The problem with Yousendit is that they will only host your uploaded files for 7 days, unless you pay to upgrade the 'Free Account'. Ron

I do not think that you are correct here! In order to burn to 'Bluray' you will need a high definition recorder and also Bluray dvd discs (very expensive). I am not to sure of my facts here but if you contact Ray Waddington, he will know the answers.

xahu34, Thankyou for your swift reply, much appreciated. Ron

Back in version 4.48 I used to use a utility, that was written by Marcovelo, for hiding the Windows Taskbar in my slide shows. Does anyone know if this utility has been updated for version 5 use? If so, I would like to have a copy together with instructions on how to use it please. Ron

Having problems with music files ripped under Vista
Ronniebootwest replied to fh1805's topic in General Discussion
When using Audition to convert WAV files to mp3 I always use the 320 bit setting so that I can maintain 'broadcast quality' for my radio programs. I use the mp3 pro setting when I make CD's but change to the normal mp3 setting for PTE slide show work. For some reason, PTE often dislikes the 'pro' setting. Ron West -
John, First class stuff mate! These recordings are really good for a hand held recorder. Yours were made with a Zoom H2 and sound really much better than the samples that I have heard from its predesessor - the H4. Have you tried it with an external mike yet? if so, what mike did you use?. Ron. p.s. I could not find the 'voice over' mentioned by Barry though.

Hello RonH, I agree with your comments and I wish that I could see more shows with sound bites that have been recorded by the person making the slide show. I would like to hear some of your recording made with the H4. I have heard that there is a lot of 'hiss' created by the poor mike pre-amps so I have been put off a little. Perhaps you would upload some samples to Mediafire??? I am interested in the new Sony PCM-D50 but it is only available in the USA at the moment. Ron

Hello Peter, Can I suggest that you always start your recordings with about a 10 seconds of 'blank space' i.e. just the background noises before you actually start recording the actual subject matter. In this way, you might be able to use this blank background to capture a noise reduction profile so that you could use the features in (Audition) to reduce the noise levels. Just a thought! Ron

Not sure that I agree here Dave, What about image size?? Ron

Ken is referring to the 'bitrate setting' when recording music. This is particularly important when making mp3 music files for your PTE slide shows. I have always recorded at a bitrate of 320 because I think that this produces a better quality playback sound, but it does make the file size larger. Ron

This question was dealt with as far back as 2005! Here is what Igor said at that time: "When any trial period expires (date, days or numbers of runs), this EXE file will not work anymore. Setting the clock back will not get it working again. However experienced programmer or hacker can breaks any limitation as you know. But it requires additional time and skills and not each can do it." Ron West

Tina, that is brilliant! I like the CD labels very much - would you consider emailing me a sample? My email: Ron

Thankyou Tina, for your explanation! Ron

Don't rely to much on this feature because the expiration date option is only of limited use. If you are expecting this feature to be some sort of 'protection' for your CD then be aware that there are a few ways of defeating it, e.g. copy the CD to another computer. I am not an expert on this subject but I feel sure that other members will be able to point out the shortcomings of the 'expire' feature. Ron

Hello Tina, I am very impressed with the image you have posted showing 3 boxes. Did you use Dom's action to create this? I would love to see how you created this image, perhaps you would post you project (as a zipped template) or sent it to me via email here:

From the many posts on this subject and also the email questions that I get, maybe it is time for me to produce a pdf tutorial on how to create a video. I agree with previous members who have stated that 'it is so easy' with Video Builder version 5.1, so update to this if you have not already done so. Ron

Virus Protection - Norton versus AVG
Ronniebootwest replied to Ronniebootwest's topic in General Discussion
Hello Brian, Thankyou. yet again, for your valuable input. Your comments have allayed my fears somewhat and I now feel more confident about AVG. I know that Ken Cox has used it regularly and, apart from a few reported 'False Positives', he says that it works well for him. I also know of a good few other members of this forum who recommend it. I have tried the FREE version but now feel that I would like to have more control over the program so am trying the 30 day trial - this does seem more user friendly and allows me the control that I desire, e.g. I want to run full system scans when I choose and not every day, as the free version appears to want to do. I would be interested in any other members view on this particular virus scanning package. Ron -

Hello Patrick, Many thanks for the link to this report. I am studying it page by page. Already I am concerned to note that AVG is way down the list! Ron -
Virus Protection - Norton versus AVG

Hello Mike, I have been where you are! Some 2 years ago I was using the Norton Internet security package and ran into all sorts of problems, so with the help and advice from Brian Conflow, I removed it completely and installed Norton Antivirus full package. (Internet security only includes a watered down version of NAV). Norton Anivirus has served me well for the last 2 years but, just recently started to give me problems, e.g. system crashes and very slow running PC. After doing some homework on internet forum, I made the decicion to abandon Norton altogether. (it uses far too much of the system resources). Again with the advice of Brian Conflow, I uninstalled and went for AVG and, so far, I am impressed. Ron -
Hello Jeff, Are you talking about the right thing here? As far as I can see 'The Box' does not have any pages. Ron

Lin, your AVI is brilliant and I was able to follow it without any difficulty. I might make a pdf tutorial on this subject because I think a whole load of members would appreciate it. Thanks for sharing you expetise with us. Ron West

Peter Kilminster and I are currently working on a pdf Tutorial that will show you exactly how to create the 'Curtains Opening' effect. Lots of people have asked me if I would create this tutorial because of the popularity of my other pdf's. It is quite easy to do and our tutorial will be available soon. Ron

Hi there, I apprecaite your frustration Morgane but don't despair. I think that you are trying to run before you walk - this is almost always the case when things don't work as expected. PTE is a brilliant piece of software but it does have a steep learning curve especially with version 5.1. You must start at the beginning and work your way thru slowly. There are many forum members who can help you and, for my part, I have posted a lot of easy to follow pdf tutorials on my web site. Download a couple and work thru them at you own pace and I feel sure that you will be delighted with the results. Visit My Website Please feel free to email me if you think that I might be of further assistance to you. Ron West

Mike, I am sure that you are aware of the wisdom of using the 'Create a Template fron This Show' option within PTE. Ron
