Opinion Needed on AVI to Flash File
Ronniebootwest replied to isabel95's topic in General Discussion
Hello Peter, Ken Cox has pointed me to your recent post about creating flash files from your PTE slide shows and I may be able to offer some advice. I now include similar slide shows on my own web site and I use the same program as Isabelle (you will have to obtain the full working copy in order to improve the quality and remove the watermark) Have a look at the slide shows on my site and check that it is what you are trying to achieve. New Tutorial on 3D Cube Creation and Manipulation
Ronniebootwest replied to Lin Evans's topic in General Discussion
This is an excellent tutorial! With the added bonus of now having the PTE Project file available, it will be easier to understand. Thanks Lin, for your continued help with all things to do with Pictures To Exe. Ron -
Thin vertical lines between split images....Why?
Ronniebootwest replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for that. It seems that I was trying to load a 9mb attachment without realising that there is a 2mb limit. Ron -
Thin vertical lines between split images....Why?
Ronniebootwest replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
Made with Photoshop. No lines visible. It took about 15 minutes to put together Ron I can't seem to get the attachment to load. Can somebody please explain how to do it? -
Why don't you consider reusing the waste ink by refilling the black cartridge? I think that I might consider an HP printer when my present Epson dies on me. Ron

Thin vertical lines between split images....Why?
Ronniebootwest replied to goddi's topic in General Discussion
I had this same problem with Photoshop! Before going into the technical stuff, try putting a copy of the original (unsplit) image AFTER the split image that you have placed in the bottom slide list and have it fade quickly on screen. Ron -
I had a problem with my Epson 1290 printer the other day. There were two light flashing alternately on the front of the printer and it just refused to print. I investigated the situation and found out about the 'Waste Ink' tanks that are housed in the bottom of the printer (it seems that most Epson printers are made this way. These tanks fill up with the waste ink used when using the head cleaning function of the printer. Of couse, Epson want you to return the printer for servicing (at a cost of about £95 I understand) and I considered this to be extortionate! The answer is to fit an EXTERNAL WASTE INK TANK and bypass the internal ones completely. I have done this now and my printer is working fine now. If you are interested in learning where I obtained the replacement kit (cost £11.75) then visit my web site and read the link found on the Links page 2 Here:

Hello Betsy, I am pleased to see that you are making good use of the forum - you will always get good advice here! Be aware that, using the music that you mention, might upset the 'Copywrite' laws though. Ron

Igor, I agree with Peter and I tend to use the same options that he mentions. In fact, I always recommend that it be turned on in all my PTE tutorials now. I therfore agree that it is time to ALWAYS USE HARDWARE ACCELERATION. Ron West

Creating AVI file without burning DVD
Ronniebootwest replied to isabel95's topic in General Discussion
Isabele, I agree with you, the instructions are very unclear. I am going to produce a pdf with step by step instructions on how to create an AVI file in PTE. It will be available on my web site, on the 'downloads' page (free for anyone to download) Ron West -
I tried to get the 'Freebie' to test but it seems that the offer has now been withdrawn. I was to slow I guess. Ron

MP3 music files in Adobe Audition
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in Equipment & Software
Peter and Lin, Thanks for trying to help on this issue. I think I have tracked down the problem. I remembered that I upgraded to IE8 the other day and it caused all sorts of problems on my system, so I uninstalled it and reverted back to IE6 (I never did try version 7). It was only then that I started having this problem with Audition so I have downloaded Audacity and exported the same music file as mp3 and all works well. I then assumed that the Audition program had become corrupted because of the Internet explorer fiasco so I uninstalled Audition (using REVO) and then re-installed it. Guess what? It all works as it should now. My conclusion is that I will not attempt to upgrade to IE8, at least not until Windows 7 is released. All's well that ends well, I guess. Ron -
MP3 music files in Adobe Audition
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in Equipment & Software
Hello Lin, I seem to have confused the issue! It is not a file extension that I am referring to, it is the 'File Type' that is shown when you right click on the file to see its properties. I know that Audition (not Audacity) is saving correctly as an mp3. I am using XP pro. Ron -
Opinion Needed on AVI to Flash File
Ronniebootwest replied to isabel95's topic in General Discussion
Hello Isabele, Your flash ran without a hitch on my system. Very sharp images and no sign of any glitches. It ran smoother on Firefox than on Internet Explorer though. I am very interested to learn what software you used to produce the flash, perhaps you can give some more details please. Ron West -
MP3 music files in Adobe Audition
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in Equipment & Software
Hi Dave, Yes that is the same option that I have always used myself and it has always worked well. However, if you check the 'properties' (right click) of that file, you will find that it displays the 'File type' as an mp3, but mine now displays as a 'File Type 30' and I have no idea why. Ron -
I have recently been unable to play my mp3 files that are created with Audition 1.5 and I do not know what the problem is. The file is correctly saved with the mp3 option but when I try to add it to a PTE slide show (version 5.6) it is not recognised. When I examine the 'Properties' of the file, I notice that it has an extension of .30 I have never heard of this extension type and am hoping that somebody can help me solve this problem. Thanks for any assistance. Ron West

Barry, I appreciate your comments and agree with them but you have not answered my question. You are still referring to the 'quality of the save in PTE, i.e quality 6. What settings do you save your jpegs at in Photoshop, e.g. 1920*1200*72 or something higher? Ron
-
This is a very interesting thread and I am following it with great enthuisiasm. I am not a newbie to this size thing and, have long suugested that 'Big is better'. Indeed, Ken Cox and I have often laughed at those who stuck doggedly to the 1024*768*72 school. I have always produced slide shows at whatever my monitor size happened to be. However, I am confused a little about the discussion taking place in this thread concerning 'resoltion and size'. It appears that you are all talking about the size that you are saving images IN PTE, I have always saved at quality 6 or 7 (maybe I will now begin to save at 12) But, what about saving of the image in Photoshop? If the image is used as 'straight from the camera' what resolution should it then be saved at? At this moment in time, I save at my monitor resolution of 90.1 (for slide show images) and at 300 for images that will be printed. What is the acceptec norm please? Ron

Just pulling your leg, Of course the photographer gets ALL of the credit. Ron

Barry, what is there to say. Your slide show is good, very good and an inspiration to the rest of us. It was not really what I expected Australia to be like, I had an image in my head, of bland desert landscapes with kangaroos and insects all over the place. How wrong I was eh! The place is beautiful and you have captured it so very well (but then I guess you have an advantage with a IDs Mark III round your neck) Thankyou for sharing such excellent images with us. Ron West

You are right! Maybe I could have used my words a little better, I really didn't mean to offend I just wanted to help. Back in the days when I was sending out pdf's to members, I did one that explained the benefits of 'Templates' and 'Backup in Zips' Unfortunately I seem to have lost it but perhaps someone still has a copy? Ron
-
Great show Peter! Must have taken a while to put it together though. I like the way you have used the masking shapes and the end titles are very imaginative, very well done. I understand Ken's comment but perhaps you ought to explain that these guys have used a derelict warehouse (with permission from the owners) to let thier artistic talents run wild. Ron

This problem keeps on popping up and people do not seem to be listening. Make a 'Template' and also a 'Backup in Zip' of all of your project files and you can then move your images where you like. I did a tutorial on this subject some time ago called, 'Making your first slide show' It can be found on my web site. Ron
-
Yes I think that this is a good idea. Upload the PTE Project as 'Backup in Zip' and sen me the link as well and I will try to help. I am curious! Ron
-
Mike, As an afterthought, creating a 'Template' or a 'Backup in Zip' will have the same effect. Ron
