  1. Boxing Well I looked and found a program that already does this. http://www.webattack.com/get/soundcontrol.shtml My idea is to use this on my laptop, It has volume up button but no volume down. And I don't like not being able to turn down the volume with the keyboard when I am turning it up and I go a little too far. When I was reading about the volume control I just thought it would be nice to be able to use the keyboard. So I went looking at other programs that are out there. Thanks. cc
  2. Boxing, Would you also be able to add keyboard control. Where we could assign keys of our choice to turn up or down the volume. Or Mute. This way we could run it in our system tray and we might not have to have it on the screen to turn up or down the volume? Just a thought. cc
  3. It plays fine on my Windows 98 300 Mhz 256 ram You might have them check the file size. make sure they did get it all downloaded. cc
  4. What I do is just export my file as a wav then I convert it to an MP3 I know this is an extra step. But I already had a program I liked to convert wav's to MP3's If you don't have a convert program Boxing has a Free Wav to Mp3 program on his site. It is # 15 under "Programs and Utilities" http://www.thailandphotoalbum.com/#programs It is only 670 KB and I am sure he will help you with any questions Or add some more options if you wish He is very helpful. cc
  5. If you click your mouse again the show will resume. But if your pictures are on the screen for 6 seconds you will prolly have to wait 6 seconds until you see your pictures start changing agian. The navigation bar is a little more Visual. It shows when you are paused so you know when you have it in pause or play mode. cc
  6. Thanks for your Hard Work. For myself I don't use the WMA Files. So It would Work Fine for Myself. without the WMA support. I think there are too Many Freeware MP3 Rippers for it to make a Different for Anyone. If someone were using WMA files it would not cost them anything To Switch and start using MP3. And I am sure if one searched they could find a free WMA to MP3 convert program. cc
  7. Hello, MP3trim is freeware and you can cut an mp3 down You can have it lower the volume at the end so you don't come to a sudden stop. The file size it (206 kb) It is easy to use. I used it when I cut the sound down on my slide show "Freeze Frame" http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/mp3trim.htm cc
  8. Here is a Freeware program that was post on the old forum. I have used it a few times. You just pick the mp3's you want to merge and the order you want them to play It is a small download only 234kb http://mp3merge.netfirms.com/ cc
  9. Hello, If you move the .pte file that has all the information into the Dir were all of your picures are at it assuming they are all in the same dir when you open the pte file it will look first in the dir where it is located. And it should find them. The only problem I have had with this is the newest version 4.01 does not find the objects that are added to slides. But the earlier versions this works well with. A different way would be open up your .pte file in a text editor and change the path where the files are located. That take a little longer. If I did not answer your question well please post again hope this helps you cc
  10. Hello, Yes they did move it. You can find it now in the Project options. under the Comments. At the bottom of this page is a check box and then you can select to have the slide number or picture name listed as the comment for each slide. One thing to watch out for. Is everytime you go into the project options and make a change and ok to leave it adds the comments to all slides. So if you take the comments off of a slide to use a title page then go back into the project options to add an Icon or music or change anything. It will add the comments to all slides. So After you ok the comment screen to add the comments to all slides. Go back into the options and uncheck the box. It does not delete all comments. But it will keep you from having the commets show up when you know you have already taken them off. I think this option should be changed to a push button and take away the check box. cc
  11. The added icon needs to be sized to 16x16 or 32x32. And you need to reduce the color down to 256. Two Freeware programs that allow you to do this are: IrfanView and XnView Most users on the Forum talk about Irfanview But myself I use Xnview. If you need more help explaning how to crop and resize and reduce the colors down to 256 then save as an icon. Just post again. And tell us what program you are using. I am sure someone using the same program will be more then happy to help you along your way. As Igor said v4.0 has a nice Icon added if you do not add one yourself And PTE has Free upgrades So it does not cost to upgrade to the lastest version If you need hlep with this too just leave a post. someone will answer all your question. cc
  12. Thanks for the update. After reading Ray's post a while back I too made some copies with my laptop's TV out. It was a slideshow I made for a cousin that lost her battle with cancer. And the Family loved being able to all watch the show while playing it in the front room and not try and watch a 17 inch screen in the Den. It may not be the same quality as the computer screen. But if more people can watch a show and enjoy it together. Then it is a much better show in the end. Thanks to Ray, for point out the easy way to transfer our shows to a DVD player so more family members can enjoy our work. cc
  13. I welcome you too. One more thing about this. If you hide the mouse durning the slide show or sync your show to music you will not see the Navigation Bar. cc
  14. It sounds to me like your show has customize sync. partly done. Cick on the customize sync and make sure your Auto Sync is selected This will have each picture show for equal amounts of time. http://216.43.119.72/photos/auto.jpg cc
  15. If you create your Text in a Graphic editor and save it as a Gif. You can place that with the object editor. Then you will not have to worry about what fonts are on other computers. PTE 4.0 will allow the use of transparent background Gifs. And earlier versions of PTE you could open the properties and check, the check box to make the background transparent. cc
  16. That is right You can not pause the music. It will keep playing only the pictures are paused. So you might want to pick more then one song. That way who ever is viewing the show will not hear the same song over and over. I wish there was an option on the Navigation Bar to Mute the sound. I am sure some people look at pictures for hours before they decide what they would like to order. I know that there is a volume control on the computer. And that works too. cc
  17. Welcome Jimmy It is always nice to see new interest in PTE. Sorry, I don't know of any programs for the Mac. It would be hard to find any program that has someone like Igor that listens to what the people want and gives them free upgrades every few months When I bought PTE in 2001. I liked it, but as I learned more about slideshows It did not always do everything I wanted. And then a new version would be released (Free upgrades) and there was a new option I was wanting. That makes creating my slideshow easier. I always look forward to a next version. cc
  18. Another option you could use. . . . . If you turn on the Navigation Bar one of the options is to go to the first side. If you make your first slide be your "Chapters Page" You can click on the First slide button on any slide. (It will look like a little house) And pick the "Chapter" You wish to look at. You can also have a next and Previous buttons too. But the Navigation Bar does not show up if you Sync the show with music or hide the Cursor. cc
  19. Hello Skipeye Welcome, From what I have read I don't think you can get your EXE file to play on a DVD player. To get a slideshow to play on your DVD player You would have to convert your show to a Video and the quality would not be as good as you have on your computer screen. I am sure if you want a step by step answer, someone will be willing to help. For myself I have a Sony computer and Sony has a program called "Click to DVD" It will take my pictures and a sound file and make a DVD with them. I can even sync the sound and the pictures so they end at the same time. But nothing compares to the quality of PTE. (In my opinion.) cc
  20. When you are using 4.0 and have a object that has a transparent gif it is already checked to be a transparent background and you can not uncheck it. If you try to uncheck the option it defaults back to checked. After you OK the Properties. I did get the gif to work if I changed the Gif to a none Transparent Gif. then checked the box to make the background Transparent. To make sure other are seeing what I am seeing I may need to make sure I don't use a Transparent Gif. Thanks for your reply cc
  21. I made a slide show in 4.01 on my windows XP computer. And used an transparent Gif "object" for a title. All looked ok When I viewed the show on Windows 98 It shows the Transparent Gif with a white background. Do you know if this is a problem with Windows 98? Will it not show the transparent background? Or is there something I need to upgrade on the windows 98 so it will show the transparent objects? It works fine if I use a gif without a transparent background and choose to make the background transparent by checking the box in the properties. Thanks for any help.
  22. The first time I tried to run the show I had the same problem. But I was running it out of the zip file. After I extracted the show the file ran fine on my XP system. I am running a 2.53 hz 512 MB Ram
  23. I too use the search and replace to edit my .PTE file. But I have only had to do this with the newest version of PTE 4.0 If I try and open my Templet's with 3.8 it works Fine. It will find all of my Objects. Only 4.0 will tell me that it can't find them and tell me that it is looking in the old DIR. This is why I think this might be a bug in version 4.0 Maybe is had something to do with the added transparent Gif support? cc
  24. This is a problem I have brought up before. If I have saved a templet with an older version. and moved it to a CD with the .PTE file. Then Delete the Dir were the orginal files are at. When I try and open it with V4.0 If finds everything But the Objects that I have in the show. I can Manually edit the .PTE file or remake the slides with objects. But, it will not look in the same Dir as the .PTE file for the objects. My objects are .gif's cc
  25. But the link to download it does not work. Sorry cc
