  1. Good idea Dave but not new I'm afraid. I am a member of both the forums that you mention, i.e. Nikonians and Cannon and I often mention PTE there. In fact I have had a good response to my own tutorials because they are aimed at the beginner and do not require in depth knowlege. I have also been able to convert many people from that other package (called Prow Show Gold). I will always take the oppertunity of promoting PTE because I rate it very highly indeed. Ron
  2. It does seem that a lot of us are suffering the same problem with uploading to UTUBE direct from PTE. I am watching this thread every day hoping that somebody will soon find the solution. Well done Barry, for raising this issue. Ron
  3. Well done Barry but what was the solution? Ron
  4. Thank you Peter, very useful explanation that will help a lot of people. I am an XP user so will not have seen the flashback problem to which you refer. I wonder if the new operating system from Microsoft will solve all of our problems? Maybe, we will wait and see! Ron
  5. Thanks for the explanation Lin, I will give it a try when time permits. Meantime, I am being asked to create a pdf tutorial for creating a 'One Page Menu' similar to the one I did for version 4.48. Trouble is I do not yet fully understand how this new version works. Any assistance would be appreciated. Ron
  6. I am using 'Vimeo' for HD stuff and am finding that it works very well indeed.
  7. Everyone seems to be getting excited about this 'New Feature' but I am not yet able to understand just how it works, nor do I see that it is very much different from the older method of creating a page of icons and then using the 'Objects and Animation' options. Maybe I am missing something here! Can you explain please Peter? Ron
  8. Hi Dom, I thought that you had withdrawn this album template, in any event it seems that it is no longer available now. Ron
  9. Brian, you are so right! However, I do not think that people should always put absolute faith in CD backups because if poor quality (cheap) CD's have been used then the likelyhood is that they will not retain the data for very long. (a couple of years at most). If the backup you are making is important, then always use a high quality and respected brand name of CD. That would be my advice. Ron West
  10. I am currently trying out the new 'VIMEO' options in PTE and am very pleasantly surprised with it so far. UThe uploading process is very easy to get used to and the resulting sjows are of excellent quality (so much better that the rivals Utube) . The HD option is good but not really necessary because I am finding the SD quality to be acceptable. I think that this new feature will prove to be a big hit! I have uploaded a couple of test PTE shows, if you want to take a look. Ron.
  11. Igor, The addition of VIMEO support is an excellent idea, in spite of the restriction of only allowing one HD upload per week. Please continue to support it, I am quite sure that PTE members will find it very useful. Lin, Thanks for the information on VIMEO. I have done as you suggest and am now able to upload without any problems. The quality is very good (much better than YOUTUBE). I am working on a small show that I will upload next week. I think that, because of the way Vimeo controls things, and the fact that there will be a small charge, will mean that people who choose to use it will get a much better service from them, i.e. there will not be any 'crap' uploaded. Time will tell! Ron
  12. Why don't you just use the (zipped) exe slide show and upload this to your web site? I do, and it works fine. Take a look at the Downloads page on my site to see an example. Ron
  13. Hi Lin, I have only just heard of Vimeo, I noticed it because it has been added to the latest version of PTE. I thought I would give it a try and attempted to create a HD video using the PTE options. I failed to achieve this because, quite honestly, I did not know what I was doing. Have you produced any kind of tutorial on making such a video and then publishing to Vimeo? I am sure that others might also appreciate such a tutorial. Ron West
  14. 2 cents worth? I reckon that you have spent at least a dollar Let's move on from this now, it has been done to death. For the record, I agree with Barry Beckham! Ron
  15. Also, after pressing the spacebar to pause the show, you can use the left and right curser keys to move forward or backward one slide at a time. PTE is just great isn't it? Ron PS. The iceberg shots are excellent by the way!
  16. Welcome David, I look forward to seeing some of your work soon. If you need help with anything, this is the forum where you will always get it! Ron
  17. When you say 'hit the pause button' do you mean the 'spacebar' ? Ron
  18. I have recently uploaded my NEW web site after a long time re-designing it. Unfortuneatly I have had some emails reporting that the site cannot be accessed properly. I have made a few changes to my FTP server uploads and I think that everything should now be working OK. If you have the time, would you please try to visit and check that your browser is opening the site without any problems - particularly the PTE slide show demo's that you will find on the DOWNLOADS page. The site should open in all of the major Web Browsers (Internet explorer 7, Firefox, Safari, Opera). However, because the site has been created with CSS (style sheets) you may experience some problems with Internet Explorer 6) You can leave a message in my Guestbook that is on the Contactme page, or you can email me (or both). I do appreciate your help and thank you in advance. Ron West
  19. Hello everyone, I have been trying to follow this thread but have failed to understand most of the technical stuff. I don't really mind not understanding though because I am not that much interested. I want a software program that is easy to use and simple to learn (version 4..49 for example). Way back when version 5 was first introduced, I remember saying that there was a real danger of making PTE so complicated that folk would simply abandon it for some other program - we have reached that point right now I think! Most of the emails that I recieve from PTE users, are asking questions about how to use the complicated options contained in version 5. I always suggest that they go bac to basics and learn how to use the progam with version 4.49 before attempting to move up to version 5 - i.e. if you try to run before learning to walk, you will most certainly fall over! The above post is exactly right, to cater for everybodies needs, just make PTE available as suggested in the post. My bet is that version 4.49 would be the one that most folk would buy. Ronnie West
  20. This does really sound like a statement to be cautious about! Barry, surely this cannot be correct. Users of PTE are no different to users of other slide making software so why do you think that we are exempt from copyright laws - very misleading indeed! Ron
  21. We have seen so many other programs compared to Pictures to Exe over the years and we have always concluded that PTE out-performs them all. When a program such as PTE is available at such a reasonable price, I recommend taking the time to learn it - you will be hooked within a day! Ron
  22. Hi Bart, Please post you web address for the benefit of those that do not know it. Ron
  23. Hello Esben, Can you tell us what graphics card you have installed in your computer please? Ron
  24. Hi Tom, I have watched your show about the 40's and that one street in Haworth. My first impression was one of admiration because I could see the amount of work and expertise that you had put into making the show. Each image carried its own message - a simple message of remembrance - I was just a small child during that part of our history but I remember very well the hardship that war produced. I think that you have managed to capture the feeling of the time and I will be watching the slide show again and again just so that I can live again the comradeship that the war years produced. Now I don't know what the 'purists' will make of your efforts, but I for one don't give a toss if there is not a real beginning, a middle and an end. To me, this is audio visual as I want to see it. On a technical note, and for those who have been to Haworth, I did notice the painstaking removal of the 'double yellow lines' along the street itself - now that must have been some real tedious cloning work! More of the same please, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ron West
  25. Excellent piece of software! The work required to bring Pictures To Exe to this very high standard has placed may demands on Igor and his dedicated team and I am sure that it is appreciated by everyone. I would like to add my personal congratulations to all those involved in providing this top notch program. Ron West
