  1. Henri, For a short period of time you will find a good few basic tutorials on the 'Tutorials' page of my website. They are free so download any that you think might be useful to you, but be quick because I am intending to remove them all very soon now. Visit My Website Ron
  2. Hi Paul, You do have the correct links to both packages. I decided to buy RegClean on Brian's suggestion - I prefer it to RegCure. I paid a total of $40.36 (including UK VAT) I also included 'Active Protection' which is why the price seems a little high. For the benefit of UK users, this price is equal to £21 (sterling). Now my computer is protected by AVG (Free edition) together with RegClean, WsoftSpySE. Spybot, Iobit, AD-Adware SE. This may seem excessive to some of you but it is well worth it if you want a clean and fast running computer free from virus and other threats. Ron
  3. Lin, I await your tutorial with interest! Ron West
  4. We live and learn Brian! I notice that you are using 'Reg Cure' as your registry cleaner - is this better than Reg Clean or much the same? Ron
  5. SUCCESS!!! Thanks to all who have responded to this thread especially Brian Conflow. With heis helpful and detailed advice I have now been able to remove all trace of Norton from my computer - what a relief! I have downloaded and installed the FREE version of AVG and intend running it for a short while to see how it goes o so far I am impressed with what I am seeing. I wonder if it is worth the small additional cost of purchasing the full 'pro' version, any suggestions??? I have also purchased a copy of the Registry Cleaner called 'REGCLEAN' and it has cleaned up my system registry a treat, my computer now boots up much much quicker and seems to be running at an enhanced speed too. Thanks again for all the help and advice and I hope that other forum members will benefit from this thread. Ron West
  6. Blimey Brian, your warning will put the wind up a lot of people I think but I will heed your warning because you have steered me in the right direction before. Interesting to note that at least one other forum member has uninstalled Norton with the 'Un-install facility' that came with his original CD. I downloaded my program (Norton Antivirus) from the internet so I do not get this un-install option. Can it be downloaded anywhere please? Ron
  7. I have been using Norton Anti-Virus for a few years now and have been more than satisfied, However, just recently I have been encountering problems with my system and in particular, with Norton virus scanning. I won't go into detail here but I now want to ditch Norton and switch to AVG and have some questions that I hope will be answered by members of this forum:- 1. I am told that uninstalling Norton can be tricky. Advice on what I need to do would be appreciated. 2. In the meantime, can I install and run AVG with Norton still on my computer? 3. Which version of AVG is recommended - the Free package or the paid version? Thanks for any help that can be offered. Ron
  8. "yachtsman1, Hi All Thanks for your advise. I've bitten the bullet, redone the show up to slide 140, saved it, re-opened it, previewed it and it now works, Next step is to add the remaining slides, any tips on the best way. Thanks again. Yachtsman1. " I hope that you have taken heed of the advice to create a 'Template' otherwise you will eventually encounter this problem again. Ron
  9. If you are new to making slide shows, I suggest that you get into the habit of making a 'PTE Template' of each show that you make. In this way you will always have a backup of all the parts of your show, i.e. the images, the project file and any music files. Ron
  10. Hello Mike, I agree with you, the only way to retain the full image is to use a mask (or frame) made in an image editor such as Photoshop. I have been working on a tutorial that will show how this can be done but I have not been able to complete it as yet. Ron
  11. Selling work instead of giving it away for free - Ummm! I have been there, done that and also have a couple of the T-shirts. My personal experience is that most people will be pleased to download anything that is FREE but will not be bothered if the item is for sale. The Dom will soon realize this I think. Even if a donation is requested, it is very rare that one is actually made. It is a great pity, because many of us provide help and guidance to forum members for free. Don't get me started!!! Ron
  12. Hello Russ, Welcome to our Forum! Wow! for a person who has just joined us, you are asking some really in depth questions. This is no bad thing but I feel that you may well be trying to run before learning to walk properly. That is really not meant to discourage you but in my experience, those who try to get involved by 'jumping in at the deep end', invariably finish up drowning. My advice would be to forget about version 5 for the time being and download version 4.48 of the software (You can always upgrade at a later stage). The advantage of doing this is that you will be able to learn how to build a basic slide show and accumulate the required knowledge along the way. Ron West.
  13. Pam, If it is not to late, remember to save all of your project files and exe files to a separate drive before you re-install (just in case). Better still copy everything to a CD or DVD. Ron
  14. Hello Pam. Why don't you consider signing up to MSN (Microsoft Messenger) it works very well indeed and will allow you to talk directly from your computer to any other MSN member. This way you can talk through your problems and at the same time have PTE running on your computer. The whole thing is FREE and you need not run up a bill on your telephone line - even between different coutries. Ron West
  15. Hi Ken, Just thought I would try this for myself. Great! It definitely works. Thanks Mike, for asking the question.
  16. Hello Moresoft, I read your comment on the thread posted by Mightec and also followed the replies that were posted later. I am quite certain that Mike never intended to 'with-hold' his tutorial from anyone, in fact he has been very helpful to me recently with a few problems t5hat I was having. It seems that you think it a little selfish for any forum member to only send stuff privately (sorry if I am misunderstanding you). On this point I would like to say that I have been placing tutorials on my we site for a very long time now and these tutorials are freely available to anyone who wants to download them. However, only very few people (25 to date) ever take the time to acknowledge these free tutorials with a simple word of thanks - I will leave you to think about that! Ron
  17. I have looked at your demo Mike and must say that the idea of being able to use animation within the Domas Album is a great idea. Not sure that all that zooming is to my taste though. However I would like very much to know how you achieved it so would be grateful to have a copy of any tutorial that you produce. Ron
  18. Hello Dom, This idea is well worth considering and might be something that can be developed further. I assume that the user will be able to pick an image with the mouse (just like your 'Pic A Card' demo). Ron
  19. I like this idea and think that you should develop it further. I wonder if there will be enough space to display many cards though. Ron
  20. Hello Ian, I was very interested in the software links that you provided so downloaded the trials for each of them. They are very good but seem to be a bit 'over the top' for simple competitions. Does your club actually use any one of these or do you just use PTE in some form or another please? Ron
  21. Hi Gilbert, Lin is quite right, you must have first saved the PTE PROJECT file and, if you are wise, you will also have created a TEMPLATE. Then it will be a simple matter to reopen the project and edit your show and create the .exe and template once more.
  22. I seem to remember a thread on this kind of thing but I cannot find it in the 'search' option. Maybe somebody will remember where it is. A colleague has asked for some advice on using PTE to simulate a Camara Club image judging sequence. His idea is to use PTE to display up to 50 indivual images one at a time. Each image will remain on the screen until the next image is selected for display. The images will usually be displayed in a sequential manner, e.g. image 1, image 2 and so on. However there should be way of selecting a particular image that is out of sequence so that, if requested by the audience, a particular image can be recalled at will, e.g. by selecting its number. A simple fade transition would be required between each image selection. Those of you who have attended a camera club will know the kind of thing I mean. Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. Ron P.S. It would be useful to be able to create a template of the finished utility so that futgure imaged could simply be added to this template.
  23. Mr Bibbs, There are some 'Basic' tutorials on how to use the new version 5 options (panning, zooming and rotating) on the tutorial page of my web site Here Please download them and see if they will help you to understand. Ron
  24. Thankyou Dom, for the link I will be using both of these templates because it is a great idea. Mike's template includes 20 pictures and I still think that this is an ideal number - just having 7 pictures is not enough! Please reconsider inclicluding more images within your template. Ron
  25. It is not actually a 'jerk' it is more like a very quick 'color shift' Ron
