  1. I am a little concerned about disabling the Data Execution Prevention, without first understanding what it actually is. It looks like it must be some kind of virus protector, so disabling it may well cause me more problems and I do not want that do I? Ron
  2. When I create an AVI file from a slide show, using the 'Create AVI' option and then attempt to run the resulting AVI, I get a Data Execution Prevention' warning and the program must then be shut down. This has never happened before so I am hoping that one of you experts will know the reason and help me find a way around the problem. Here is the warning that I get: Ron
  3. I totally agree with Brian and Ken, but I will withdraw now from this thread because it is getting 'silly' The point has been made well enough I think. Ron
  4. If we are moving on to the PTE program versions, then I MUST agree with Brian on this one - it is absolutely essential that WNsoft retain this program. If they don't, they will regret it. As Brian says, it is a classic and will be used by many people well into the future - 20 to 30 years perhaps. IGOR TAKE NOTE!!! Ron
  5. I wonder just how many of us are still using these 'older operating systems' I hope that the majority of people will try to keep up with the lastest technology. I know that sounds a little tongue in cheek, and I apologise. Ron
  6. This method of keeping all files, associated with the creation of a slide show, in one folder is the best way to go. I have recently posted a new tutorial on the sales page of my web site. Section 1 deals with the creation of such a set of folders, much the same as Peter has described. The tutorial is called 'Making your first Slide Show' and may be of particular interest to newcomers to PTE.
  7. Please explain what you mean by '8.3 rules' I have not heard of them before. Ron
  8. Autoruns should not have any spaces I believe! The easiest way to produce a working 'Autorun' is to use one of the many free utilities that are available. I use one called 'Speedo Autorum Maker Pro' If you search on Google, you will find it. Another thing to be aware of is that you must make sure to enable autorun on your computer. Ron
  9. Colin, Thanks for this info, it is just what I wanted to know. Ken, Your download link is just the ticket, I downloaded the tool and installed it then checked the file system (as per Colins info above) and hey Presto! there it was. A very useful tool and worth running every month, after checking that yopu have the latest version. Ron
  10. Yes it is an automatic update but surely you must be able to access the file in order to run the tool?
  11. Microsoft recently updated the 'Malicious Software Removal Tool' I downloaded this update but I cannot find where it was saved on my computer! Does anyone know where the damn thing might have gone please? Ron
  12. Is this the Player that you downloaded? Media Player Classic HomeCinema Ron
  13. This zip only seems to download an audio file - where is the video please? Ron West
  14. I have been following this thread very closely because I can identify with most of the problems discussed. I think that I understand the answers given by Igor and hope that a solution to all problems will be avialable as quickly as possible. Our thanks are due to Peter for his detailed description of the problems he has found. We all benefit from this of thread, though I fear that it may confuse some of the newer forum members. Thank you Peter for your time and effort. Ron
  15. The whole question of burning a PTE Slide show to a CD has caused a number of people to have problems. I am about half way through writing a pdf tutorial on this subject because I believe that some guidance would be useful to so many people. It will be added to my web site when completed. Ron
  16. Hi Lin, I am so sorry to hear that you will be taking a break from the forum - you will be missed more than you know. Please accept my very best wishes and I hope that your wife will soon be back to full health again. You are doing the right thing in devoting your whole time to her and be sure that we all understand. God bless you both! Sincerely, Ron West.
  17. Hello Jean, I have not really thought about this 'fear of downloading' up until now but I do agree with you, in that it can be a real problem. As for downloading from my site, I try very hard to keep things safe by virus checking (with at least two of the main virus programs) before I post anything to my site so people can have confidence when they download from me. Ron
  18. Of course it makes more sense to burn to ordinary DVD's, especially since you are only creating a sample disc for your customers. Just point out to them that the final finished DVD will be much better and you could also offer them the chance of having thier wedding burned to Blue Ray if they so wish. I always work on the KISS principle and keep it simple. Ron
  19. I am aware of that Peter, I said as much in my post "I realise that. if I open the earlier project of the show, in Version 5 and then create the .exe again, it all works well". I am just raising the point to help those people who might not have saved thier project files. I am also interested to learn if Igor and his team, will be providing any future 'fix' to this problem. Ron
  20. There is also a problem when running a 'One Page Menu'. I have created a menu using Version 5.6 but I am only able to use slide shows that have been created in Version 5. If I attempt to use a show made with earlier versions I get a 'Mismatch' message. I realise that. if I open the earlier project of the show, in Version 5 and then create the .exe again, it all works well. However, not all people still have access to earlier Project files. Always a mistake not to save and backup your projects (before you all start howling at me). Ron
  21. I am interested to learn how you manage to provide a download of the program, direct from your web site. I have been asked my visitors to my own site if this can be made available from my own site and I wonder how I can make it possible. Ron
  22. What about music that has now lapsed into the 'Public Domain'? I seem to recall that any music becomes public 40 years after the death of the singer/composer. Does this mean that it becomes copyerite free?? Ron
  23. Hi Barry, What format are the downloadable albums recorded in please. Ar they mp3 or WAV? Ron
  24. Version 5.6 and its many beta's, is looking very good now. The latest (Beta 18) is as good as it gets! When the final version is released (very soon now) Pictures To Exe will be the finest piece of software available and I will be recommending it to everyone on my own web site. Congratulations to Igor and his team of dedicated colleagues and I hope that 2009 will bring you even more success! Ron West
