had a separate SSD as C drive for my programs and a 1TB hard drive for my files and pictures. When I read up on Windows 7 it said that you could create a System Image Backup automatically. Since then I have bought a 2TB USB drive and have Windows automatically ones a week, create the system image backup and also a backup for all the files and pictures. When I read all the postings here on this topic, I can not understand why no one has mentioned the System image backup thru Windows 7. I hope it works when I have to replace my hard drive. Bert
